ibuprofen

Avatar f tn Two completely different compounds. Tylenol, or acetaminophen has been deemed safe during pregnancy, ibuprofen, or Advil has NOT. As for aspirin, that's correct, it's a blood thinner.
3122657 tn?1357432602 Ibuprofen is bad for our livers. Try getting a massage if you can. Bromelian, a natural supplement made from pineapples helps reduce swelling but it takes time to work. Also, make sure you're drinking lots of water, and getting some exercise. Try some yoga too. Pot brownies worked the best for my back pain.
7758733 tn?1402589420 Acetaminophen is the only thing you can take that won't harm your baby.. it won't thin out your blood. I'd just stick to Tylenol.
Avatar f tn Hi! If you were my patient, I would advise you that headaches are common in early pregnancy. Often they improve as time goes on. You can take acetaminophen as directed. Often the pain may respond to massage or acupuncture. I will let the ladies of the forum chime in with home remedies. IF all else fails, contact your doctor, we often will prescribe Fiorcet for patients who don't respond to Acetaminophen Goog luck!
Avatar m tn Contrary to popular belief, acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol®) is perfectly safe for patients with cirrhosis as long as it is used cautiously. Any person who drinks alcohol regularly should not consume any acetaminophen. For patients with early cirrhosis (CPT class A or B), the use of acetaminophen is safe as long as the recommended dose is not exceeded (1,000 mg per dose, repeated no more often than every 6 hours).
1323278 tn?1298122488 Does anybody suffer from daily headaches/migraines, or weird pressure-like sensation in the head/neck? I had this for about a year when I suffered my first undiagnosed attack about 12 years ago, and I've had it for 10 months already since my optic neuritis in April. What do you do to treat it? It doesn't prevent me from carrying out with my daily life... but God, it's annoying. Really annoying.
Avatar f tn yes, acetaminophen only! no ibuprofen!

Now after 4 month off the treatment I do feel much better but have constant headache, (any suggestions?). Is tylanol the right medicine ? My Dr. says yes but I read acetaminophen is damaging your liver I need to to go back on treatment but do not know when since I might have to give up my career. Have not checked my actual count since August 08 when I stopped the treatment. Might do a biopsy next...
Avatar n tn An arthritis pain medicine may not work for other kind of pain. In general, ibuprofen and acetaminophen are two most common active ingredients in most readily available over-the-counter pain relievers. Neither of them is completely safe. From what I learned, if you have little or no liver damage, you can use either ibuprofen or acetaminophen. But if your liver damage is more advanced, acetaminophen is safer AS LONG AS YOU DON'T OVERDOSE IT OR MIX IT WITH ALCOHOL.
Avatar f tn I am about to be 6wks and I have a headache and I only have ibuprofen I don't have a doc yet so plz help me out.
Avatar f tn I believe the headache is from the medication they had me on last night at the hospital..

1654058 tn?1407159066 Karen, Your platelets are already low, and NSAIDs can increase the risk for bleeding; imho, acetaminophen over the ibuprofen, hands down. With low platelets from tx and a compromised liver and kidney system, any of the NSAIDs are contra-indicated for you (includes Motrin, Advil, Aleve). Tylenol is not to be taken indiscriminately either, though. With cirrhosis, no more than 2000 mg per day max (that means no more than 4 Extra Strength Tylenol in any 24 hour period).
Avatar f tn each acetaminophen tablet or pill typically contains 500 milligrams of acetaminophen.) In fact, acetaminophen is the recommended medication for relieving minor aches, pains, and headaches in people with liver disease. However, when taken in excessive quantities or when combined with alcohol, acetaminophen may cause death due to liver failure.
Avatar f tn Oh, that sounds terrible. I've had headaches off and on my whole life. Things that help me--- high dose ibuprofen. What you get in the hospital for ibuprofen is 800 mg, which is 4 tabs. That's what I take. And then you can take acetaminophen at the same time. I also do stretching of my neck and shoulders, even my jaw area. (like opening and closing jaw and moving it from side to side, etc.). Drop head down on chest and move from side to side holding as you go.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to try drinking two big glasses of water as quickly as possibly for major headaches and stay very hydrated...
Avatar n tn ve become pretty much manageable using ibuprofen or acetaminophen. However, after having sex or bringing myself to orgasm, I without fail wake up the next morning with a migraine headache that does not respond to either of these medications. It lasts for about a day. Is there any medication I can take or method I can apply before or after sex that can prevent or mitigate the headaches?
Avatar n tn For the last 2 months I've experienced severe headache pain on the left side of my head, but ONLY when I move my head (either up/down or side/side). Also, I have experienced an intermittent (several hours a day) roaring/ringing sound in my ears, accompanied with mild dizziness. The headache is 24/7, and not alleviated by ibuprofen or aspirin. Whenever I mildly shake my head, the pain is there. Dull, pressure pain. And then with the ears, it's like a loud, dull roaring sound.
Business man2 mineral tablet (“A to Z” brand), - 1 raspberry keytone (sold by Walgreens), - 2 fish oil soft gels 1200mg (Walgreens brand) , - 2 ibuprofen (200mg each) usually, OR 2 acetaminophen (500mg each), OR 2 naproxen sodium (220mg each), OR 1 Rx meloxicam 15mg. (Pain killer taken for residual pain from knee being “scoped” 1/20/12) What is the doctor’s opinion?
Avatar f tn Around Thanksgiving I got a horrible migraine. It was an 8/10. I tried 6 over the counter medicines, like Dayquil or ibuprofen. It never worked and didn't numb the pain. I went to the ER and they gave me an IV and medicines through that but they also didn't do anything. The doctors there didn't run tests or even say what could be wrong. I then had to take 500mg of Divalproex Sodium twice a day for two weeks.
Avatar m tn over the years, I’ve found that most knowledgeable hepatologist/GI doctors will recommend Tylenol (acetaminophen) over other NSAID’s for minor pain relief. While acetaminophen is certainly hepatotoxic at large does, there is no evidence that it accumulates in the body; taken at recommended doses, it’s generally thought not only to be safe but preferable to NSAIDS.
