Imitrex with naproxen

Common Questions and Answers about Imitrex with naproxen

imitrex

Avatar f tn I am having trouble determining whether my migraine medication, Imitrex, is one them. Sumitriptan and naproxen are not on the list, but since this drug narrows blood vessels, I wonder if it's best not to take it before surgery.
768044 tn?1294223436 Because I think getting Imitrex injections at the hospital is either the same thing or probably very similar to a prescription for Imitrex Injection, although I guess the difference is that by the time you get to the hospital it has already been a very long time so it might not work as well... but still, experiences with Imitrex injections at the hospital would be good to know about too. Thanks!!
Avatar f tn so, you could maybe, if your doctor thought it was a good idea, mix up your treatment plan by using Imitrex sometimes and Naproxen sometimes, IF the Naproxen worked. Otherwise... talk to your doctor about other non-triptan options for pain control. AND... most important, get your doctor to switch you to a new preventative, because the ELATROLET isn't working for you (it didn't work for me either!).
768044 tn?1294223436 For the majority of my migraine headaches, the triptan that I use is Zomig Nasal Spray. I find that of all the triptans I have tried, for me, Zomig works best. I use the 5mg Nasal Spray. I also have a prescription for Imitrex Injection too, although the Imitrex Injection is to use for my most severe migraine headaches (what I used to call my "suicide headaches" or what I now refer to as a 9/10 headache using the Pain Scale that was recently posted in Pain Management Community Forum).
Avatar m tn i have migrain problem today i went to see my doctor. she prescribed naproxen 500 mg to me. in this past i had been addicted to opiates(no pills) i don't want mess up this time with pills.i just want to know if the the above mentioned medicine is of addictive nature in the long run.
1125820 tn?1265284446 There are currently 7 triptans on the market, plus one triptan that is also mixed with an NSAID called Naproxen. I believe that fast acting triptans are the best in most situations because they work the fastest. Fast acting triptans come in orally disintegrating tablets or nasal sprays. I personally use Zomig Nasal Spray and find it works extremely well. I also have found great success with Maxalt-MLTs.
Avatar m tn Sometimes people use a medication called Naproxen in combination with their triptans, and that works very well. Sometimes people use an antiemetic along with a pain killer (such as Tylenol+Codeine OR Naproxen) OR triptan, one of the most effective antiemetics for migraines is Metoclopramide. I hope that you find an effective treatment plan for these headaches soon! Keep in touch!
Avatar n tn t get imitrex tablets, get the imitrex or generic nasal spray or imitrex or generic injection OR treximex tablets but NOT imitrex tablets. - Zolmitriptan. brand name Zomig. this is what i use. (although i have used all of them at some point) don't get the tablets... like imitrex, the tablets don't work. But, the nasal spray DOES work incredibly well and this is what is usually prescribed anyway. - Almotriptan. brand name Axert. a very powerful triptan tablet.
1100598 tn?1413127426 one every month or so with the aura, which was treated with Imitrex. After a concussion last summer, I started getting them almost daily, where I would get blurry vision, tremors in my hands, nausea, difficulty speaking, pain in the left temple, and falling. My doctor started me on Topamax, 100mg, which has helped with the symptoms, although I still fall occassionally. She was able to rule out epilepsy. I was wondering if anyone else has these symptoms when they have a migraine?
701581 tn?1279136038 Only combine medications if a doctor tells you to, and never combine medications without first checking with a pharmacist. Taking a triptan along with Naproxen (an NSAID) is very helpful for many people. You are sort of already doing something similar to this when you take Imitrex and Excedrin at the same time. Since your migraines are chronic, Naproxen may be a safer medication to use as it will not cause rebound headaches even though it is an NSAID.
Avatar f tn s experience with the imitrex has been - good or bad - and if they have any other tips of things I can try (non-medicinal) to reduce the pain, etc., of the migraines. Fortunately, (knock on wood), I haven't had a migraine since I saw my doc on thursday, so I haven't tried the imitrex yet. I'm always leary/hesitant about ANY new medication, so would definitely appreciate any advice about this med that anyone might have. Thanks so much!
635402 tn?1270162477 Silberstein of the Jefferson Headache Center was able to demonstrate through research, that Imitrex combined with naprosyn taken at the onset of a migraine was better in treating that migraine than either drug alone. Such a combination is deemed synergistic, meaning basically that two plus two equals ten. Naprosyn is the prescription form of Aleve which is sold over the counter and is an anti-inflammatory. Once this research was confirmed, GSK began to develop a combination drug.
Avatar m tn on day 10....today my doctor prescribed me Naproxen for my chronic back pain. I know I could search this, but would rather ask anyone with any experience with it's use. Good idea or not to use after 10 days clean. I dont even know if it's a "mild" narcotic or not, however I believe it's similar to Aleeve. Advice? thanks in advance.
1102283 tn?1257817472 Hi Juniper! First-line acute migraine medications are triptans. There are currently 7 triptans on the market, plus one triptan that is also mixed with an NSAID called Naproxen. I believe that fast acting triptans are the best in most situations because they work the fastest. Fast acting triptans come in orally disintegrating tablets or nasal sprays. I personally use Zomig Nasal Spray and find it works extremely well. I also have found great success with Maxalt-MLTs.
Avatar m tn Several years ago, I discovered Excedrin Migraine (acetaminophen, aspirin and caffeine) really helped out. Now I find that I am sensitive to it along with just aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and naproxen sodium. My physician prescribed Tramadol to try, but that also makes me feel bum. Does anyone know of any medication that might work? I don't really want to go into the heavy-duty meds, as I've never liked feeling "medicated".
768044 tn?1294223436 I am currently taking Topamax and a betablocker called Nadolol. I am also taking 300mg of Coenzyme Q10 a day. I recently got botox injections too. I think that the topamax might have helped with the chronic pain. And, I think that the botox helped a bit too. I don't know if the nadolol has helped at all... but, I am going to keep taking it for a few more months before I make up my mind about it. I also don't really know if the Coenzyme Q10 is working at all either, but...
Avatar n tn i am currently taking 20mg citalopram, i suffer with server back problems and im usually prescribed naproxen 250mg which help with the pain. Am i able to take my naproxen with my citalopram? as i am currently lots of pain and unsure what can take.
1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
1079216 tn?1258200805 Usually the bioavailability of a nasal spray will be higher than the bioavailability of a oral tablet, such as with the triptan Zomig, where the bioavailability of the oral tablets is 40% and the bioavailability of the nasal spray is 102% (when the bioavailability is higher than 100% it means that the medication by that route works better then it would by intravenous injection), although this sort of increase between oral administration and nasal administration is not the case with Imitrex.
Avatar f tn No, if it is the branded version of Imitrex with no additional additives. There could be some other variants that include NSAIDS but you should double check with your Doctor as to which version was prescribed. I agree Maxalt seems to be the better drug especially the MLT version as it gets into the blood stream much quicker.
Avatar f tn I find Ibupropin helps a lot if the Imitrex doesn't work or vice versa. Then I got vertigo in my 40's and I would just fall down. It is due to the migraine not the inner ear. I have become hypothyroid too. They now have me on Topamax which took away my migraine headaches but not the auras and I don't have vertigo anymore either. I also take a half of a 25mg of amitriptilyne still too. They had tried cyproheptadine but that didn't work either.
Avatar f tn I am not a doctor. But my neurologist prescribed both 10 mg of Amitriptyline and Imitrex. So I think it should be fine. You can ask a pharmacist or your doctor to make sure. But I am on both of those plus Trokendi XR and Clonazepam.
341655 tn?1240368839 what is the difference between the imitrex injections and pills? Which is more effective and prescribed more?
Avatar f tn i get tired of being stiff, cant take naproxen anymore, makes my hands swell up some, so now Dr told me to take 1 moltrin in am and pm.. its helping a bit..
