Like... they said at 10mg there are very few side-effects and at 20mg there are noticeable side-effects. But, you obviously don't want to change the dose on your own, as this can be extremely dangerous! But, it would be worth talking to your doctor about if the side-effects don't go away fast enough. sorry to hear your hubby is having a hard time. sounds like he is having some of the common side effects. There is nothing that can boost platlets but many docs let them go really low before lowering or stopping the meds. Try and get back on the full strength of interferon ASAP!
Probably the most common side effect is the itching. I have it as well and it is horrible. I have found some relief with a prescription med called Atarax.
The doctor gave me Metronidazole pills to take to treat Trich and should told me i couldnt have any alcohol 3 days before and after takin the pills including the alcohol in mouthwash bc it was cause a bad stomach ache. i was also wondering if this included my toothpaste which has mouthwash beads? Or is regular toothpaste better or not good either?
I have been taking 2-4 ibprogen 200 mg. tablets for 4 months on a daily basis. Does this still fit into the manufacturer's guidelines for this product. I'm concerned about long term side effects.

Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day and use over-the-counter throat lozenges. Salt water gargle is also a good way to relieve a sore throat. In addition, you can take anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and paracetamol (acetaminophen) after consulting your general physician.

Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped.
The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.

Thanks so much for your advice. I don't know exactly which cream he is using, but at this point I suggested that he sees a dermatologist. I believe his penile rash is hives, which is one of the listed, although uncommon, allergic side effects to the Metro Gel. It's been 6 days and no Improvement. I hope he goes to seek more medical advice, I can't imagine the kind of pain and discomfort I've subjected him to. Oddly enough the Metro Gel worked on me with no side effects...
I was prescribed Mupirocin for a non-healing nasal ulcer. I used it for about 2 days then woke up with a bad headache today from the get go. I've tried everything I can. I have taken Tylenol TWICE, Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen in it, nasal spray, a Breathe Right nasal strip (since I do have severe sinus problems.) NOTHING has worked or given any relief.
The treatment that you have been prescribed is correct. If you are having any side effects then get the antibiotics changed and even oral antibiotics can be added.

I am sorry you suffered the side effects. I was on Avonex for 15 years and found that if I started ibuprofen around 4:00 in the afternoon and took it every 4 hours or so, and took the shot around 8 pm on a Friday night, I felt okay by Saturday afternoon. I also put ibuprofen next to my bed in case the side effects woke me up during the night.
