1153085 tn?1341301893 I'm not a doctor but your BMI is 20.7. Your BMI is normal. Your BMI should be between 18.5 and 24.9. Exercise at least 3 days a week for 30 minutes per day. Eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies and drink plenty of water. Stay healthy and have a happy New Year.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 29 year old female, 5'4 and 131 pounds. I recently lost over 100 pounds in the course of a year through diet and exercise. (starting weight 244 in September of 2010). I have always been overweight, and now have a lot of excess skin, which is to be expected. My question is about my ideal weight. My goal started at 150 pounds, then 140, then 130, now I'm thinking my ideal would be 120.
1938479 tn?1325705620 If Arnold Schwarzenegger was to use a BMI (weight vs height) chart while bodybuilding, it would have classified him as obese. Another way to look at fat versus muscles is that a cubic inch of muscle will weigh more than a cubic inch of fat. Muscle is about 18 percent more dense than fat. So a better question is am I in shape or do i need to convert more areas of fat to muscle? With that said, here is a weight chart that should only be used to give you an idea, so don't take it as gospel.
Avatar f tn Given your height of 5'4", a body weight of about 146 lb. would give you a BMI of about 25, which would put you at the top of the range of what is generally considered an appropriate weight.
Avatar n tn but yeah it can be different if your short/tall over/under weight pre pregnancy and what not.
Avatar f tn If you google BMI calculator, you will find any number of programs that will let you enter your height and weight, and they give you your BMI. The ideal range for BMI is considered to be 20 to 25, and your BMI is right about in the middle of that range. No need to worry. Just eat healthy foods and get a healthy amount of exercise, and you will stay in the same weight range that you are now. If you grow in height, you will naturally gain weight, but it will be proportional.
Avatar m tn Newer thinking is that the waist/height ratio may be more relevant than BMI at least in terms of ideal body composition. Your height should be twice your weight in inches (or more), at least for men. Don't think this emphasis on belly fat was studied in terms of SVR but it couldn't hurt to lose any excess prior to treatment.
1676558 tn?1305460105 BMI calculator says I should loose more weight than I planned. I'm 5'9, 198 lbs and I want to get to 170. At 170 the online BMI calculator says I will still beconsidered overweight. Not sure I want to loose that much weight. any advice?

Avatar f tn Your midwife or doctor will let you know how much weight is ideal for you to put on during your pregnancy. If you have a normal BMI they say between 11 - 16kg weight gain is fine.. I at 29w and I think I have gained around 10kg so far, but in the beginning weight gain was very slow! At this stage I think your fine :) But remember weight gain is not all you putting on weight.. bub, fluid, placenta all add to it.
Avatar m tn Do you think the risk is still too high even at a BMI in the low 30s? Does the BMI take into account muscle weight vs. fat weight? When considering this type of surgery does fat vs. muscle weight matter? My body type is rather muscular.
Avatar n tn Er yes, I should have mention that the BMI calculator put a "healthy" BMI at about 109-140 lbs. So you don't need too much more to be at a healthier weight. Personally I think 20 BMI is ideal (especially if you're not still growing or thinking about having babies soon) which is calculated at about 117lbs for you- but this is my own opinion. And yeah, anything in a box, wrapper, or Styrofoam container is almost always unhealthy.
Avatar f tn The ideal body weight is based on the person's height and body built. All these take into consideration when finding ones ideal weight.
Avatar n tn High BMI (overweight) is associated with lower treatment outcomes. All else equal, I 'd try and get down to your ideal BMI before treating. Have you been tested for IR (insulin resistance). IR is also associated with lower success rates and often (but not always) goes hand in hand with being overweight. As a geno 1 ("type 1") you have difficult odds anyway. Don't make things even more difficult by not addressing your weigh issue.
Avatar m tn It seems to me that losing weight should have positive effects on suppressing virus replication. Then all hbver should try to lose weight if BMI is not below normal range.
Avatar n tn 110 pounds. Please help. This actually makes me very low self esteem becasue of this and the only way, I feel, that could help this problem is to hit my ideal weight. 10389360 tn?1410823968 That's for ideal doctor weight, seriously I weight 170 and now I'm sure over 175 cause I haven't been back to Dr but that was my weight last appt. When I wasnt pregnant I was 163 and my bmi was considered overweight. According to bmi and weight I should be 140 pounds. I'm sorry but if I was 140 pounds I would look way to skinny and boney. Even the Dr told me that!! So don't go by that.
Avatar m tn Actually you're not. The adequacy of your weight for your height is calculated by your bmi or body mass index. It's basically weight in.kg divided by the square of height in meters. Accordingly you are 23.5 and you're doing ok.Maybe you just need to get fit.
Avatar m tn I was thin my entire life, especially in my teens - I'm 5'6" and I barely weighed 100lbs. I was diagnosed with Uc at 22 but at that time I had a child so I gained a little weight from that. The weight came back off quickly though. I am 41 now and I am at my ideal weight of 135lbs. I started gaining weight about 5 years ago. So it's been a constant battle for me to keep the weight on.
Avatar m tn Are you really saying that all of us that HAVE lost serious weight through proper diet and exercise are wasting our time or are you just not happy with the results of your efforts? I know what the ideal BMI is and I have that as my goal. To say EVERYONE has a predisposed weight they can never alter is either an excuse or just plain backwards thinking.
Business woman2 If you have stopped losing weight, then probably you have reached your ideal body weight and need to maintain that. Hence check your BMI and see. If this is not the case then you need to change the exercises you are doing and also your diet plan. Take more of fiber rich zero calories fruits and vegetables, clear soups, lean cuts of meat, fish, egg whites etc along with smaller portions of carbs and minimal amount of good fat. Take care!
