Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen overdose what is

ibuprofen

Avatar n tn You should be just fine unless you have an allergy to ibuprofen. Prescription Motrin is 800mg of Ibuprofen so that is the equivalent of four of the 200mg Ibuprofen. If you don't break out in a rash or have breathing difficulties after taking one or two Ibuprofen, please don't lose sleep over taking a third. As I said, as long as you can take Ibuprofen in the first place without having a problem, three won't bother you.
Avatar m tn According to research institutes, Ibuprofen overdose damages your internal organs like liver. While in some cases it has been reported that it has result in a permanent liver damage, in other cases where the victim was taking the dose for a long and continued period it has resulted in organ failure one by one.

Avatar m tn Can someone give me either the symptoms or the timeline for an Ibuprofen overdose? And what's going to happen if I don't get treatment? I've taken approx. 40 200mg ibuprofen tablets, 32 hours ago.

Avatar f tn Is it safe to take 800mg ibuprofen & 650mg Percocet (each pill 325mg) together at once?
Avatar f tn t worry about what the doctor or anyone else thinks. That is what a doctor is supposed to do help you. It takes time for any drug to clear your system and a large dose of a drug for the kidneys and liver to filter out all the Ibupropin. If you feel down maybe get a referral to a conselor to have someone there. But, it sounds like you have a wonderful friend that saved your life.Let us know what the doc says.
Avatar f tn I over dosed on 300 200 mg Ibuprofen and was taken to the ER last week where i was given charcoal. Ever since i came back home my body has been acting funny and i am having extreme pain (it feels like my right kidney but it seems a little low to be my kidney) and i was wondering if there could have been some internal damage that would not have shown up right after the overdose but a little bit after? Should I be concerned or is this just my body trying to fix it's self?
Avatar m tn Today he received an IV antiobiotic and will get more tomorrow and find out what it is. The say he may have cellulitis. We both believe that his reaction is due to getting a 2nd dose so soon after the first and we hope that he does not have any lasting issues such as an impaired elbow joint, from this.
Avatar m tn This past 2 weeks I was ill with the h1n1 virus. During the 2 weeks, I consumed over 50 200mg pills of ibuprofen. I have had blood work done twice (5 days ago and 2 days ago). Both resulted in increased liver enzymes. I haven't had any ibuprofen in 4 days. Is it possible that my liver enzyme increase is a result of the "overdose" with the ibuprofen. My doctor has scheduled another blood work screening in two weeks. Will my liver enzymes decrease in this amount of time?
Avatar m tn Last night I popped 30 pills of Nurofen Plus over a span of about 30 minutes. (Each contains 200mg of ibuprofen/nurofen/whatever and 12.8mg of codeine.) Then I drank. A lot. I felt extremely high and drunk for quite a long time. Then I passed out. I woke up, of course, feeling like crap. So I slept all day. I tried eating an apple, but I promptly threw the quasi-digested contents back up. I've been drinking a little, but it makes me want to vomit. Which I did, twice.
Avatar n tn Well, an overdose of ibuprofen is usually marked by drowsiness, stomache pains, and trouble breathing. I have never heard of hallucination being a side effect. That being said, when giving our little one's any medication including over the counter, it is extremely important to stick strictly to dosing instructions. I know the bottle I buy of infant tylenol or ibuprofen show recommended doses based on age and weight and of course frequency. Do not ever give more then she should get.
Avatar f tn t do it more than 3 months in a row). Ibuprofen can give you stomach ulcers in overdose, and is bad for your kidneys. I also don't know of any mechanism by which it would stop a period. And too many birth control pills at once can act like a morning after pill, which can cause lots of cramps and bleeding. It's a bad idea to screw around with prescription drugs like that on the advice of the internet (or anyone not a healthcare provider).
Avatar n tn Cymbalta (60 MG), Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen (5-500 MG), Ibuprofen (800 MG), Mobic (15 MG), Oxycodone-Acetaminophen (5-500 MG), Plaquenil (200 MG), Xanax (0.5 MG).
Avatar f tn Hi there, while you have not exceeded the daily dose with that amount, it is more than what you are supposed to take at one time. As we don't know anything else about your medical history, the best thing is to call your doctor today and let them know that you've taken this amount. They will guide you if there is any follow up to be done. So, please call your doctor for assistance.
Avatar f tn Naloxone is a drug used to counter the effects of opioid overdose, for example heroin or morphine overdose. Naloxone is specifically used to counteract life-threatening depression of the central nervous system and respiratory system. Avatar n tn Acetaminophen is metabolized by the liver. Doses of acetaminophen greater than the recommended doses are toxic to the liver and may result in severe liver damage. In other words, perhaps the 'hollow headedness' is due to liver reaction from large dose of acetaminophen. Best wishes!
Avatar f tn Codeine is converted to morphine in the liver (to varying degrees in different cultural populations), so from a practical standpoint there is no difference between an addiction to nurophen vs any other opiate, such as oxycodone or heroin. The ibuprofen is more physically harmful than the codeine (with the exception of overdose, when codeine will kill person through respiratory depression just as will other opiates, particularly if combined with valium-type meds or alcohol).
Avatar n tn Hi, not a doctor but I would take ibuprofen. That is what I take for my back problem, good luck At one point I had such back pain that my doc told me I could take ibuprofen (Motrin) and tylenol.
Avatar n tn Myalgia-merely means MUSCLE PAIN. The 2 times he has been diagnosed with the Myalgia he had been sick with something else and had probably been lying in the bed for a couple of days or had vomiting, diarrhea. The Nimulid doesn't have any association with the myalgia. Generally Myalgia is treated with Ibuprofen as his doctor has ordered. The Ibuprofen not only controls pain but helps with the inflammation as well.
