Two completely different compounds. Tylenol, or acetaminophen has been deemed safe during pregnancy, ibuprofen, or Advil has NOT. As for aspirin, that's correct, it's a blood thinner.

just had my 2 year old at the drs for a check following a fever and told him I'd used calprofen ( children's ibuprofen ) initially when trying to bring his temperature down. He hit the roof!!! He said ibuprofen is proven to cause kidney damage and should NOT be made for children at all, he's on quite a mission to ban it. re ok-ed to take ibuprofen or tylenol, you should take those to keep your temp down and yourself more comfortable. For me (never been pregnant), a fever of over 100 while taking ibuprofen or tylenol or a fever that keeps coming back over 3 or 4 days would have me in to see the doctor.

Of course, I am not a doctor, but my husband's hepatologist recommends that my husband take Ibuprofen for fever or pain, rather than Tylenol. I would suggest taking the smallest dosage of Ibuprofen possible and stay under the total limit allowed for a 24 hr period and stop taking it when you don't need it anymore. Drink lots of fluids for your fever and don't bundle up too tightly.

My son is only 2, and I know that his pediatrician along with the nurses on our HealthLink phone line always recommend tylenol when there is a fever. None of them ever say Ibuprofen. I finally asked why, and was told it's just sort of the name they use now for pain/fever relief...like we say Kleenex instead of tissue. But when I asked, they did tell me that Ibuprofen worked just as well.

No ibuprofen. It's a big no no during pregnancy. You can take Tylenol. Also, drink plenty of water. Eucalyptus oil in the shower or diffuser will help clear you up a bit.

Dr said I could take up to 1500 mg a day of either for fever n aches. I only have 1 kidney n somehow have it in my head not to use acetaminophen. I'm using children's Motrin. Any advice here? Karen :) thanks guys..

However, as long as you do not take many, a noncrhirrotic liver will manage to metabolze it. Tylenol is very helpful against fever, ibuprofen is ver helpful against infammation, eg of the ankles. Aspirin and ibuprofen increase the risk of severe bleeding, especially if one has low platelets. you CAN alternate between tylenol and ibuprofen for a bad fever. staggar the doses according to how long they last. for example, if the medicines last 4 hours each, take tylenol at 4pm, ibuprofen at 6pm, then tylenol again at 8. you MUST watch the dosages on the label and how often to take them, I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!. ALSO, you cannot take more than 3000mg of tylenol (also called acetaminophen) in one 24hr period. it's toxic to your liver.

s a better fever reducer than the ibuprofin, anyway. Fever is usually in responce to the interferon shot but should be watched for signs of infection related to low neutrophils.

Not really any difference. Vicoprofen has Ibuprofen with the Hydrocodone. Vicodin has Tylenol. Strength would be the same if they both were the same dose.

Killer headaches, and never any Tylenol around. Ibuprofen can't be that bad huh? Got to go to work and this headache must go.

I think there is a lot of hype about CBD oil without a lot to really back it up. If I had a cold and fever, I'd take ibuprofen. But remember, a fever is our body's natural defense system working. It's usually not dangerous. Our doctor says to make yourself comfortable such as a light blanket if you are chilled and cotton pj's in case the fever breaks and you get the sweats. And simple comfort meds like ibuprofen or Tylenol if you feel it is necessary.

I agree about calling your doctor and letting them know that the antibiotics are not working. HOWEVER, if you feel as if you are getting worse - i.e., real difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing, high fever, shortness of breath,unable to eat or drink, etc., then I would definitely get to an ER - but DO NOT drive yourself! I also do agree about being tested for mono - it's a simple blood test.

Also Tylenol will only bring the Fever down a degree or so it won't break it. Motrin or Advil will being is down a little more so you can always use that instead. Luke warm baths are good too just make sure youre pouring water over the head too.

Well a few days ago I started having flu like symptoms so I look at the paper and it basically says Sudafed for colds and Tylenol for pain or fever, but no Ibuprofen. I start taking the Sudafed for a few days, doesn't really help.. Only for the body aches. Well last night I had a fever of 101.4 so I decided to go to the ER just to be safe. Turns out I don't have the flu, just a really bad viral infection. They ask me what I've been taking and I said Sudafed.

Oh just re-read your question and honestly I don't know. I do know you can take ibuprofen while breastfeeding and you can take tylenol and ibuprofen together. So if you have ibuprofen I'd take that.

Tylenol is the only safe pain medicine u can take while pregnant...I'm not totally for sure what would happen with the ibuprofin, but I wouldn't chance it!! That seems like a lot to take at one time!!?? I was given 800 mg to take after my c-sections!! You must really be suffering with some serious pain hun..talk with ur doc on what is safe for you to take!!

Basically, ask you hepatologist about any medications you are taking, including OTC's. Allergies themselves can cause much headaches because the sinus system in the areas behind the forehead, nose, and eyes are clogged up with fluid. Ask your doc for a safe allergy treatment.
