For years, I used the nasel or pill form of Imitrex. I, at the time in my life, was also going through a bunch of "Garbage" as I call it.. e.i., multiple tragedies back to back. I believed, at the time, that the onslaught of such stress was the reason for my memory loss in my years of 41-52ish.

does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.

I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.

s experience with the imitrex has been - good or bad - and if they have any other tips of things I can try (non-medicinal) to reduce the pain, etc., of the migraines. Fortunately, (knock on wood), I haven't had a migraine since I saw my doc on thursday, so I haven't tried the imitrex yet. I am the worst mommy I miscarried today and the reason we think it happen was Friday i got a migraine and knowing it is not pregnancy safe I still took my imitrex smfh I am not sure how I am going to be able to forgive myself for acting so selfish

My old migraines were a pain, literally, but I knew when the aura came that I better start looking for my Imitrex. And they became non-existent when we added topamax. However, I have had to stop that because of weight loss. This new stuff is not quite as easy to figure out and I really appreciate you taking the time to try to educate us on this forum. I am trying to keep a migraine journal and hopefully that will help me recognize the different triggers, etc.

I would suggest you to take imitrex for few days and see if it helps. Imitrex is very helpful in migraine.

I have been taking Imitrex for years and it is great for my migraines; but I am 53 yrs old and have memory loss too. I have short and long term memory lose . I was wondering if anyone else is having the same trouble?

I took imitrex for the second time ever over the weekend. I stopped over 24 hours ago and still might right side of nose and face from cheek up is completely numb. the medicine should be out of my system by now. i have a regular md appt tomorrow because i'm scared. is it medicine damage (which should be out of my system) or is it migraine damage?

I have been put on everything from narcotics (which I refuse and hate) to Beta Blockers. (Which Do help) Currently on Propanol. But my very FIRST and ONLY time using Imitrex Oral Capsule. I took the medication and I was sitting in my reclining chair and in about 15 mins I became paralyzed for 2.5-3 hours. I had no other medications in my system. I DO NOT use drugs or drink alcohol. Only Imitrex. My husband honestly thought I was joking. I could not lift my head.

Advil is not migraine medication and can cause problems by making headaches worse. Imitrex is migraine medication that is specifically for migraine and it will stop a migraine. Most migraines do not come with aura. Take that into consideration when you get a headache that feels exactly like your regular migraine just without an aura. That means you are having a migraine. You don't need an aura to have a migraine. Take your migraine medication for a migraine.

After the four day migraine my vision loss continued to get worse as well as the numbness, eye pressure, and head pain. Until about a week ago my vision was so bad I couldn't drive. Ask your doctor for Imitrex 100mg, is not narcotic, non addictive and it takes away your migraine right away. I'm also a migraine surferer and have tried a lot of medications and Imitrex works wonders.

Imitrex is also not the only triptan on the market, there are quite a few. If you do end up using the Imitrex and you feel you have an adverse reaction to it, one that is not life-threatening but one that you do not enjoy... there are still other triptans to try.

I have had 2 sets of TSH and T3 T4 tests in the last 6 months. The TSH is 0.32, and the T3, and T4 are said to be normal. I have suffered exploding head syndrome (also known as migraines) for many, many years. I found that Imitrex didn't work and when they were severe would have to go to the hospital and be shot full of demerol and vistaril (an antihistamine that made me sleep). m not sure if my body had simply grown tolerant being on the same dose dly for 5-6 yrs or if it was because of the increased demands my body had to go through this past year, but I made the difficult decision to increase my oxycontin to 50mg three times dly. so there is no reason to become an addict or to crave the medication, but ones body will still become highly dependent on the medication to a point that if you take the body off the medication abruptly you can cause seizures and even death... Imitrex is NOT like that!! Imitrex does not cause any sort of high or euphoria so you cannot become addicted to it, you will not "crave" it when you are not in pain...

) The only side effects that I did experience in the long time that I took the medication was that I was a little less astute/sharp, and I lost a good deal of weight. If nothing else, it is the craziest weight loss medication that you'll ever come across. I am 5' 7", and I have never been overweight. I was about 135 lbs. when I started Topamax and about 116 when I came off of it. So, if that scares you, then either take less or don't take it at all.
