Common Questions and Answers about Imitrex joint pain

imitrex

Avatar f tn I don't have much of a question, but wanted to introduce myself. I've periodically had migraines throughout my life, but they were never very often. However, that changed since I've been diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia (as well as other chronic pain issues). Especially since the fibro was discovered (about 15 years ago), my migraines have increased in frequency. The week before last, I had 3 in that week alone.
341655 tn?1240368839 However an injection will provide quick relief from migraine pain as it reaches faster into the blood stream as compared to pills. Imitrex injection provides relief in about 10 minutes. Injections are usually prescribed in people who want quick relief from rapid onset migraine or suffer from morning migraines. Hope this answers your question.
1056589 tn?1273747102 If this happens to you, tell your healthcare provider before taking any more IMITREX Tablets. If the chest pain, tightness, or pressure is severe or does not go away, call your healthcare provider right away. • Call your healthcare provider right away if you have sudden and/or severe abdominal pain after you take IMITREX Tablets.
Avatar f tn also, if someone offered you a medication that worked as well as Imitrex, you would probably use it when you were in pain as a substitute for Imitrex... which all shows that Imitrex is in no way addictive. As for physical dependency... well, I have heard of the triptan Maxalt causing rebound headaches, which could be considered a type of physical dependency maybe... but, out of all of the triptans, the ONLY triptan that has shown this is Maxalt, not Imitrex.
Avatar f tn Hello. I've been suffering from sever migraines for years but recently they have gotten worse.. For a week now I've had a constant pain. Ive tried imitrex and that hadn't help. 1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
Avatar f tn I know I have Imitrex and I'm on Topamax for preventative. This is more tension than migraine...it's almost as painful, but different type of pain. And the Imitrex only works if it's a true migraine and I've wasted the last 3 Imitrex hoping it would help, and those suckers aren't cheap!!! But I REALLY appreciate the advice....I really do.
Avatar m tn Hello, have you ever tried any physical therapy in the past and learned the core muscle stretching exercises? I truly have never been an athletic person, but I started therapy about 6 weeks ago 2 times a week and have really noticed a decrease in my morning pain (mornings until about noon are my worst times also). If I miss a day stretching at home, I can tell a huge difference the next morning.
518798 tn?1295212279 Good Morning guys! I woke up with another migraine this morning. This is the 3rd one this month. I usually have about 2 in a year, but never this close together and this often. I have been taking 1 imitrex when I have a headache. My question is, "Is Imitrex habit-forming?" I have researched all the websites, but they also say that ultram isn't habit forming. I was just wanting some info from someone who has taken it.
Avatar f tn I am pretty loyal to Imitrex. But always at max dose of 200mg. There is a new drug from makers of Imitrex called Trixamet. It is Imitrex plus an NSAID. I got a sample from my doc. I loved it. Trixamet is supposed to be covered by any insurance that takes Imitrex, but mine doesn't cover it. Maybe yours will. Hope I helped.
Avatar m tn I also have Imitrex to take just in case. I have a lot of joint pain. It started in my hips. I was told I have bursitis because it gets so bad I can barely walk sometimes. I have had cortisone injections to help with it. Those work for a short time only. My joint pain has now moved to my knees, ankles and shoulders. My psychiatrist thinks I have Restless Leg Syndrome, so I am on Requip for that. It doesn't work anymore after being on it for less then 3 months.
591470 tn?1218975186 Have you tried Imitrex tabs or the Imitrex shot. When I was taking a course of chemo I had the worst migraines ever and the Imitrex really helped me. It gave me slight light headedness but well worth the side effects. It is by prescription. If you haven't tried it.....give it is shot. It might help.
Avatar f tn I wonder if Imitrex, which has worked for my migraine pain, would be okay to take for this paresthesia (without pain) which is apparently due to migraine?
635402 tn?1270162477 The new drug is to be called TREXIMET and according to the makers, was to be a vast improvement over Imitrex. Like Imitrex, it is made to be taken at the onset of a migraine, but is supposed to work faster and better to reduce migraine pain. GSK has spent several years and millions of dollars researching and "pre-marketing" Treximet in anticipation of FDA approval and product launch. So what's the deal? Is this really better than Imitrex alone?
Avatar f tn After taking 100mg of Imitrex for my migraines, within 3 hours after I usually feel all of a sudden kind of "out of it". I am just really "slow" feeling and neutral in personality unlike usual. Is this typical? Why does it do this?
Avatar n tn ve eaten food or not. Once the vomiting starts, I am unable to take anything orally - pain meds or even water. Does anyone know of a patch or cream that can be applied as a pain reliever for the migraine? Or maybe to at least stop the vomiting?
Avatar f tn t your granddaughter have a prescription to some strong pain pills? They need to be taken soon after the migraines develop or they get a life of their own. That would be wiser than going to the ER and getting the really tough stuff.
Avatar n tn I been getting migraines for about 8 years now. I am 26 yrs old. I get the pain in 1 spot on the right side of my forehead and a pain coming from the back of my neck at the same time. The only thing to help this go away is 100mg's of imitrex. I can't figure out what triggers these after all this time...I just wish there was a way I got a million tests such as mri's, catscans, medication to prevent them etc...I just wish they would go away forever i don't know what else to do..
Avatar n tn I'm not a doctor, but every time I get a migraine, which I've been getting for 16 years, I've noticed that during the most severe migraines, I'm very nauseous and even thrown up...which made my migraine so bad, that I had to got o the hospital for pain meds. The only medicine that got rid of my migraine (and the nausea) was Imitrex. I've even gotten the imitrex shot. Have you tried Imitrex?

Anything, yes, anything - that changes your mood, alters your personality, or changes the way you feel, or sense pain - will, can and is addicting.
561539 tn?1216438257 I took imitrex for the second time ever over the weekend. I stopped over 24 hours ago and still might right side of nose and face from cheek up is completely numb. the medicine should be out of my system by now. i have a regular md appt tomorrow because i'm scared. is it medicine damage (which should be out of my system) or is it migraine damage?
507619 tn?1211845850 I use the Imitrex nasal spray and it gets rid of my headaches with no euphoria or narcotic "haze".
Avatar f tn addition notes. dont take pain killers they make migraines come back much worse when they wear off. pain killers do nothing for inflammation. consider getting a blood glucose test and testing yourself. thats what im doing next. and botox is not a cure but it does help reduce attacks. exercise and get a sleep routine vs sleeping in and staying up late one day then doing something entirely different the next. our systems are sensative and best thing to do is not stress it out.
