imitrex

Avatar n tn I used to get them everyday in high school (15 years ago) but I found out it was due to TMJ and I started wearing a splint to correct my jaw and after my jaw was corrected, the migraines disappeared. But if you are having them on a daily basis along with rebound headaches (those are the absolute worst I know!), you might want to ask your doctor about Maxalt.

Avatar f tn I don't have much of a question, but wanted to introduce myself. I've periodically had migraines throughout my life, but they were never very often. However, that changed since I've been diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia (as well as other chronic pain issues). Especially since the fibro was discovered (about 15 years ago), my migraines have increased in frequency. The week before last, I had 3 in that week alone.
Avatar n tn I have been put on everything from narcotics (which I refuse and hate) to Beta Blockers. (Which Do help) Currently on Propanol. But my very FIRST and ONLY time using Imitrex Oral Capsule. I took the medication and I was sitting in my reclining chair and in about 15 mins I became paralyzed for 2.5-3 hours. I had no other medications in my system. I DO NOT use drugs or drink alcohol. Only Imitrex. My husband honestly thought I was joking. I could not lift my head.
Avatar f tn i am on meds for depression osteoporosis, thyroid and cholesterol. I have pain pills for my back legs and my jaw. could any of this be a factor. I stay so mixed up I don't know what to do. the doc doesn't ever take me serious about my headaches., I am so tired of all this.
Avatar f tn addition notes. dont take pain killers they make migraines come back much worse when they wear off. pain killers do nothing for inflammation. consider getting a blood glucose test and testing yourself. thats what im doing next. and botox is not a cure but it does help reduce attacks. exercise and get a sleep routine vs sleeping in and staying up late one day then doing something entirely different the next. our systems are sensative and best thing to do is not stress it out.
Avatar f tn Hi. How are you? TMJ headaches usually present with muscle-contraction type of pain, sometimes accompanied by a painful "clicking" sound on opening the jaw. With the normal results on your MRI, you may indeed benefit from further evaluation by a neurologist to rule out other neurological issues. A headache journal may also help identify possible triggers, such as environmental or work-related, that you could avoid.
Avatar f tn I've recently been going to a neurologist for a very difficult time with temple pain and upper jaw pain on the right side. For the last two months, I've tried Gabapentin, Amitriptyline, Imitrex, Butalbital, Propanynol and now Toppomax. The doc at first thought it was migraines, but I was not convinced. I can look directly at the sun any time, listen to loud music and have no nausea. The pain is constant has has been. It throbs and seems to stem directly from the temple.
444932 tn?1273980797 If its a migraine which usually is on one side of your head, jaw ect. you can get a perscription non-narc called imitrex...Excedrin for migraine or some of the generics have caffine. The caffine can get rid of my migraines better than any opiate. Watch if your not sleeping though it will keep you up. The imitrex won't if you can get it from your doc.
Avatar n tn I saw a doctor and got an MRI which turned out all good except for some inflammation of the jaw. Every 4 or 5 days I have been getting these pretty intense headaches that start on the right side and kind of move around. These headaches are accompanied by wavy vision that makes it hard for me to focus on one thing for a long time, especially when sitting in class as I am a college student.
Avatar n tn In addition, many medications used to treat migraine headache (Excedrin Migraine Pain Reliever/Pain Reliever Aid, oxygen, prednisone [Deltasone]) can also be used for cluster headache. You should consult a neurologist regarding these treatment options. Apart from this avoid stressful events, develop a regular sleep patterna d do daily exercises. 341655 tn?1240368839 However an injection will provide quick relief from migraine pain as it reaches faster into the blood stream as compared to pills. Imitrex injection provides relief in about 10 minutes. Injections are usually prescribed in people who want quick relief from rapid onset migraine or suffer from morning migraines. Hope this answers your question.
1056589 tn?1273747102 If this happens to you, tell your healthcare provider before taking any more IMITREX Tablets. If the chest pain, tightness, or pressure is severe or does not go away, call your healthcare provider right away. • Call your healthcare provider right away if you have sudden and/or severe abdominal pain after you take IMITREX Tablets.
Avatar f tn also, if someone offered you a medication that worked as well as Imitrex, you would probably use it when you were in pain as a substitute for Imitrex... which all shows that Imitrex is in no way addictive. As for physical dependency... well, I have heard of the triptan Maxalt causing rebound headaches, which could be considered a type of physical dependency maybe... but, out of all of the triptans, the ONLY triptan that has shown this is Maxalt, not Imitrex.
Avatar f tn I saw the neuro-psychologist for the results last week. Thankfully, everything looks good for now. She started to give me a big speech about the DMD and how the goal is to keep my cognitive fcn where it's at, and that they all work equally well, but that I should start on one. I interupted her to remind her that I'm not dx and can't start any DMD. She suggested I make an appt to talk to my neuro (whom she knows) about how she feels about making a dx w/o MRI evidence (i.e.
Avatar n tn We went to the psychiatrist to rule out anything psychological. He was depressed BECAUSE of his headaches, and not vice versa.
Avatar f tn Hello. I've been suffering from sever migraines for years but recently they have gotten worse.. For a week now I've had a constant pain. Ive tried imitrex and that hadn't help. 1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
Avatar f tn I know I have Imitrex and I'm on Topamax for preventative. This is more tension than migraine...it's almost as painful, but different type of pain. And the Imitrex only works if it's a true migraine and I've wasted the last 3 Imitrex hoping it would help, and those suckers aren't cheap!!! But I REALLY appreciate the advice....I really do.
Avatar n tn Also neck, jaw, ear and facial pain, some motion sickness too. Was taking a ton of pain meds and topomax and imitrex every other day , sinus meds- you name it I took it and nothing was controlling it. Woke with a headache every day, was with me all day, went migraine at night. Was horrible and I'm no wuss when it comes to pain believe me. I ended up in the ER Oct 18th with a migraine we couldn't stop. I literally cried for hours, two doses of IV meds, stayed in bed a week.

NO WE WANT HELP!!!! what do we do???
Avatar f tn t your granddaughter have a prescription to some strong pain pills? They need to be taken soon after the migraines develop or they get a life of their own. That would be wiser than going to the ER and getting the really tough stuff.
