Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen vs celebrex

ibuprofen

Avatar n tn Has anyone taken an NSIAD(like Ibuprofen or Celebrex) after being treated for GERD or H. Pylori infection? I recently injured my back and a Pain Management specialist said I could possible take Celebrex to help with the inflammation.
Avatar m tn Meloxicam is just a glorified Ibuprofen/Aleve med, so you could always try those OTC. You can take up to 800 mg Ibuprofen every 8 hours or 500mg of Aleve twice a day in it's place. Celebrex is a name brand drug and insurance companies hate those namebrands. lol Your doc can sometimes do a prior authorization, though, to get them to pay for it, which is basically paperwork explaining that you' ve tried other things and this is the only drug that works for you.
Avatar f tn Hi all, recently diagnosed with Achilles tenosynovitis, and treatment of celebrex is not doing the trick. Not using it normally but cannot rest 24/7. Was not given crutches, concerned my weight (I'm about 40 lbs overweight) is hindering my recovery. Still in pain, limping and have some swelling - all docs told me it should be normal in a few days with the celebrex. I'm traveling and cannot afford to be immobile.
Avatar m tn I had lumbar spine fusion six weeks ago and am in PT. Still some pain so am taking 3 Ultracet tabs per 24 hours with pretty good pain relief except following 30 minutes on the treadmill and various muscle building exercises and stretches. To calm down those muscles following exercises and stretches I would like to take one 200mg Celebrex daily but one drug interaction cite suggests "Moderate" drug-drug issue involving CYP450 2D6, which means nothing to me.
418155 tn?1205409893 it is a non-steroidal medication for inflammation and pain...like ibuprofen but is stronger...
374225 tn?1269899262 I have a scheduled spinal injection tomorrow and I blew it by taking ibuprofen over the weekend, this morning in fact. What are the risks if I went ahead and still had the injection? I'm not typically a bleeder...
Avatar n tn Hello, I work for physiatrists, one of which recently diagnosed me with bicipital tendinitis. The only problem is, everything he has recommended does nothing - I have tried ibuprofen 400mg three times daily, ice four times daily, and am now on Celebrex 200mg twice daily (does just increased from one daily yesterday). The only thing that temporarily takes the edge off is ice. Has anyone heard of PRP treatment (platelet rich plasma)? I am trying to find out success rates of this treatment.
531416 tn?1213145679 Hi Kimberly66, Check my post i just putted about Celebrex vs neuropathy cause as i understand you have use Celebrex in the past and its exactly my case and now i'm coping with neuropathy. I'm sure Celebrex is the cause of it. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Naproxen is just ibuprofen, which is Motrin and Aleve. I would think Celebrex would help a lot more than Naproxen. It can't hurt to ask for it. Naproxen didn't do anything for me, except hurt my stomach. The Celebrex helped a lot, right away.
Avatar f tn Tramadol and Ultram have very little if any effect and I have been told my the family doctor that Ibuprofen, Aleve and Celebrex are now unhealthy for my eye condition. Any suggestions as to what can be taken for pain that won't interfere with the current eye treatments?
Avatar m tn m a 28 year old male, and I have a question about NSAIDs for chronic pain. I use ibuprofen daily most of the time for a torn meniscus in my left knee that I had surgery on and I have arthritis too. I also take it for a herniated disc (L-5) and ankle pain. I have acid reflux disease and esophagus problems as well. Is it safe to take all this Ibuprofen with the stomach problems I have, or should I talk to my Dr. about possibly prescribing another medication?
1844403 tn?1319049472 So this is actually our first month of seeing an RE so many of my questions may see simple. I apologize in advance. *I have been having a lot of lower back discomfort. Can I take ibuprofen or should I just wait it out? I am hoping it is my body's way of saying it is trying to ovulate. *My appetite is all kind of weird right now. I know I am not pregnant but was wondering if maybe people feel this way after taking Clomid?
Avatar f tn Hi so I have real bad body pain and health issues that cause it. I have found myself buying pain pills Percocet 5/325 and Vic 10s and take 1 sometimes 2 a day. And have been for a little over a month now. However my Dr is now giving me celebrex and it isn't working and I am scared that I am building up a tolerance to pills. Should I go a week and be miserable and then try the celebrex? My body hurts so bad I can't even move some days and I have 5 kids with the youngest being 2 yrs old.
Avatar f tn Advil is ibuprofen which is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDS) and these have been linked to increased fluid load which can cause an increase in blood pressure. I would imagine the fluid load increase could also cause additional edema in your ankles, but that's just my opinion, I'm not a Doctor. I have a prescription for Celebrex for my knees due to OA and I am hesitant to take it for that reason.
548642 tn?1266179652 my gi didnt even know the dose to celebrex so i doubt he knows if its good to my liver! im telling yall hes stupid and i need to find a new dr asap!
Avatar m tn Has anyone used Celebrex for their Crohn's? I have severe joint point pain and I have been told that Celebrex is a huge help for this. I am wondering about side effects and medicine interactions.
Avatar n tn She is 64 but she also has osteoporosis and arthritis in her lower back. The back doctor just prescribed Celebrex, is this the safest drug for her? Also what should people with Hep C do to better care for their liver eventhough so far she seems to have a healthy liver. For the osteoporosis she is on Fosamax. She has been on it for several years. I am just afraid that too many potent drugs can be harmful for her liver.
Avatar f tn I have been prescibed Celebrex for osteoarthris pain. Can it be taken every day for long term management of arthritis.
Avatar n tn Not really any difference. Vicoprofen has Ibuprofen with the Hydrocodone. Vicodin has Tylenol. Strength would be the same if they both were the same dose.
Avatar n tn Chiropractic treatment can be beneficial, but a good home exercise program can help on a daily basis. Anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen can help, prescription meds such as Celebrex or Relafen can be used as well. If you are under the care of a physician, discuss your treatment options. A web site that may be helpful for you regarding home therapy and dealing with chronic pain can be found here: www.mayoclinic.
Avatar n tn I believe you are probably right....best to ask a pharmacist. My primary doctor originally ordered Celebrex for me knowing that I had Meniere's. I gained 4 lbs. within 5 days of taking it. I haven't tried the narproxen yet, but have read on the internet it also has substantial sodium. For now I will stick with ibuprofen.....it seems to help (some) with swelling and pain, without fluid retention.
Avatar n tn i am to take 2 tramadol twice daily or as needed along with 800 mg ibuprofen twice daily. i have not found any resolve with this medication (i have been on it 2 weeks). i also have not had any typical withdrawl symptoms from stopping the vicodin. i have degeneration of my t3 and t4 vertebre and spinal rotation and of course subluxation. i have had 2 diagnosises and both times the prognosis was long term chronic pain. i have blood work done every 3 mths and it has always been normal.
Avatar dr m tn Before diving into another invasive procedure, I visited a pain management doctor. ONE of the many things we did was try Celebrex. Now I was very skeptical as it had done nothing prior to surgery. But once my spondy was fixed I though - let's try it again. I have to happily report that this NSAID really did work. So much so I was able to lay off the Vicodin and/or Norco as a supplement to "stay ahead of the pain".
973741 tn?1342342773 Is there a down side or risks involved in taking supplements heavy in turmeric for body inflammation? Is it an alternative to ibuprofen or other products that work well but can raise blood pressure?
