Imitrex naprosyn

Common Questions and Answers about Imitrex naprosyn

imitrex

Avatar f tn I am having trouble determining whether my migraine medication, Imitrex, is one them. Sumitriptan and naproxen are not on the list, but since this drug narrows blood vessels, I wonder if it's best not to take it before surgery.
635402 tn?1270162477 Silberstein of the Jefferson Headache Center was able to demonstrate through research, that Imitrex combined with naprosyn taken at the onset of a migraine was better in treating that migraine than either drug alone. Such a combination is deemed synergistic, meaning basically that two plus two equals ten. Naprosyn is the prescription form of Aleve which is sold over the counter and is an anti-inflammatory. Once this research was confirmed, GSK began to develop a combination drug.
Avatar n tn For years, before all the modern trpitan drugs were available, I used naprosyn and caffeine tablets to delay a migraine. I was never able to really stop one, but this combination worked very well for me and is very affordable in the USA and would delay a migraine for me for hours. From a lifetime of having migraines nothing much can stop it if the migraine is too far advanced (unless you get an injection to enable you to sleep it off).. Good luck in Panama!
1328595 tn?1283018449 I am doubting this is any heart-related problem, but GI upset secondary to the Naprosyn. Perhaps you can try another NSAID, i.e. Ibuprofen. Are you taking the Naprosyn with food and water?
Avatar m tn I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.
Avatar f tn I don't have much of a question, but wanted to introduce myself. I've periodically had migraines throughout my life, but they were never very often. However, that changed since I've been diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia (as well as other chronic pain issues). Especially since the fibro was discovered (about 15 years ago), my migraines have increased in frequency. The week before last, I had 3 in that week alone.

Avatar m tn Naprosyn Warnings Hepatic Effects Borderline elevations of one or more liver tests may occur in up to 15% of patients taking NSAIDs including Naprosyn, EC-Naprosyn, ANAPROX, ANAPROX DS and Naprosyn Suspension. Hepatic abnormalities may be the result of hypersensitivity rather than direct toxicity. These laboratory abnormalities may progress, may remain essentially unchanged, or may be transient with continued therapy.
341655 tn?1240368839 what is the difference between the imitrex injections and pills? Which is more effective and prescribed more?
1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
1056589 tn?1273747102 If you suffer from some other types of medical conditions too, Imitrex should not be taken. Do not take Imitrex if you have underlying cardiovascular diseases, if you have uncontrolled hypertension, if you are taking MAO-A antidepressants or and do not take Imitrex if you have severe hepatic impairment.
Avatar n tn The most recent on was to the new acia berry extract! How ridiculous is that?? I also have the same reaction to naprosyn, but I can take naproxen sodium (Aleve) just fine. I am menopausal, but when I was having menstrual cycles, I sometimes would break out at certain times during the month when hormonal levels would change. Any idea what chemical or hormone might cause my reactions?
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
Avatar f tn so there is no reason to become an addict or to crave the medication, but ones body will still become highly dependent on the medication to a point that if you take the body off the medication abruptly you can cause seizures and even death... Imitrex is NOT like that!! Imitrex does not cause any sort of high or euphoria so you cannot become addicted to it, you will not "crave" it when you are not in pain...
Avatar f tn I am pretty loyal to Imitrex. But always at max dose of 200mg. There is a new drug from makers of Imitrex called Trixamet. It is Imitrex plus an NSAID. I got a sample from my doc. I loved it. Trixamet is supposed to be covered by any insurance that takes Imitrex, but mine doesn't cover it. Maybe yours will. Hope I helped.
Avatar n tn You can buy the generic form of it most places.. the box would say Naproxen Sodium or Naprosyn.
518798 tn?1295212279 Good Morning guys! I woke up with another migraine this morning. This is the 3rd one this month. I usually have about 2 in a year, but never this close together and this often. I have been taking 1 imitrex when I have a headache. My question is, "Is Imitrex habit-forming?" I have researched all the websites, but they also say that ultram isn't habit forming. I was just wanting some info from someone who has taken it.
Avatar f tn Hello. I've been suffering from sever migraines for years but recently they have gotten worse.. For a week now I've had a constant pain. Ive tried imitrex and that hadn't help. I took a pain med n it help for a little while. But the pain is back ten fold. Is that because of the pain med.? Any suggestions on migraine medications?
Avatar f tn I used to get so many migraines and I was taking imitrex injections. When I moved the migraines got worse from stress and I started taking the imitrex daily, sometimes even multiple times a day. After about 3 months of this I started getting heart palpitations. They got so bad that I stopped taking my imitrex (cold turkey) on the whim that it was causing them. The palpitations started getting worse, but I had now talked myself into having a fear of imitrex (that it would kill me).
Avatar n tn could any of these medications cause these abnormal lab results? incidentally, the naprosyn is not helping with the knee pain and the swelling is getting worse. my main concern however, is the abnormal cbc. can you provide me with some answers. thank you.
1569579 tn?1299187685 Under the treatments for migraines why isn't Imitrex or Fioranal listed?
Avatar m tn Dr wants me to take anti-inflamitory (naprosyn 750mg x1day) in stints of 5-7days -starting again when pain returns. Has anyone had any experience with these nsaid's? the last thing i want to do is replace tramadol and oxycontin for another drug... but would be "nice" to reduce the pain a bit... can it be addictive, will it burn a hole in my stomach and is it an effective form of pain relief? any ideas appreciated... ty T. ps.
Avatar n tn I nee help. My mom is 45 and she has terrible headaches everyday. She takes Imitrex. She takes it everyday. She had bad headaches since 10 years ago, but now it's everyday that she has one. It's been like that for a month? What is wrong with her? I hope it's not some kind of tumor. Would migraine pill work for headache caused by tumor?
Avatar m tn I was consuming to much protein including meats. I also was taking daily naprosyn (Aleve) for an arthretic knee. My doctor told me that taking naprosyn over a prolonged period of time could result in kidney damage. After I decreased my protein intake and shifted to Tylenol my BUN & cratinine scores dropped.
