Imitrex for hangovers

Common Questions and Answers about Imitrex for hangovers

imitrex

Avatar f tn Would it be possible to add symptoms associated with us rather than just discontinuation of use? Overdose, for example, or hangovers? It might be helpful for people to be able to look at what their habit is doing to them in a visual, quantifiable way.
Avatar f tn Im now on Butorphanol spray, demerol, ativan and sleeping pills, all for pain management, ,i have also been on preventatives for years,i have not worked for 20 yrs from my intense migraines. Although Imitrex im sure works for alot of people which is great if your body reacts well to it, unfortunately for me it didnt. Wishing you well in your journey.

709686 tn?1277432159 of all migraines hit me about 2pm. When I got home I took a 10mg Imitrex tablet and laid down. Now these Imitrex tablets make me very sleepy so once the headache began to fade I went soundly asleep around 6pm and slept until 6am. Since I skipped dinner last night I was quite weak this morning until I ate breakfast. I only took one 10mg norco tablet during this time as I am on my "taper" schedule. I was quite proud of myself.
1103688 tn?1257894552 Not all triptans are made with the same ingredients and so not all triptans will have the same side-effects. For example, Imitrex is the only triptan that is also a Sulfa drug (many people have Sulfa allergies). Imitrex is known to cause the side-effect you mentioned in some people, the severe heart palpitations.
Avatar f tn I had a similar problem with Maxalt (a drug in the same class as Relpax-they are both triptans). My insurance would only cover 12 pills, and I need more. My doctor filled out the necessary paperwork for my insurance co., saying I need more than "typically alotted". The pharmacy division of your insurance co. can give you more info. If that's not possible, have you tried another triptan? Maxalt, Imitrex, and Relpax all work for my migraines. Good luck!
1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
Avatar n tn t get imitrex tablets, get the imitrex or generic nasal spray or imitrex or generic injection OR treximex tablets but NOT imitrex tablets. - Zolmitriptan. brand name Zomig. this is what i use. (although i have used all of them at some point) don't get the tablets... like imitrex, the tablets don't work. But, the nasal spray DOES work incredibly well and this is what is usually prescribed anyway. - Almotriptan. brand name Axert. a very powerful triptan tablet.
Avatar m tn I suspect that our bodies try to warn us often of harmful things (ie, heartburn, bloating, hangovers, weight gain, etc., etc.) Our bodies know better than we what is good and what is bad for us. Our job is to listen. Too often we take Prilosec, Pepto Bismol, treat hangovers, etc., and continue the bad behaviors. In the long run all these things are still taking a toll on our bodies......and we keep the medical field in business, BIG business.
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
Avatar f tn also, if someone offered you a medication that worked as well as Imitrex, you would probably use it when you were in pain as a substitute for Imitrex... which all shows that Imitrex is in no way addictive. As for physical dependency... well, I have heard of the triptan Maxalt causing rebound headaches, which could be considered a type of physical dependency maybe... but, out of all of the triptans, the ONLY triptan that has shown this is Maxalt, not Imitrex.
19752744 tn?1483755092 I am a 22 year old female and for the past 2-3 years i always get THE WORST hangovers. I do already have severe anxiety and I do smoke cigarette. I drink maybe 2-3 times a week sometimes less.. and When i drink it can either be 2 glasses of wine OR a whole bottle or 2 with friends. My hangovers start like this. Wake up feeling sick/headache blah blah blah.. but then through out the day its like my body can't handle it.
Avatar f tn I really understand your pain. I've getting severe migraines for years. Have ever figured what the trigger for you is? Light, stress, food allergy? I started having them as a result of a bad snowboarding accident. I am pretty loyal to Imitrex. But always at max dose of 200mg. There is a new drug from makers of Imitrex called Trixamet. It is Imitrex plus an NSAID. I got a sample from my doc. I loved it.
531684 tn?1216745984 Are you on meds for your anxiety? I know alcohol can counter act the good things that your meds are doing for you, in turn making you feel anxious. I am on Lexapro, and if I have a couple of drinks, my morning anxiety is much worse, my days are not usually good ones.
518798 tn?1295212279 I do not believe it is habit forming..I took imitrex shots for many years for my migrains..never had a problem..but I didn't need to take it everyday..do you use the shots or pills..I know that you can take no more than 2 shots in a 24 hr period..I will tell you..Imitrex helped me sooo much..and funny thing..when I divorced the a$$ I was married to,my migraines went away..LOL..I'm serious..Now I have maybe 1 a year..but i have noticed that I have already had 2 now since june..
Avatar f tn Hello. I've been suffering from sever migraines for years but recently they have gotten worse.. For a week now I've had a constant pain. Ive tried imitrex and that hadn't help. I took a pain med n it help for a little while. But the pain is back ten fold. Is that because of the pain med.? Any suggestions on migraine medications?
Avatar f tn I feel so bad for you. I have never taken imitrex. I very rarely get migraines. If you busy your self with something mindless for about 1/2 hour, like tv or, reading something, see if symptoms temporarily subside. If you can get your mind off it, and on to something else, and pain goes away, its anxiety. Try a xanax. If xanax works, its anxiety. Keep me posted.
Avatar f tn I was given a list of drugs to review and stop taking any that I may be on for 10 days before procedure. I am having trouble determining whether my migraine medication, Imitrex, is one them. Sumitriptan and naproxen are not on the list, but since this drug narrows blood vessels, I wonder if it's best not to take it before surgery.
Avatar n tn Taking imitrex daily is likely setting her up for rebound headaches. I didn't take it daily, but experienced rebound headache before after taking imitrex. If she has not had an MRI (or CT scan) of her brain, her doctor should be ordering one to try to rule out brain tumor, aneurysm, or anything else that might cause headaches. You won't know if it's something like that until you test- so please urge her to get the pictures of her brain!
635402 tn?1270162477 From a strict treatment point of view, yes, the medication probably is better than Imitrex alone for a migraine. The reason for this is twofold. First of all, several years ago, Dr. Silberstein of the Jefferson Headache Center was able to demonstrate through research, that Imitrex combined with naprosyn taken at the onset of a migraine was better in treating that migraine than either drug alone. Such a combination is deemed synergistic, meaning basically that two plus two equals ten.
Avatar m tn Ric is right. Imitrex is not addictive. Have you tried botox for migraines? I have friends that have had AMAZING success with that.
