ibuprofen

Avatar f tn I would ask your doctor or pharmacist to be 100% sure, because I am NOT a medical professional, just another patient like you, but technically, yes because Ibuprofen and the acetaminophen in the percocet are two totally different meds. I am prescribed both myself if that helps you at all.
Avatar n tn Acetaminophen is metabolized by the liver. Doses of acetaminophen greater than the recommended doses are toxic to the liver and may result in severe liver damage. In other words, perhaps the 'hollow headedness' is due to liver reaction from large dose of acetaminophen. Best wishes!
Avatar n tn Cymbalta (60 MG), Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen (5-500 MG), Ibuprofen (800 MG), Mobic (15 MG), Oxycodone-Acetaminophen (5-500 MG), Plaquenil (200 MG), Xanax (0.5 MG).
Avatar n tn Different people with different kind of pain react differently to various pain killers. An arthritis pain medicine may not work for other kind of pain. In general, ibuprofen and acetaminophen are two most common active ingredients in most readily available over-the-counter pain relievers. Neither of them is completely safe. From what I learned, if you have little or no liver damage, you can use either ibuprofen or acetaminophen.
3122657 tn?1357432602 Hi all so far 3 months into treatment i was pretty much sailing through it but not by body is hurting my back my legs just everything i ran out of Acetaminophen and want to know if anyone here knows if i can take Ibuprofen for the aches i am undetectable at week 4 no liver damage if someone could help me out with this Thanks Much love Karen
Avatar n tn An overdose of acetaminophen can cause serious harm to your liver. The maximum amount of acetaminophen for adults is 1 gram (1000 mg) per dose and 4 grams (4000 mg) per day. One acetaminophen and hydrocodone tablet may contain up to 750 mg of acetaminophen. Know the amount of acetaminophen in the specific product you are taking." All this info should be on the package insert that comes with your meds. Better talk to the doc who is going to treat you first.
Avatar n tn You should be just fine unless you have an allergy to ibuprofen. Prescription Motrin is 800mg of Ibuprofen so that is the equivalent of four of the 200mg Ibuprofen. If you don't break out in a rash or have breathing difficulties after taking one or two Ibuprofen, please don't lose sleep over taking a third. As I said, as long as you can take Ibuprofen in the first place without having a problem, three won't bother you.
Avatar f tn The current maximum recommended daily dosage of Tylenol (Acetaminophen) is 4,000mg (4 grams) in a 24 hour period. Acetaminophen intoxication does lead to liver damage and can be fatal but the liver is a resilient organ and can repair damage to itself if given time.
Avatar n tn S. medical centers. They concluded that acetaminophen overdose was the cause in 275, or 42% of cases. But in 48% of cases, the acetaminophen overdose was unintentional. Most patients (178) survived, although 23 needed liver transplants and 74 (27%) died. Over the six-year study period, the incidence of liver failure caused by acetaminophen overdose grew alarmingly, from 28% to 51%.
Avatar n tn I overdosed on Ibuprofen when I was 14 and never told anyone.. I am now 15 and wondering if im ok or do I need to tell someone.
Avatar f tn 7.5 Vicoden have 750mg acetaminophen per pill......some have 10hydrocodone and 1,000mg acetaminophen. Its easy to do enough to hurt your liver....but i communicate regularly with people from the UK countries that take the 8mg codeine 325 acetaminophen and they take 40+ pills to get the codeine in 4 tylenol #4's......and subsequently are ingesting 10,000- 15,000mg acetaminophen per day. Its not good for you!
1654058 tn?1407159066 Karen, Your platelets are already low, and NSAIDs can increase the risk for bleeding; imho, acetaminophen over the ibuprofen, hands down. With low platelets from tx and a compromised liver and kidney system, any of the NSAIDs are contra-indicated for you (includes Motrin, Advil, Aleve). Tylenol is not to be taken indiscriminately either, though. With cirrhosis, no more than 2000 mg per day max (that means no more than 4 Extra Strength Tylenol in any 24 hour period).
Avatar m tn According to research institutes, Ibuprofen overdose damages your internal organs like liver. While in some cases it has been reported that it has result in a permanent liver damage, in other cases where the victim was taking the dose for a long and continued period it has resulted in organ failure one by one.
Avatar m tn In fact, an overdose of acetaminophen is the most common cause of fulminant hepatic failure as well as the most common cause of drug-induced liver disease in the United States. It is recommended that people with liver disease avoid using all NSAIDs. If NSAIDs are medically required for the treatment of another medical disorder, a reduced dose should be used for a limited period of time and only by people with stable liver disease.
3149845 tn?1506627771 Even though everybody knows that acetaminophen is an effective pain and fever reliever, few realize what the risks are if it is misused. Acetaminophen overdose or misuse can lead to acute liver failure, and sometimes even death. In the vast majority of cases, these serious adverse events are the result of accidental overdose. In an article in the June 2011 issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, lead author, Jennifer King wrote: "(our study) . . .
7758733 tn?1402589420 Killer headaches, and never any Tylenol around. Ibuprofen can't be that bad huh? Got to go to work and this headache must go.
Avatar m tn A lot of times with acetaminophen overdose and liver problems/failure you will have very pale, clay colored stools, and the jaundicing (yellowing) of the skin and eyes. If you take too much Tylenol it can take many days for you to feel the full effects and by then it's too late...your body will shut down 1 system at a time. Did you tell your dr about taking all of that Tylenol?? Please try to take care of yourself. I will say a prayer for you.
1644541 tn?1302992157 you can safely take up to 6000mg of Acetaminophen (Tylenol ) per day. i try to keep it under 2k per day. my HEPA told me it was ok to take it. i also take sudafed for the flu-like symptoms. ask your doctor first. do you have HCV?
5204799 tn?1365456784 Hi Paige Since you have been abusing these meds you have quite a high tolerance so I doubt you will overdose but.......You are taking right at the limit of acetaminophen per day and almost double the limit on the days that you take 20 pills. Long story short, you are damaging your liver and are definitely putting your health at risk. This forum is a great place to come for help, tips and support if you are ready to quit.I hope that you are. I hope this answers your question.
Avatar f tn The maximum recommended dose is 4,000mg in a 24 hour period of acetaminophen. Some ppl do experience damage with a one time high dose of acetaminophen but the percentage is not high. You have likely dodged the bullet. In my opinion the important thing to so when you take that too much acetaminophen in error is to drink lots of water (not over do it). That will help flush it through your kidneys and dilute it as it filters through your kidneys and liver. Contact your physician or pharmacist.
Avatar f tn htm Please do not take acetaminophen overdose lightly. It is one of the most common poisoning noted. The maximum recommended daily dose is 4,000 mg, and you took 10,000 mg. If you take more than the recommended dose, it may lead to liver failure and death if untreated. Please seek medical help if you have not done so already! If you are considering committing suicide, please seek support. Here is link to National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. http://www.suicidepreventionlifeline.
Avatar f tn Two completely different compounds. Tylenol, or acetaminophen has been deemed safe during pregnancy, ibuprofen, or Advil has NOT. As for aspirin, that's correct, it's a blood thinner.
