Imitrex and xanax

Common Questions and Answers about Imitrex and xanax

imitrex

Avatar f tn I used to get so many migraines and I was taking imitrex injections. When I moved the migraines got worse from stress and I started taking the imitrex daily, sometimes even multiple times a day. After about 3 months of this I started getting heart palpitations. They got so bad that I stopped taking my imitrex (cold turkey) on the whim that it was causing them. The palpitations started getting worse, but I had now talked myself into having a fear of imitrex (that it would kill me).
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
Avatar f tn Ziac is for high blood pressure and I doubt you have this at 20! Do you know why it was given to you? Imitrex is for migraines, do you get migraine headaches? Lexapro is used to treat anxiety and obcessive compulsive disorders (OCD). This is where one keeps doing something repeatedly, like handwashing, cleaning, checking locks, etc. People with OCD often have ADHD as well. Lexapro can calm you and help you concentrate, but it doesn't sound like it's working for you.
Avatar m tn I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.
Avatar f tn s experience with the imitrex has been - good or bad - and if they have any other tips of things I can try (non-medicinal) to reduce the pain, etc., of the migraines. Fortunately, (knock on wood), I haven't had a migraine since I saw my doc on thursday, so I haven't tried the imitrex yet. I'm always leary/hesitant about ANY new medication, so would definitely appreciate any advice about this med that anyone might have. Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn I have been put on everything from narcotics (which I refuse and hate) to Beta Blockers. (Which Do help) Currently on Propanol. But my very FIRST and ONLY time using Imitrex Oral Capsule. I took the medication and I was sitting in my reclining chair and in about 15 mins I became paralyzed for 2.5-3 hours. I had no other medications in my system. I DO NOT use drugs or drink alcohol. Only Imitrex. My husband honestly thought I was joking. I could not lift my head.
1051752 tn?1253833456 Advil is not migraine medication and can cause problems by making headaches worse. Imitrex is migraine medication that is specifically for migraine and it will stop a migraine. Most migraines do not come with aura. Take that into consideration when you get a headache that feels exactly like your regular migraine just without an aura. That means you are having a migraine. You don't need an aura to have a migraine. Take your migraine medication for a migraine.
Avatar f tn ve gotten mri mra mrv ct and cta. Neurologist only said pressure in my head and gave me xanax and topimax recently stopped using because of the effect on parenting it just don't work xanax is a drug that prevents you of anything even for self. So after stopping that he gave imitrex I almost died, couldn't move breathe speak anything. I'm so scared, I've noticed when being surprised or any excitement I get so weak to the point I could barely stand.
Avatar n tn Ask your doctor for Imitrex 100mg, is not narcotic, non addictive and it takes away your migraine right away. I'm also a migraine surferer and have tried a lot of medications and Imitrex works wonders.
1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
1056589 tn?1273747102 Imitrex is also not the only triptan on the market, there are quite a few. If you do end up using the Imitrex and you feel you have an adverse reaction to it, one that is not life-threatening but one that you do not enjoy... there are still other triptans to try.
Avatar f tn I know some may be sceptical by me asking this...with me being an addict and all....but I suffer chronic pain and have used fioricet occasionally for my tension headaches when unbearable. Now that I'm off percocet, and suffered dearly on withdrawls, I'm just curious if anyone thinks or knows if the fioricet will mess with my central nervous system-after the damage done by the opiates....I don't abuse the fioricet, never have, never will....
Avatar f tn I am sure in reduction sense I would have maybe broke it into quaters and then saw if I felt any change at all. Xanax is powerful as we know. Coming down a half might have a few kickback effects. Your body might need something and if the klonopin is doing nothing at all, your body might be screaming out for medication to help it. You are probably fed up with your dr changing your medication by now. Have you spoken with your dr about this? Or are you coming off these because you want to. Sorry.
Avatar n tn calcification, I also have an enlarged pancreatic duct and history of bile duct sclerosis. I have systemic sclerosis and have chronic gastric ulcers (no H-pyloric) and food bezoars for 10 years. I am supposed to be on liquid diet (I am not) and have gastroparesis and have gained 40 pounds in past two years. I have hypothyroidism for 33 years and empty sella syndrome.
1079216 tn?1258200805 Usually the bioavailability of a nasal spray will be higher than the bioavailability of a oral tablet, such as with the triptan Zomig, where the bioavailability of the oral tablets is 40% and the bioavailability of the nasal spray is 102% (when the bioavailability is higher than 100% it means that the medication by that route works better then it would by intravenous injection), although this sort of increase between oral administration and nasal administration is not the case with Imitrex.
979080 tn?1323433639 I have suffered exploding head syndrome (also known as migraines) for many, many years. I found that Imitrex didn't work and when they were severe would have to go to the hospital and be shot full of demerol and vistaril (an antihistamine that made me sleep). It was not until I could sleep would they go away. That sometimes was several rounds from bounceback migraines and I'd be in the ER for days (happened about 4 - 6 months ago).
Avatar f tn m not sure if my body had simply grown tolerant being on the same dose dly for 5-6 yrs or if it was because of the increased demands my body had to go through this past year, but I made the difficult decision to increase my oxycontin to 50mg three times dly. I have also been on fioricet and imitrex PRN for my many headaches and migraines. I suspect that my headaches have increased in frequency and intensity to the point that I have them daily because of all the meds I take.
Avatar f tn so there is no reason to become an addict or to crave the medication, but ones body will still become highly dependent on the medication to a point that if you take the body off the medication abruptly you can cause seizures and even death... Imitrex is NOT like that!! Imitrex does not cause any sort of high or euphoria so you cannot become addicted to it, you will not "crave" it when you are not in pain...
221913 tn?1372276661 I drink only one cup of coffee and that is in the morning. I take Xanax which i believe helps me sleep. I agree with FlGuy about taking the riba earlier in the day. My Doc told me that the riba would keep me up if i took it late. I take the am pill around 8 and the evening pill between 5 and 6 pm. I sleep pretty good. 5 yrs ago i tried tx and only lasted 3 wks because of the lack of sleep and sx's.
Avatar n tn Fioricet addiction is a pain, expensive, embarrasing....I hate it. I was addicted to Ambien and Cloranzepam and got off both of them by slowly shaving a bit of the pill away every three days. It takes a while but is possible and it made it bearable. I, too, wonder how I will manage my migraines without it. I also have 3 herniated discs in my neck, C4-C6, and the Fioricet helps with the neck spasms and pain. Any suggestions on how to handle the challenges without Fioricet?
518798 tn?1295212279 I will tell you..Imitrex helped me sooo much..and funny thing..when I divorced the a$$ I was married to,my migraines went away..LOL..I'm serious..Now I have maybe 1 a year..but i have noticed that I have already had 2 now since june..I think it's the same cause..

Avatar f tn I suffer from migraines and get relief from a drug called Amerge. I also take an AD, xanax, and Ambien for sleep. These drugs can be taken in tandem with the Amerge, which I only take when I have an attack. I'd suggest that you go to a neurologist who specializes in migraine, so they can determine the type of migraine that you have...there are cluster headaches, for example....one type of migraine....
