imitrex

Avatar f tn I don't have much of a question, but wanted to introduce myself. I've periodically had migraines throughout my life, but they were never very often. However, that changed since I've been diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia (as well as other chronic pain issues). Especially since the fibro was discovered (about 15 years ago), my migraines have increased in frequency. The week before last, I had 3 in that week alone.
Avatar f tn m right and these headaches are being caused by the analgesics the only solution I see here is to somehow wean totally off the oxycontin. The bone and muscle pain is unbearable and I cannot walk without the oxycontin but the headaches incapacitate me too. I don't want to simply exist. I want to participate in life.
1056589 tn?1273747102 If this happens to you, tell your healthcare provider before taking any more IMITREX Tablets. If the chest pain, tightness, or pressure is severe or does not go away, call your healthcare provider right away. • Call your healthcare provider right away if you have sudden and/or severe abdominal pain after you take IMITREX Tablets.
Avatar f tn I know I have Imitrex and I'm on Topamax for preventative. This is more tension than migraine...it's almost as painful, but different type of pain. And the Imitrex only works if it's a true migraine and I've wasted the last 3 Imitrex hoping it would help, and those suckers aren't cheap!!! But I REALLY appreciate the advice....I really do.
561539 tn?1216438257 I took imitrex for the second time ever over the weekend. I stopped over 24 hours ago and still might right side of nose and face from cheek up is completely numb. the medicine should be out of my system by now. i have a regular md appt tomorrow because i'm scared. is it medicine damage (which should be out of my system) or is it migraine damage?
Avatar n tn I took botox injections in the neck and shoulder plus muscle relaxants and some narcotic pain medication as needed before getting pregnant -- and imitrex for the headaches. My OB has given me lortab to take and she feels comfortable with it on a an as needed basis. I am looking for some more comfort that this ok -- I took it with my first baby as well -- but still. She also gave me the option of tramadol.
341655 tn?1240368839 However an injection will provide quick relief from migraine pain as it reaches faster into the blood stream as compared to pills. Imitrex injection provides relief in about 10 minutes. Injections are usually prescribed in people who want quick relief from rapid onset migraine or suffer from morning migraines. Hope this answers your question.
1285921 tn?1271718059 5 months ago I injured my back. I have allot of other pain issues as well including two bulging discs in my neck, fused ankle arthritis in my knee, tendinitis in my knee, bursitis around my ischial process, and I also suffer from peripheral neuropathy. Since the injury, even tho it is healed I have been experiencing migraines and other sever headaches, approximately 4 a week. I have been in therapy, gone to a chiropractor and I have seen a neurologist.
Avatar f tn also, if someone offered you a medication that worked as well as Imitrex, you would probably use it when you were in pain as a substitute for Imitrex... which all shows that Imitrex is in no way addictive. As for physical dependency... well, I have heard of the triptan Maxalt causing rebound headaches, which could be considered a type of physical dependency maybe... but, out of all of the triptans, the ONLY triptan that has shown this is Maxalt, not Imitrex.
Avatar f tn Do hemiplegic migraine symptoms become better or is there a lasting weakness or pain? I am confused because what I have read says that the stroke like symptoms become better. Whatever kind I have do not respond to imitrex but are better with tegretol. However, the weakness in my hand is constant. Is that permanent? What about the pain in my foot? And the sensation that my foot is frozen? They are not better, no matter what.
Avatar f tn Hello. I've been suffering from sever migraines for years but recently they have gotten worse.. For a week now I've had a constant pain. Ive tried imitrex and that hadn't help. I took a pain med n it help for a little while. But the pain is back ten fold. Is that because of the pain med.? Any suggestions on migraine medications?
Avatar f tn I went to a Med-Express for a Sinus Infection and given the choice of an Antibiotic or a round of Steroids, since the Steroids don's always work for me I went with the Antibiotic and was given Leviquin. The PA told me to take it with food because it might make me sick but did not tell me about any other side effects. I want to know why the medical community is not made to go over all possible side effects with the patients before they are given the medication?
1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
Avatar f tn Also my Aunt has terrible migraines all the time she was taking all the imitrex she could get was put on a muscle relaxer called soma , and her headaches are much easier to deal with!! GOOD LUCK! HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON!
518798 tn?1295212279 Good Morning guys! I woke up with another migraine this morning. This is the 3rd one this month. I usually have about 2 in a year, but never this close together and this often. I have been taking 1 imitrex when I have a headache. My question is, "Is Imitrex habit-forming?" I have researched all the websites, but they also say that ultram isn't habit forming. I was just wanting some info from someone who has taken it.
Avatar f tn I went to my doctor and she told me that the migraines were due to stress and prescribed a muscle relaxer and Imitrex. The migraines have reduced since then. I think I have had about 3 in the past 4 weeks, but now I'm have this intense pressure, tightness in my shoulders, neck, and back of my head. Sometimes it's so tight that it makes me dizzy. This has been going on for almost 2 weeks. It's a constant pressure and tight feeling.
Avatar f tn I am pretty loyal to Imitrex. But always at max dose of 200mg. There is a new drug from makers of Imitrex called Trixamet. It is Imitrex plus an NSAID. I got a sample from my doc. I loved it. Trixamet is supposed to be covered by any insurance that takes Imitrex, but mine doesn't cover it. Maybe yours will. Hope I helped.
591470 tn?1218975186 Have you tried Imitrex tabs or the Imitrex shot. When I was taking a course of chemo I had the worst migraines ever and the Imitrex really helped me. It gave me slight light headedness but well worth the side effects. It is by prescription. If you haven't tried it.....give it is shot. It might help.
Avatar f tn I wonder if Imitrex, which has worked for my migraine pain, would be okay to take for this paresthesia (without pain) which is apparently due to migraine?
635402 tn?1270162477 The new drug is to be called TREXIMET and according to the makers, was to be a vast improvement over Imitrex. Like Imitrex, it is made to be taken at the onset of a migraine, but is supposed to work faster and better to reduce migraine pain. GSK has spent several years and millions of dollars researching and "pre-marketing" Treximet in anticipation of FDA approval and product launch. So what's the deal? Is this really better than Imitrex alone?
2069693 tn?1331365365 As of now Ive had a migraine for 7 straight days! Its horrible!!! Ive taken Demerol, imitrex, tylenol/cod., Ibuprofen (with caffeine), tomamax...on and on. can someone please suggest, or give me some feed back !
Avatar f tn After taking 100mg of Imitrex for my migraines, within 3 hours after I usually feel all of a sudden kind of "out of it". I am just really "slow" feeling and neutral in personality unlike usual. Is this typical? Why does it do this?
Avatar n tn ve eaten food or not. Once the vomiting starts, I am unable to take anything orally - pain meds or even water. Does anyone know of a patch or cream that can be applied as a pain reliever for the migraine? Or maybe to at least stop the vomiting?
Avatar m tn Most days I have bad lower back pain upon waking in the morning, and it often wakes me up at night. If it is so severe, it often leads to a headache. Some days my joints ache due to arthritis and/or weather changes. Several years ago, I discovered Excedrin Migraine (acetaminophen, aspirin and caffeine) really helped out. Now I find that I am sensitive to it along with just aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and naproxen sodium.
