does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.

I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.

s experience with the imitrex has been - good or bad - and if they have any other tips of things I can try (non-medicinal) to reduce the pain, etc., of the migraines. Fortunately, (knock on wood), I haven't had a migraine since I saw my doc on thursday, so I haven't tried the imitrex yet. Advil is not migraine medication and can cause problems by making headaches worse. Imitrex is migraine medication that is specifically for migraine and it will stop a migraine. Most migraines do not come with aura. Take that into consideration when you get a headache that feels exactly like your regular migraine just without an aura. That means you are having a migraine. You don't need an aura to have a migraine. Take your migraine medication for a migraine.

Ambien made me have hallucinations and the Topamax is giving me other issues including decreased sex drive. Don't take either. Talk to your dr to find something safe that won't harm you.

Ask your doctor for Imitrex 100mg, is not narcotic, non addictive and it takes away your migraine right away. I'm also a migraine surferer and have tried a lot of medications and Imitrex works wonders.

I suffer from migraines and get relief from a drug called Amerge. I also take an AD, xanax, and Ambien for sleep. These drugs can be taken in tandem with the Amerge, which I only take when I have an attack. I'd suggest that you go to a neurologist who specializes in migraine, so they can determine the type of migraine that you have...there are cluster headaches, for example....one type of migraine....

This headache/migraine just will not go away! Also can not sleep! I take an Ambein along with sleep aids and nothing! And the headache just pounds in the front. I'm a morning coffee drinker so I'm going to go get some coffee now. I've not slept in 2 1/2 days now and I'm just having a very difficult time with this. I'll hang in there though, I just wish the headache would go away. Nothing, and I mean nothing has worked for my headache and my inability to sleep.

Imitrex is also not the only triptan on the market, there are quite a few. If you do end up using the Imitrex and you feel you have an adverse reaction to it, one that is not life-threatening but one that you do not enjoy... there are still other triptans to try.

I was addicted to Ambien and Cloranzepam and got off both of them by slowly shaving a bit of the pill away every three days. It takes a while but is possible and it made it bearable. I, too, wonder how I will manage my migraines without it. I also have 3 herniated discs in my neck, C4-C6, and the Fioricet helps with the neck spasms and pain. Any suggestions on how to handle the challenges without Fioricet? Getting off of it has to be totally.

Ambien will help you get some sleep so yes I would say it is good. I worked for a Dr. before and the highest dose I saw given was a total of 12mg. So if the tab was 6mg then the patient could take 2. Taking 2 10mg of ambien seems a little high to me.Maybe someone else could answer better than me. I am one of those people that ambien doesn't work. I have suffered exploding head syndrome (also known as migraines) for many, many years. I found that Imitrex didn't work and when they were severe would have to go to the hospital and be shot full of demerol and vistaril (an antihistamine that made me sleep). In the beginning of this journey, I was taking 10mg of Ambien and 0.25mg of Xanax to sleep. Now, I am down to 2mg of Melatonin and 1/4 of a Xanax. I'm no doctor, so I definitely can't give you any medical information on Ambien, but I can relay my personal experience with it. I've been on Ambien (currently 10mg) for SEVERAL years now (5 or more). I have many chronic pain conditions, including fibroymalgia. One of the major symptoms of fibro is insomnia - which I definitely suffer from!

Does she think it's an issue? Personally,I think Ambien is a dangerous drug to be taking all the time. But,if she can't sleep and hasn't increased her dose for a year,then this is her lifestyle. I don't agree with it either but I know insomnia can be just horrible. There are other things she can take. If she wants to try it, suggest Melatonin and Valerian root. It's safe and it works for a lot of people. However,anyone on SSRI's should avoid Melatonin.

m not sure if my body had simply grown tolerant being on the same dose dly for 5-6 yrs or if it was because of the increased demands my body had to go through this past year, but I made the difficult decision to increase my oxycontin to 50mg three times dly. I have also been on fioricet and imitrex PRN for my many headaches and migraines. I suspect that my headaches have increased in frequency and intensity to the point that I have them daily because of all the meds I take.

so there is no reason to become an addict or to crave the medication, but ones body will still become highly dependent on the medication to a point that if you take the body off the medication abruptly you can cause seizures and even death... Imitrex is NOT like that!! Imitrex does not cause any sort of high or euphoria so you cannot become addicted to it, you will not "crave" it when you are not in pain...

Hello mom and welcome. Heroin and ambien are both central nervous system depressants. Taken together it is very dangerous as they both depress the respiratory and central nervous system. How old is your son? Does he live with you? How long has he been Abusing drugs for?

At least 6-7 years at a pop and can stop it with very mild consequences. Some lack of sleep and maybe some headaches and neck/back pain but really nothing. Try OTC Advil pm or something maybe.

She is sleep/wake having conversations she doesnt remember and and having conversations with us that did not happen, Sleep walking, cleaning.... Is this common and should Ambien be prescribed to teens with PTS?

I will tell you..Imitrex helped me sooo much..and funny thing..when I divorced the a$$ I was married to,my migraines went away..LOL..I'm serious..Now I have maybe 1 a year..but i have noticed that I have already had 2 now since june..I think it's the same cause..
