Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen overdose alcohol

ibuprofen

Avatar m tn According to research institutes, Ibuprofen overdose damages your internal organs like liver. While in some cases it has been reported that it has result in a permanent liver damage, in other cases where the victim was taking the dose for a long and continued period it has resulted in organ failure one by one.
Avatar n tn You should be just fine unless you have an allergy to ibuprofen. Prescription Motrin is 800mg of Ibuprofen so that is the equivalent of four of the 200mg Ibuprofen. If you don't break out in a rash or have breathing difficulties after taking one or two Ibuprofen, please don't lose sleep over taking a third. As I said, as long as you can take Ibuprofen in the first place without having a problem, three won't bother you.
Avatar m tn Can someone give me either the symptoms or the timeline for an Ibuprofen overdose? And what's going to happen if I don't get treatment? I've taken approx. 40 200mg ibuprofen tablets, 32 hours ago.
Avatar f tn Is it safe to take 800mg ibuprofen & 650mg Percocet (each pill 325mg) together at once?
1305767 tn?1361192676 Is it safe to take ibuprofen in the same day as Meloxicam? I take 15 mg of the Meloxicam in the morning for pain but need additional pain relief later in the day and I know that both drugs are NSAID so I don't want to accidentally overdose.
Avatar f tn The ibuprofen is more physically harmful than the codeine (with the exception of overdose, when codeine will kill person through respiratory depression just as will other opiates, particularly if combined with valium-type meds or alcohol). Ibuprofen, in high amounts for years, will cause ulcers and kidney failure. Three years of that much ibuprofen is enough to cause fatal kidney failure in some sensitive people.
Avatar n tn I overdosed two days ago on ibuprofen and still feel off. Should I seek treatment? Would it still help? Would I be a suicide risk?
Avatar n tn Acetaminophen is metabolized by the liver. Doses of acetaminophen greater than the recommended doses are toxic to the liver and may result in severe liver damage. In other words, perhaps the 'hollow headedness' is due to liver reaction from large dose of acetaminophen. Best wishes!
Avatar f tn I over dosed on 300 200 mg Ibuprofen and was taken to the ER last week where i was given charcoal. Ever since i came back home my body has been acting funny and i am having extreme pain (it feels like my right kidney but it seems a little low to be my kidney) and i was wondering if there could have been some internal damage that would not have shown up right after the overdose but a little bit after? Should I be concerned or is this just my body trying to fix it's self?
Avatar f tn Nobody knows. I had an ibuprofen overdose, but it was over a long period of time, and it affected my intestines, mostly my colon, causing colitis. I had frank blood suddenly one day, without any stool at all, and the abdomonal pain was horrible. I had a colonostopy, and was on medication for 2 months to try to heal my colon, it affected 3 ft, and it was almost gangrene. By the time I went to the emergency room, I hadn't eaten in 2 days, and yet the stupid, and I mean STUPID emergency Dr.
Avatar n tn I DO think you have done some pretty bad damage to your liver with the overdose of tylenol and added alcohol intake. Will it kill you today? Unlikely, but it is urgent for you be seen by a doctor, and very soon. If your only option is the ER, so be it. Bring a book and a pillow for the wait.
Avatar f tn I take Ibuprofen as recommended by my hepatologist, but you have to be careful about taking it too often and never take it on an empty stomach. Tylenol didn't work for me either.
Avatar n tn ibuprofen have reported death cases on people with liver diseases, same aspirin, absolutely out of question the safest and most potent pain relever is harpagoside contained in Devil's Claw: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harpagophytum no toxicity at any dose it is a vegetable used regularly for centuries in several countires.
Avatar m tn This past 2 weeks I was ill with the h1n1 virus. During the 2 weeks, I consumed over 50 200mg pills of ibuprofen. I have had blood work done twice (5 days ago and 2 days ago). Both resulted in increased liver enzymes. I haven't had any ibuprofen in 4 days. Is it possible that my liver enzyme increase is a result of the "overdose" with the ibuprofen. My doctor has scheduled another blood work screening in two weeks. Will my liver enzymes decrease in this amount of time?
Avatar m tn His doctor was horrified yesterday (day after shot) and had him take Benadryl, Ibuprofen and apply lots of ice. Today he received an IV antiobiotic and will get more tomorrow and find out what it is. The say he may have cellulitis. We both believe that his reaction is due to getting a 2nd dose so soon after the first and we hope that he does not have any lasting issues such as an impaired elbow joint, from this.
Avatar f tn I have a very bad migraine which I get often and I have hydrocodone prescribed. I went out last night and drank alcohol, though (I had quite a few drinks!). I finished my last drink around 11:30pm last night and it is currently 4:30 pm right now. Is it safe for me to take a vicoprofen (5-7.5mg hydrocodone 200-325 mg ibuprofen) after this event. It has not yet been 24 hours, but I have eaten a substantial meal today as well as 2 snacks and have been drinking water.
3122657 tn?1357432602 Hi all so far 3 months into treatment i was pretty much sailing through it but not by body is hurting my back my legs just everything i ran out of Acetaminophen and want to know if anyone here knows if i can take Ibuprofen for the aches i am undetectable at week 4 no liver damage if someone could help me out with this Thanks Much love Karen
Avatar f tn The Advil had 200 mg of ibuprofen. Later on I got cramps so at around four I took two midol extra strength. Each pill had 500 mg of acetominophen. Then I began getting a massive headache so at 6:45 I took one Tylenol extra strength tablet which also had 500 mg of acetominophen. Now I am worried because I took a little bit too much acetominophen And didn't wait long enough. Also I don't know if the combination of the 200 mg of ibuprofen and the beer could be bad as well?
Avatar m tn If he's just taking hydrocodone, and not mixing with other drugs or alcohol, it would take alot to overdose. Especially if he has a tolerance. I would say its more likely he would need to go to the hospital for APAP toxicity than hydrocodone overdose. APAP (tylenol) is mixed with the hydrocodone and is not good for the liver in high doses. Just tell him not to go crazy and make sure he doesn't mix with alcohol or other drugs (besides weed), and he should remain alive.
Avatar m tn I hope this is a real wake up call for you cuz you are lucky you woke up. We have a fantastic alcohol forum here too. I would really recommend you checking that out along with some sort of aftercare. You say you are a heavy drinker already and you are young. There is a life out here that is fulfilling that doesnt require any type of substance abuse. Please get real honest with yourself, you got real lucky....this time.
Avatar m tn Hello, You need immediate hospital admission. Ibuprofen overdose has effected the GI system causing recurrent vomitings and caused renal ( kidney) impairment thus causing no urination. You need immediate medical intervention urgently. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Cymbalta (60 MG), Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen (5-500 MG), Ibuprofen (800 MG), Mobic (15 MG), Oxycodone-Acetaminophen (5-500 MG), Plaquenil (200 MG), Xanax (0.5 MG).
Avatar f tn My son died from an overdose on Benadryl and alcohol. My friend told me the alcohol shut his liver down. It this possible?
Avatar n tn Well, an overdose of ibuprofen is usually marked by drowsiness, stomache pains, and trouble breathing. I have never heard of hallucination being a side effect. That being said, when giving our little one's any medication including over the counter, it is extremely important to stick strictly to dosing instructions. I know the bottle I buy of infant tylenol or ibuprofen show recommended doses based on age and weight and of course frequency. Do not ever give more then she should get.
Avatar f tn Pot is the only thing u cant overdose and die on out of what u listed(u can overdose on too many of any pill and alcohol can be deadly as well).U stated the family member was taking pain meds too.Yes all those meds and presciption pain killers also topped off with alcohol can cause death.
