Avatar n tn t get imitrex tablets, get the imitrex or generic nasal spray or imitrex or generic injection OR treximex tablets but NOT imitrex tablets. - Zolmitriptan. brand name Zomig. this is what i use. (although i have used all of them at some point) don't get the tablets... like imitrex, the tablets don't work. But, the nasal spray DOES work incredibly well and this is what is usually prescribed anyway. - Almotriptan. brand name Axert. a very powerful triptan tablet.
Avatar n tn I tried it for a day or two but I could not tolerate the side effects, so stopped. I have had to wait 2 weeks to get an appointment with my Dr. I will see him tomorrow. Meanwhile I now have an ever increasing heart rate and other symptoms mentioned in your website. How do I explain all this to my Dr?
1056589 tn?1273747102 I am concerned about side effects. I have complcated migraines with aura(most of the time). My migraines mimic stroke(rolling one sided numbness, facial droop, speech issues etc).I also get elevated BP and heartrate when it's happening. So when I read that Imetrex can cause these symptom it concerned me. How would I be able to tell the difference? What are your experiences with it? Thanks ,Theresa....
Avatar f tn I'm back with another question :-). DS is 11.5 yo, recently diagnosed. He was put on topamax and imitrex for migraines which are supposedly unrelated and are what sent us to the neurologist in the first place. Migraines continue, some tingling in hands and feet, which is likely the topamax. However, today he had a migraine (been on topamax just over three weeks). Once it wore off I took him to school.
1103688 tn?1257894552 Can increase up to 600mg daily if no improvement at 400mg and no side-effects seen at 600mg. Side-effects at higher doses may include stomach cramps and diarrhea. Do not use Magnesium if Diabetic unless prescribed and a Diabetic Specialist has also approved this treatment. Do not take Magnesium if you have a history of Kidney Stones unless prescribed and a Urologist has approved this treatment.
Avatar n tn Generic is not for everyone. The medication is the same but the base that a generic is put in is not. Levothyroxin had a very adverse affect on me. Tired, dizzy, and then only by what I can call them, brain flashes. I could see lights without having lights on. I knew something was wrong. When I asked, the pharmacy had chosen (Walgreens) to make a change to generic WITHOUT my consent because they thought it would be cheaper.
Avatar n tn Subtle curvilinear area of enhancement in the left side of the pons, image 17 of series 9. Increased T1 signal on the left side of the petrous apex may represent some proteinaceous fluid. Can someone tell me what this mean in English, please? The neurologist seems to think that my headaches returned because I was switched from the name brand TOPAMAX to the generic TOPIRAMATE. The time line of the med change & the return of the headaches would fit.
Avatar m tn Id suggest you read through this old thread on Imitrex. It was very interesting. http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Addiction-Substance-Abuse/Imitrex---addicting-or-not/show/626880 ______________________________________________________ Here's a couple of the responses in the thread: By: masteele80 here is the lay of the land by someone who has taken almost everything.
2104296 tn?1334841551 I just got a new doctor and she took me off cause of the huge side effects I was experiencing Which was a good thing. I was also on the pain medication Vicodin to take when needed, too take the edge off the pain. The new doctor does not want me to take any kind of pain medication to help take the edge off. I think she is afraid of prescribing pain meds to anyone. I have stopped take any medication right now for my migraines. I need advice on what to do?
Avatar f tn Side effects of Maxalt is pressure in your chest & throat. I did ok the times I've only needed it once. But, today I had to take it twice. After that second dose...omg, the pressure is HORRIBLE!!!!!!! I honestly think it is worse than a migraine. There are no words to describe it. You can't breathe & you can barely swallow just your saliva! I'm wondering if it is side effects that get better the more you take it? And if it does...
Avatar f tn the only meds that help relieve most of the pain are Zomig (really expensive, but no generic version yet) and Meloxicam (generic for Mobic) - both pills taken together usually decrease pain within an hour or two. Hope this helps. My doc also suggested Imitrex when I can't afford the Zomig anymore.
1524673 tn?1327841500 I had a neurologist who wasn't afraid to experiment, even if the drug wasn't labelled as a migraine preventative. We tried topamax (likely it was generic)- he mentioned how he heard some people liked it, I think it was in Europe, for the side effect it helped them lose weight. Well, it made me nervous, shaky, and my supervisor (before I was disabled) noticed a change in the pitch of my voice! So, dr. & I discontinued that experiment.
Avatar f tn I posted a question asking if zomig knocked other people out.... or if anyone found any sort of knock-out side-effects with triptans... I totally feel out of it after I take my triptans... it takes the pain away... but I am out of it... tired... fatigued... and even confused sometimes for hours after the migraine... sometimes for the rest of the day!!!
Avatar m tn I do NOT tolerate these tablets as well and have also tried the 10mg capsules with the same effects (less effective more side effects- nausea, dizziness, fat face, racing thoughts, decreased libido, nightmares, sleep disturbances, etc.).. I have called several pharmacies but they all have the blue tablets too -_-... Th side effects persist even after a month on the different pill forms too.. Any options left? Or must I suck it up and take a pill that makes me sick or discontinue usage...
561539 tn?1216438257 burning; dizziness; drowsiness; feeling of heaviness or pressure; muscle aches; numbness or tingling of the skin; sick feeling; tingling; tiredness; or warm/hot sensation. (http://www.drugs.com/sfx/imitrex-side-effects.html) Migraine manifests differently with each person. Aside from the one sided throbbing pain caused by migraine, nausea and vomiting, sensitivity to light or sound, loss of appetite, fatigue, numbness, tingling, or weakness may accompany migraines.
4980051 tn?1361868778 I have used trileptal. It is also a antiseizure med, and worked better than the topomax. The issue for me was that even at the absolute lowest effective dosage it was too sedating.
Avatar m tn I take melatonin, not nightly, but maybe two or three or four nights a week. I have tried to read up on side effects and have not found much information at all. I don't notice any side effects, myself. Since melatonin is a short-acting drug, and the therapeutic effects of it do not seem to last long at all, I'm thinking that any side effects would not last longer than a few hours or a day or two -- at most -- after you discontinued using it.
635402 tn?1270162477 Do not take more than 15 milligrams (mg) per day because higher doses increase the chance of stomach side effects. It may take up to two weeks before the full benefits of this drug take effect. Use this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. Remember to use it at the same time each day. Inform your doctor if your condition worsens. It was approved on 4-14-2000 by the FDA to initially treat osteoarthritis. The drug interferes with the anti inflammatory process.
2035835 tn?1336300786 My body adjusted to the side effects over time. But what it also did was prevent my body from sweating, and I still feel cold all the time. Also side effects from the medications. I didn't lose any weight unfortunately, I was kinda hoping for one good perk out of dealing with all the tingling. sometimes the sensation was so strong it was painful.
Avatar n tn Just a guess and a thought...angina can be a side effect of Synthroid (or any other brand or generic levo). Google "synthroid + angina" if you'd like to read up and see if that seems to be what you're experiencing. Do you know your FT3, FT4 and TSH levels? And the FT3 and FT4 reference ranges? If you're slightly overmedicated (as defined by FT3, NOT TSH), it could be causing this.
Avatar m tn However, these do not eliminate headaches completely, and some can even cause serious side effects. It is best that you see your doctor for proper management. Your medical history and direct clinical examination are important in evaluating the medicine suited for you. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I've been on a couple of different SSRI's Paxil(generic) and now on Prozaz. I have noticed that my memory doesn't seem to be as good as it use to be. I've always attributed to getting older and having a ton more stress in my life. I've done a lot of research on SSRI side effects and have never seen anything documented about memory loss. Getting off of Paxil (if that's what you decide to do) is very difficult.
518798 tn?1295212279 My neurologist wants me to discontinue Imitrex due to the side effects associated with it at my age as well as the overuse. I don't know what to do anymore. Headaches are completely ruining my life. At least with the Imitrex I can somewhat function. Help!
