1051752 tn?1253833456 so does anyone know if i take advil for a headache that does not start with aura like most of my migraines but the advil does not touch it is it then ok to take my imatrex?
Avatar m tn I am an 18 year old whose migraines usually rebound with Imitrex therapy. Which of the following is recommended?
Avatar f tn Some people have success treating migraine with ibuprofin (such as advil). For me nothing works except sumatriptan (such as imitrex) for you need a prescription.
Avatar f tn but seriously my head is pounding, my back is in knots, my head hurts so bad my ears hurt...and this is the exact pain that got me into the mess with painkillers. Now here I am, 13 days after my last perc, finally recovering after the horrible w/ds and I want relief so bad that if one of those little white pills were in front of me I would definatly take one. I tried the mild muscle relaxer and an IB 800, let's be serious, that doesn't do s*** for me!?!?
Avatar f tn The palpitations started getting worse, but I had now talked myself into having a fear of imitrex (that it would kill me). One night to avoid the ER with a terrible migraine I broke down and took the imitrex shot. Within seconds the palpitations stopped, and did not pick back up again for about 3 days. That was the last time I had taken imitrex and it's been 3 full months now with no migraine medications, only Advil. Thankfully I started Cranio Sacral which reduced the migraines.
Avatar f tn While medications such as imitrex are contraindicated (should not be used) in people who are known to have heart disease or other vascular problems, there is not a specific test that needs to be done in someone with migraines who takes imitrex. If you are diagnosed at any time with heart disease or stroke, you do need to stop taking imitrex.

Avatar f tn s experience with the imitrex has been - good or bad - and if they have any other tips of things I can try (non-medicinal) to reduce the pain, etc., of the migraines. Fortunately, (knock on wood), I haven't had a migraine since I saw my doc on thursday, so I haven't tried the imitrex yet. I'm always leary/hesitant about ANY new medication, so would definitely appreciate any advice about this med that anyone might have. Thanks so much!
9584843 tn?1404686658 t seem to concentrated when I had my attacks. I would take Advil, Excedrin, ibuprofen, anything to help with the pain. Eventually I had to keep upping the dose until I was taking 10 to 15 pills a day to even get a slight reaction from the meds. This year I was finally dxed with this condition. I finally got to see a true Chiari spoecialiat yesterday. Though the outcome of our meeting has me scared I'm at least back on some medications to.
Avatar f tn What can cause a headache at bridge of nose? It happens 2-3 times per month and always lasts 24 hours. I've seen two ENT's and a neurologist but no answers. I've had septoplasty and turbinate reduction but got no relief. Imitrex for migraine helps if I take it at the onset but I don't believe it's a migraine. If I press on the top of my nose it relieves the pain but it comes back as soon as I release.
635402 tn?1270162477 Silberstein of the Jefferson Headache Center was able to demonstrate through research, that Imitrex combined with naprosyn taken at the onset of a migraine was better in treating that migraine than either drug alone. Such a combination is deemed synergistic, meaning basically that two plus two equals ten. Naprosyn is the prescription form of Aleve which is sold over the counter and is an anti-inflammatory. Once this research was confirmed, GSK began to develop a combination drug.
Avatar f tn Advil is the way to go!!!
Avatar f tn I only use advil and I have migraines so when they are bad I'm prescribed Imitrex. You have to learn to manage some of your pain without turning to pills. It takes time, months.
Avatar n tn I am a 46 year old women who was diagnosed with "Classic Migraine" in my early twenties. My mother, Aunt and Grandmother all had these types of migraines. Over the years, I have only had 1-2 migraines with preceded by aura. My last one happened 2 years ago. The headaches are not severe and the aura usually lasts only 20 minutes before onset of the headache. Now, within the past week, I have had 5 headaches preceded by aura.
518798 tn?1295212279 t had a true migraine in years, but I feel one coming on. I would NOT take anything narcotic for it even if I had it. I have been eating advil and excedrin tension headache. I have been digging looking to see if I can find some imitrex here. I had a prescription years ago and I don't think I used them all, but that was "back in the day" and I don't really know what I have/had.
333672 tn?1273792789 Yet another case of the consumer getting s-crewed. I'm wondering if the same sort of thing is going on with the 'new and improved' version of Imitrex (for migraines). The drug company is advertising heavily on TV about this. I think there's just some Advil added, or something small like that, but I'm not sure.
Avatar m tn Will get 2-5 bouts/day with varying degrees of pain but deal with via Advil. My concentration is also poor and I really have to focus to complete menial tasks. See another neuro-opthamologist in early April ’09 and she dx’s me with chronic cluster H/A, gives me an occipital block and prescribes verapamil and imitrex. It does not appear to be helping as I believe the H/As are either eye strain due to 2x vision or tension related from GAD.
1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
Avatar f tn I did, I have migranes and was given pamalor, it worked really good for me, I stipped taking it and I am thinking I should go back on it again. I took it with imitrex. they worked fine for me. ' I have also taken wellbruten, but I don't remember why I stipped, I'm wondering if there is one med that will help with depression and weight loss and will not interfear with my sex drive? does anyone know?

1394601 tn?1328032308 I began taking my Rebif shots without taking Advil in advance. Am I playing with fire?
Avatar f tn advil is a minor anti inflammatory I have never heard of it prescribed for this before but it could help a little I suppose more widely prescribed for GM are some of the big anti inflammatories - particularly prednisone or methotrexate I did take Naproxen for some time, (months at a pretty high dose - it really attacks your stomach lining though so I went off), which I guess is a step up from advil, and is a non steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID), can't say if it helped with the inflamma
