Avatar n tn The ideal weight of any person can be determined only after knowing his/her height. For weight gain and weight loss diet and exercise play an integral role. For gaining weight you should start eating the right type of food. Eat food rich in minerals, vitamins and all other essential nutrients. Stay away from fattening junk food. Try gaining weight in a healthy way. Exercise daily. Consult a nutritionist and get your diet chart made.
Avatar f tn Has your veterinarian examined your new dog yet? They would be best able to assess his weight and determine if he is too thin. A fecal exam for parasites would also be a good idea. The most common nutritional problem in US dogs is obesity, and it is generally a good thing to be able to see a "waist" from above and from the side.
1019636 tn?1298263627 Im pretty sure there is some sort of reference chart used to calculate a persons ideal weight... and im pretty sure its calculated by your age and height...
Avatar n tn I put those words in italics because I personally believe that height/weight charts are laughable and it's no way to actually judge whether or not a person is at a healthy weight. I can guarantee that I will never weight 135 LBs. I certainly do need to lose some weight because I am carrying some unhealthy weight but I am one of those people who will never be thin or "height/weight proportionate".
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Topamax along with an appetite suppressant (Adipex) for weight loss a bit over a year ago and stopped taking them after two and a half months. I did not lose all of the weight I had wanted to, but most of it. I had gained 55 pounds while on Paxil over the course of two and a half years. By taking a combination of the two medicines, I lost 22 pounds the first month, 10 pounds the second month, and 8 pounds the first half of the third month.
Avatar f tn It calculates your body mass index based on your starting weight and height and plots your current weight on a chart which shows what the healthy range is for your body. I find it useful because I don't have to do the math myself. I check it about once every 1 or 2 weeks. It's right on target with what my doctor told me to gain so I trust it. Just keep in mind that your weight gain is not necessarily linear either.
Avatar f tn Before, I did find it hard to loose weight, it just wouldn't come off and now my weight is stable. But I have found that even on a week when I do eat some junk I still stay the same weight. I have fluctuations around my monthly cycle but I think this is normal.
1626068 tn?1303760162 Hi! If you are healthy and is not an athlete, health professionals tend to use the Body Mass Index to assess whether you are at a healthy (desired) weight or not. You can find several online BMI calculators (e.g., but the formula is basically: BMI (kg/m2) = weight (kg) / height^2 (m) (BMI in kilograms per square meter is you weight in kilograms devided by your squared height in meters).
Avatar n tn You need do a chart for you height and weight and find your own target heart rate by your pulse for your age. Depending on the excersise you do (dishes and vacuming can burn calories) you need to burn more calories than you consume to loose weight. There are alot of websites that will chart it for you. example: if you consume 800 calories a day you need to excercise to burn 1000 calories. This pattern will drop weight. Does that make sense.
Avatar n tn Continue your exercise and weights to lose atleast 500 calories per day and alternatively visit a dietician to design a balanced diet for you with lesser calories required for your age and weight and height. Take care!
Avatar n tn For children growth and weight are measured against a growth chart by percentiles. Her weight is very above the 95th percentile and her height is on the 95th percentile for her age. She may be bigger in general due to genetics. Are there tall women in the family? It is recommend increasing children's physical activities (play, dance, sports) to lose weight, and not lower calorie intake due to the need of calories for growth. For her age she needs approximately 1800 calories a day to grow.
Avatar f tn Small Frame Medium Frame Large Frame 5'4" 114-127 124-138 134-151 Be sure that you really need to lose weight. It may be that all you need to do is tone your muscles. For that, yoga is one of the best exercises you can do, plus as ducky says, it helps manage stress.
Avatar n tn I went today for my first week weight check and my second weight loss for my first week is 9.5 pounds!!!! Anyone else using Phentermine and B12? I would love to hear how other people have done on these meds. Good Luck to everyone trying...I want to hear your story!
Avatar n tn I had a friend who was in her 50's and she agained alot of weight and fast . She too could not find the solution untill one dayI think it was her apendex acted up and she had to have it removed. When they went to remove it the doctors were surprised she had a huge sack full of fluid. They removed the equvelant of 2 large jugs of milk from her tomack. It turns out the ultrasound did not pick it up because it was fluid so it did not show.
Avatar n tn I was looking back on my weight loss chart and saw that within 3 weeks of starting lexapro each time, I had a significant weight gain. I went from 175 to 185 the first time and then continued to gain despite following the program and exercising. When I went off the med, the weight began to drop and I made it down below 200. I started it again in February this year and within 3 weeks, here came another 10 pounds and it's been steadilly going up ever since.
Avatar n tn I gained around 35lbs, which is good I was told for my age, previous weight, and height. Most of the people I talked to gained around 80lbs. I am 24 ,used to weigh 115lbs, and I am 5'8". You are doing really good!
Avatar f tn As it stands now I am on weight based dosing of levothyroxine. My dosage is 125mcg which is 80% of what my ideal dosage by weight is. My endocrinologist will run tests in 7 weeks to determine my numbers and upon reading all the great advice on here I insisted on a free t3 and t4 test as well. Well I have been stuck at 185 pounds since the surgery and have not lost any weight although I am barely hungry and go most days with one meal.

Avatar f tn He needs to continue working on lowering his levels. Losing weight helps a lot along with daily exercise and eating a proper diabetic nutrition. An A1c of 7.7% says his daily glucose level is 174 mg/dl, HIGH. Even 7% is high as it equates to 154 mg/dl. Ideal level is <5% = 97 mg/dl. As mentioned in my prior post his numbness and tingling can be associated with nerve damage. If this continues he should see an Endocrinologist [diabetes specialist].
Avatar f tn If you have a large frame, your healthy weight would be higher than if your frame is very small. Here's a portion of a height/weight chart that might be helpful. Height Small Frame Medium Frame Large Frame 5'4" 114-127 124-138 134-151 If you have a small frame, you'd be okay at 120, but underweight at 110; likewise, if you have a medium frame, you would be underweight, even at 120.
1938479 tn?1325709220 If Arnold Schwarzenegger was to use a BMI (weight vs height) chart while bodybuilding, it would have classified him as obese. Another way to look at fat versus muscles is that a cubic inch of muscle will weigh more than a cubic inch of fat. Muscle is about 18 percent more dense than fat. So a better question is am I in shape or do i need to convert more areas of fat to muscle? With that said, here is a weight chart that should only be used to give you an idea, so don't take it as gospel.
Avatar n tn 59 kg is 130 lb. There are many factors, but one chart suggests if you are 5'4" or 5'5", that could be an ideal weight. The charts don't mention that some people have bigger, denser bones, longer or shorter legs by proportion, and more or less muscle. Looking good and being healthy is more about having muscle and having a strong heart and effective lungs. To feel good and turn heads, WORK OUT. Eat lots of vegetables and fruit and lean meat and rarely take sweet drinks.
Avatar m tn 1220-8. Your height is 165 cm, or 5 feet 5 inches. And your weight is 48 kg or 105.8 lbs. Using ideal body weight (IBW) calculations: Males: IBW = 50 kg + 2.3 kg for each inch over 5 feet. Females: IBW = 45.5 kg + 2.3 kg for each inch over 5 feet Your IBW is calculated to be 61.5 kg, so you are currently about 22% below your ideal body weight. In addition, your body mass index (BMI) is 17.6, which is considered underweight.
Avatar n tn Hello, This year my company offered a 'free health screening' to employees, of which I took part. Tests included some basic blood work, blood pressure checks, height/weight measurement, and body composition testing. None of this was particularly new to me, other than the body fat test, which I never had analyzed before. To give just a summary of the relevant results I received (in compressed form): Subject Age: 52 Height: 5'10" Weight: 218 lbs Body Fat Percentage: 36.
