imitrex

768044 tn?1294223436 So, he prescribed me Imitrex Injection (Sumatriptan Injection). I dropped off the prescription at the pharmacy after the appointment and they told me I could pick it up tomorrow morning. He said he also prescribed Imitrex Injection for his cluster headache patients too. I had a migraine tonight but it was a normal migraine and my zomig+naproxen+analgesic cream took care of it. So all in all today was a pretty good day.
Avatar n tn The only medication that help me is a cocktail of 2 aspirins, 2 Tylenol and 2 Motrin 800mg, if I catch it at the beginning. I f is too late,Imitrex 100mg works for me, specially the injection, pills are prone to take effect a bit later, but the injection is inmediate .
Avatar m tn Imitrex ALSO comes in a nasal spray and an injection. The imitrex tablet should work in HALF AN HOUR. The imitrex nasal spray can work in 10-20 minutes.... same with the injection pretty much. But, if you ever get a prescription for a triptan that is NOT imitrex, make sure that it is a quick dissolve tablet or a nasal spray... the only two nasal sprays I know of are imitrex and zomig (what I take) and the only quick dissolve tablets I know of are imitrex, zomig and maxalt.
1125820 tn?1265284446 The bioavailability of Imitrex tablets is pretty pathetic, honestly, so Imitrex Injection is VERY different then Imitrex tablets or Imitrex Nasal Spray. Also, which Maxalt did you try? Did you try the regular Maxalt tablets or the Maxalt-MLTs? The Maxalt-MLTs are the orally disintegrating tablets. The Maxalt-MLTs work better than the regular Maxalt tablets. If you haven't tried Maxalt-MLTs yet, I would suggest giving those a try too. Which Zomig did you try?
172336 tn?1202254641 I am week 30 of peg/riba treatment. I went on Procrit 4 months ago, started w/1 injection per week. I am now on 1 injection every 2 weeks. This keeps me stable at 10.3, I have had no side affects from procrit and feel quite good. I am able to actually have a productive life!!! Best of luck to you with treatment.
1079216 tn?1258200805 BUT, the bioavailability of Imitrex injection is remarkably higher at 97%. Basically, Imitrex Injection (which is an easy to use subcutaneous injection pen, much like the sort of injection that diabetics give themselves) works just as well as Imitrex by intravenous injection like they would give you at the hospital. So, if you are not already using Imitrex Injection, I would highly recommend asking your neurologist about it.
Avatar f tn My dr recently told me that they are changing one of my meds from lortab to norco, same dosage but less acetaminophen. They also said they would be changing from 3x to 4x per day. I had a migraine during visit and wasn't thinking very clearly, so I didn't think to ask why the increase. I will ask this during my next visit, but in the meantime am wondering if anyone had had a similar situation or may offer any info. Thank you and best wishes for a great day.
Avatar n tn t get imitrex tablets, get the imitrex or generic nasal spray or imitrex or generic injection OR treximex tablets but NOT imitrex tablets. - Zolmitriptan. brand name Zomig. this is what i use. (although i have used all of them at some point) don't get the tablets... like imitrex, the tablets don't work. But, the nasal spray DOES work incredibly well and this is what is usually prescribed anyway. - Almotriptan. brand name Axert. a very powerful triptan tablet.
Avatar n tn I have the EXACT same thing. I've tried Imitrex tablets (no help since I threw them up), Imitrex Nasel Spray (once again, no help because I threw it up), Imitrex Injection (have you tried this? I couldn't keep taking because of an allergic reaction). Another good option is Relpax. It is a tablet BUT one of the benifits is that it helps with vomiting also. I did fine on this and I'm a huge vomiter (yuck, lack of a better word). Sure wish I had insurance still...
Avatar f tn The Frova is starting not to have an effect and Imitrex injection works. What would cause me to continually wake up early mornings with pounding migraines. I don't have and endless supply of medicine. Does any one have an opinion what is going on? I have a very good diet and don't drink..please advise........
Avatar n tn Recently the Doctor moved the dosage up to 300 mg. Several months after that he started experiencing migraine headaches. Since then he has been to 4 Neurologists, had two MRI's, a Lumbar Puncture, a Blood patch from the lumbar puncture. He has had Toradol injections, Imitrex injections, been on all types of pain meds. The first MRI showed a cholesterol granduloma in his peatrous appex.
768044 tn?1294223436 In the comments below, let us know if your triptan is a tablet, an orally disintegrating tablet, a nasal spray or an injection, especially if the triptan is Imitrex, Zomig or Maxalt (as these medications come in multiple delivery methods). Feel free to discuss how satisfied you are with your current triptan medication and if you have any specific complaints, compliments or comments about the treatment.
Avatar f tn I don't have much of a question, but wanted to introduce myself. I've periodically had migraines throughout my life, but they were never very often. However, that changed since I've been diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia (as well as other chronic pain issues). Especially since the fibro was discovered (about 15 years ago), my migraines have increased in frequency. The week before last, I had 3 in that week alone.
Avatar f tn I have tried numerous medications. (Amerge, Imitrex, Toradol, Fioricet, Maxalt, Indocin, Lithium, Imitrex Injections, Vicodin, Perocet.. I beleive there is a few others I just can't think of them at this time) I am now being treated with Zonegran, Depakote. The Zonegran was working for a little while but I have seemed to reach a plateau. I have not been migraine free at all since November, but there have been times where my migraines have been less painful.
635402 tn?1270162477 The new drug is to be called TREXIMET and according to the makers, was to be a vast improvement over Imitrex. Like Imitrex, it is made to be taken at the onset of a migraine, but is supposed to work faster and better to reduce migraine pain. GSK has spent several years and millions of dollars researching and "pre-marketing" Treximet in anticipation of FDA approval and product launch. So what's the deal? Is this really better than Imitrex alone?
1508698 tn?1360215710 hi sorry you are having the headaches...i used to get them as well....luckily i haven't had one in a long time....i've read that Imitrex isn't a narcotic so maybe ask about that?? i don't know anything about it, never taken it but a friend of mine did....and when i had them, i took Excedrin Migraine..otc...it seemed to help. hope you feel better soon!!
518798 tn?1295212279 Good Morning guys! I woke up with another migraine this morning. This is the 3rd one this month. I usually have about 2 in a year, but never this close together and this often. I have been taking 1 imitrex when I have a headache. My question is, "Is Imitrex habit-forming?" I have researched all the websites, but they also say that ultram isn't habit forming. I was just wanting some info from someone who has taken it.
Avatar m tn That is why you need to get a triptan in either a nasal spray or a quick dissolve tablet, such as zomig nasal spray or imitrex nasal spray or maxalt quick dissolve tablets. There is also a injection that would be fast acting too... but, they only prescribe the injection in very severe cases since no one wants to use an injection, but it is called a sumatriptan pen (because the needle sort of looks like a pen). The fastest that Zomig Nasal Spray can work is 10 minutes.
Avatar f tn I wanted to mention that if you take any of the sumatriptans (Imitrex, Maxalt, etc. whether it is pill, injection, nasal spray etc.) the neurologist said if you take it more than twice a week your brain rapidly gets used to them and causes rebound migraines. So you may want to keep that in mind.
Avatar n tn The headache started very badly one morning and i vomited 15 times in 3 hours,i had to rush to the doctors to get a pain killing injection..Since this episode i have moderate headaches everyday, if the pain increases the nausea starts.does anybody have any idea what could be causing this?i am now being sent to a nerologist.
Avatar n tn I took my HCG injection last night in preparation for a retrieval tomorrow. I spent last night throwing up every hour, is this normal? Anyone else get this sick from all the hormones and HCG?
Avatar m tn The most effective triptans are the quick-absorbing triptans, such as Zomig Nasal Spray, Maxalt-MLTs, or Imitrex Injection. Imitrex Injection is rarely used since it is an injection, but Zomig Nasap Spray or Maxalt-MLTs are simple to take and usually work for most people. Sometimes people use a medication called Naproxen in combination with their triptans, and that works very well.
Avatar n tn I've had what the doctors call cluster migraines for about 15 years. I've been many times to the doctor, although when I was younger they said there was no pills for this type of thing. They will come often, mostly a constant pressure that will build up now and again for weeks or months at a time, with short reprieves for a month or two.
Avatar f tn Hi Mary. I can totally understand your frustration with your health. I am much like you in that I am most often in those same rooms. I am still adjusting to the idea that I can no longer do many of the things I loved to do and that my life has changed dramatically because of my illness. It is isolating and definitely can cause one to be depressed. You aren't alone. I was also a Type A and i'm finding that most who have fibro were also.
Avatar f tn ) I stopped taking it. I would use it if the headache/migraine wasnt bad enough to take Imitrex. It worked well for me.... but dont take too much...it did not make me feel "high" either....
