Common Questions and Answers about Imitrex mg

imitrex

Avatar f tn I still suffer almost daily headaches. When I take 50 mg of Imitrex (daily) the headache is gone within an hour. Dr. says I take too much Imitrex, but without it I am curled up in a fetal position, in a dark, quiet room, trying not to move for 12 hours... I am so worried that the Dr. will quit prescribing Imitrex (one already did) and I will be left without a life... I don't know what to do.
Avatar f tn But my neurologist prescribed both 10 mg of Amitriptyline and Imitrex. So I think it should be fine. You can ask a pharmacist or your doctor to make sure. But I am on both of those plus Trokendi XR and Clonazepam.
591470 tn?1218975186 Have you tried Imitrex tabs or the Imitrex shot. When I was taking a course of chemo I had the worst migraines ever and the Imitrex really helped me. It gave me slight light headedness but well worth the side effects. It is by prescription. If you haven't tried it.....give it is shot. It might help.
Avatar m tn I take Imitrex when I get them, and it usually works great, but today I have taken the maximum dose on my Rx for a 24 hr. period (200 mg) and it's still not gone. I am wondering if I went to the ER, is there something else they could do -- could they give me more Imitrex, or another triptan or something else to try to stop it? I don't want opiates. Any thoughts appreciated.
Avatar n tn My brother takes elavil for his migraines...10 mg a night ..he has suffered from them since childhood..i remember him being in bed all day throwing up when we were young..i am on it for chronic back pain and he is on it too now...his headaches have decreased tremendously..
Avatar m tn I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.
Avatar f tn I don't have much of a question, but wanted to introduce myself. I've periodically had migraines throughout my life, but they were never very often. However, that changed since I've been diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia (as well as other chronic pain issues). Especially since the fibro was discovered (about 15 years ago), my migraines have increased in frequency. The week before last, I had 3 in that week alone.
969557 tn?1314370614 I've had this terrible headaches lately, and even 1500 mg Paracetamol combined with 600 mg Ibumetin doesn't take it away. I'm about 4 months post EOT now. I am wondering if this is some post tx-trouble or if I should look for other reasons. Anyone else had similar experince?
635402 tn?1270162477 The new drug is to be called TREXIMET and according to the makers, was to be a vast improvement over Imitrex. Like Imitrex, it is made to be taken at the onset of a migraine, but is supposed to work faster and better to reduce migraine pain. GSK has spent several years and millions of dollars researching and "pre-marketing" Treximet in anticipation of FDA approval and product launch. So what's the deal? Is this really better than Imitrex alone?
390338 tn?1206462648 I take vitamin B2 (200 mg 2x day) and magnesium (250 mg 2 x day) as preventatives, both prescribed by my nuero. I have been taking since July 2007. Not sure if they help.. I am also taking Topamax too.. so far I'm up to 75 mg a day. Has the Topamax been helping you? I still have migraines most days. There is a lot of research that both of these vitamins do help.. I will take any added relief I can get! I'm curious why your dr. gave you Frova?
Avatar m tn I am a 50 yr old male in decent but not great shape. I like to play tennis in the summer but one of the drawbacks is a migraine after playing in the sun/heat/humidity. I have since realized that I've gotten sick from prolonged exertion to the sun/heat since I was a kid & played little league. I do take Imitrex for the Migraines (I have 4 sisters who also deal with Migraines so obviously hereditary).
1577473 tn?1296177286 Hello, I am a 21 year old college student and I have had the occasional migraine all my life. In September I started getting migraines more frequently. I had a really nasty one that forced me to go to a walk in clinic for some immediate care. I got a shot of Torridol that didn't work and a prescription for 100 mg Imitrex. The Imitrex didn't even touch the migraine and I wasn't happy with the side effects.

Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.

Avatar n tn t get imitrex tablets, get the imitrex or generic nasal spray or imitrex or generic injection OR treximex tablets but NOT imitrex tablets. - Zolmitriptan. brand name Zomig. this is what i use. (although i have used all of them at some point) don't get the tablets... like imitrex, the tablets don't work. But, the nasal spray DOES work incredibly well and this is what is usually prescribed anyway. - Almotriptan. brand name Axert. a very powerful triptan tablet.

I beleive there is a few others I just can't think of them at this time) I am now being treated with Zonegran, Depakote. Avatar f tn I am pretty loyal to Imitrex. But always at max dose of 200mg. There is a new drug from makers of Imitrex called Trixamet. It is Imitrex plus an NSAID. I got a sample from my doc. I loved it. Trixamet is supposed to be covered by any insurance that takes Imitrex, but mine doesn't cover it. Maybe yours will. Hope I helped.
