Avatar n tn I did a BMI calculator online for you and it says that your BMI is 22.5 within a normal range for women. I'd say you're just fine the way you are now, but it's really up to you on how much you want to weigh and look. Great job on losing all that weight by the way!
1676558 tn?1305460105 BMI calculator says I should loose more weight than I planned. I'm 5'9, 198 lbs and I want to get to 170. At 170 the online BMI calculator says I will still beconsidered overweight. Not sure I want to loose that much weight. any advice?
Avatar f tn If you google BMI calculator, you will find any number of programs that will let you enter your height and weight, and they give you your BMI. The ideal range for BMI is considered to be 20 to 25, and your BMI is right about in the middle of that range. No need to worry. Just eat healthy foods and get a healthy amount of exercise, and you will stay in the same weight range that you are now. If you grow in height, you will naturally gain weight, but it will be proportional.
10389360 tn?1410823968 That's for ideal doctor weight, seriously I weight 170 and now I'm sure over 175 cause I haven't been back to Dr but that was my weight last appt. When I wasnt pregnant I was 163 and my bmi was considered overweight. According to bmi and weight I should be 140 pounds. I'm sorry but if I was 140 pounds I would look way to skinny and boney. Even the Dr told me that!! So don't go by that.
Avatar n tn First- has dr's ruled out anything that could be preventing weight gain? These can be things such as malabsorption, parasites, overactive thyroid, etc? The BMI calculator I use says you're just under 18 BMI which is underweight, so definitely you need to gain a little. First thing I suggest is ask your dr to test for thyroid problems, ask specifically for Free t3 and t4 because they're more reliable at showing what the thyroid is actually doing than the standard TSH test.

Avatar f tn First, it should be noted that based on 147 lbs and 5 ft 5 inches tall, your weight and BMI fall within the normal category. Per the calculator, your ideal body weight range is 111.17 to 150.23 and current BMI was calculated at 24.46. From the history you have provided, in my humble opinion, I believe your body may be in starvation mode. This is when your caloric intake is not sufficient to maintain your weight based on the level of energy you are expending.
Avatar n tn Calories are not the major factor in weight gain or loss. Some high calorie foods are great for weight, such as fatty fish. The biggest factor is how you metabolize what you eat into sugar and how well you digest what you eat. I don't think any calorie calculator will help you lose weight, but basically, if you increase the output of energy you will probably lose weight. If you cut down on the amount you eat without eliminating the healthy foods you will probably lose weight. Slowly.
676912 tn?1332812551 I posted a question not that long ago about not gaining weight. I'm starting week 18 today and I still have not gained a single pound. I'm not complaining about it too much since I am a little overweight to begin with, but my concern is the baby...is it ok for her for me to have not gained weight? Is she gaining as she should be even if I haven't gained weight?

567793 tn?1219048662 A particularly useful body mass index calculator is halfway down the page here: http://kidshealth.org/teen/food_fitness/dieting/weight_height.html Ignore the "kids" word on the site -- their calculator halfway down the page is set for people 20 and under. Most of the calculators online assume you're over 20. I agree totally with Red -- weight alone doesn't say much about health or fitness.
