An over the counter medication is any medication that can be purchased without a prescription "over the counter", but does not make the medication safer and needs to be taken according to the directions on the package and there is a need to be more vigilent and take into consideration individual health, the benefits versus the risks and potential interactions with any prescribed meidcations.

There shouldn't be any chemical reactions taking the two together. The combination will not give the methadone a boost or cause any kind of "high".

I cannot take immetrix I am allergic too it. I now will only take over the counter stuff. I am not sure wether ibuprofen is best or a combination of aspirin and tylenol together. What do you think?

So any medication that you can go in and buy without a prescription is considered an over the counter medication. This would include every single med lined up on the shelves ..... pain killers, cough meds, diarrhea meds, nausea meds, stomach meds, anti-itching meds, everything. If I recall correctly, you have cirrhosis, so you really do have to be careful not to take anything that the doctor does not approve first.

The Vet offered a perscription, but I would like to try something over the counter first. Can I give him aspirin or would it hurt me? Any advise would be appreciated.

I have lots of headaches. I use Alieve but not daily. I discuss over the counter medications with my GP. Over the counter like other medications have benefits and risks and interactions with other medications. They all effective and some people can take some and not others. I for instance can not take tylenol because of drug interactions and my liver. Headaches are very complicated mine run with my asthma. The better I am doing with controlling my asthma the less headaches I have.

My Dr at Kaiser said that the OTC and the ones they prescribe are the same. I didn't argue with her since she has the degree and just bough some from the pharmacy. When ever your next visit is with your OB check with her/him.

But, I would like to know if there is an over the counter medicine. I only get the urgency after a little stress. It stops after 10 hours or so on it's own. But, a cheaper "as needed" OTC medicine would sure be something I am interested in.

, there could be a serious reason why this is happening, i dont mean to scare you, it could be that you are constipated and pushing to much, but if the bowl is filled up, i would call your doctor right away, and this way, they can rule out different causes and hopefully get to the problem, i wouldnt take anything over the counter until i was seen by a doctor, good luck, let us know how you make out.

yes yes, I am clean from Vicoden, Antidepresants but still am using a sleep aid, have been using over the counter meds for sleep since the 80's then went to prescription sleep aid and now I only sleep 3 or 4 hours using them. I am going to go off them soon. My Dr would like to see me wait until Jan just because I came off two meds this year and had surgery's but please don't go to prescription sleep aids I think it is harder to get off them than OCT.

My doctor is the one who prescribed the Naproxin. He is aware of course, that I have high blood pressure. He said controlling the blood pressure is more important than my hands feeling better. He said if I have a stroke, I won't care if my hands hurt. But I think the Naproxin is raising my blood pressure. So if you are staying away from all anti-infammatory medications, what are you doing for your arthritis pain???

t had one in over 3 years) and the back pain got worse. The doctor increased my daily dose of Ibuprofen... The headaches kept coming, I developed arm and leg pain, and all sorts of other issues. I was having problems with speech, balance, memory, and my back still hurts. We do blood work and find nothing... The doctor sends me to the Orthopedist and he does MRIs of my back and finds only minor injury that he says I shouldn't even feel. He sends me to therapy 3 times a week.
