3122657 tn?1357432602 Hi all so far 3 months into treatment i was pretty much sailing through it but not by body is hurting my back my legs just everything i ran out of Acetaminophen and want to know if anyone here knows if i can take Ibuprofen for the aches i am undetectable at week 4 no liver damage if someone could help me out with this Thanks Much love Karen
Avatar f tn The problem with ibuprofen or tylenol is that you can cause liver damage that doesn't manifest immediately. An amount like 10,000 is too much for the liver to absorb at one time, and there can be considerable damage that you don't realize at this time. I think you should go to a physician, relate what you have told us, and get appropriate testing. Also, maybe some therapy.....that's helpful usuallly to everyone. Keep me posted. Good luck and God bless.
1654058 tn?1407159066 Acetaminophen has predictable hepatotoxicity and affects the liver in a dose-dependent manner. In patients with chronic liver disease who have pain symptoms, acetaminophen can be used safely in a dosage of no more than 2 g per day. That’s the equivalent of four extra-strength (500 milligrams) tablets per day or 6 regular strength (325 milligrams) a day.
1323278 tn?1298122488 Acetaminophen far below the toxic dose taken on a daily basis can lead to liver damage. While ibuprofen can upset the stomach, there is a second drug, Cytotec (Misoprostol) that can protect your stomache while taking NSAIDs There are also enteric coated NSAIDs that do not dissolve in the stomach but dissolve in the intestines. We should always let our doctors know all of the medication, including over the counter, herbal supplements, vitamins and other substances (Medical Marijuana?
7758733 tn?1402589420 Killer headaches, and never any Tylenol around. Ibuprofen can't be that bad huh? Got to go to work and this headache must go.
1148241 tn?1294052796 Anything you ingest by mouth is eventually going to go through your liver. From what I've read, ibuprofen isn't as hard on the liver as tylenol (acetomenaphen or paracetamol), but still be careful to take no more than what the label says, and tell your doctor you're taking it. If it works, your doctor may direct you to take more than what's on the label, but again, follow instructions, dosage and timing carefully. Stay away from the "extra strength" formulas.
Avatar f tn t get rid of it, I have last stage Cirrhosis, am going to need a liver transplant before long, this can be taken safely with liver disease and hepatitis.
Avatar m tn Had my blood drawn and the doctor told me that I have a irritated liver and to stop takin ibuprofen and stop drinking alcohol but the thing is that I don't do neither that much I take a ibuprofen pill on average live once a week and a I drunk prolly a total of ten times max this semester (in in school) because I have health anxeity I'm started to freak out and I have ****** insurance so the doc jus told me stop doing them to things and sent me on my way no meds no nothin
Avatar m tn Hi bruising can be a sign that your platelets are low. Are you taking aspirin? Ibuprofen? What makes you think it might be your liver?
Avatar m tn This past 2 weeks I was ill with the h1n1 virus. During the 2 weeks, I consumed over 50 200mg pills of ibuprofen. I have had blood work done twice (5 days ago and 2 days ago). Both resulted in increased liver enzymes. I haven't had any ibuprofen in 4 days. Is it possible that my liver enzyme increase is a result of the "overdose" with the ibuprofen. My doctor has scheduled another blood work screening in two weeks. Will my liver enzymes decrease in this amount of time?
7002065 tn?1443073614 I was told that Ibuprofen was toxic to one's liver and that I could Never take it although, honestly, I miss the Advil more than I miss drinking. Has something changed that now it is acceptable? My doc says acetaminophen only (Tylenol) which does nothing for pain in my view. His reasoning is that Advil is more likely to cause a bleed out.
Avatar f tn No doubt tylenol is hard on the liver, but because my liver enzymes were not elevated my hepatologist said that in small amounts is safe and was effective to help with the flu like symptoms. Also my hepatologist approved me taking ibuprofen for menstrual cramps, again at a lower dose which was spread out to decrease the load on my liver 200mg every 8 hours as needed.
Avatar f tn I'm 15 5'3 and 95lbs. I took about 2900mg or ibuprofen in one dose? What is going to happen. It's not a suicide attempt I just want to sleep.
4507179 tn?1355632892 Being asymptomatic doesn’t mean you don’t have cirrhosis of the liver. It is common for early cirrhotics to have no symptoms. There is why it is many people don’t know they have cirrhosis until major complications appear. Ibuprofen for the last 20 years and drinking can cause liver damage. Having cirrhosis you should never take Ibuprofen. It can lead to kidney failure and internal bleeding. People with cirrhosis should avoid consuming substances that can further damage the liver.
Avatar n tn It truly sounds like the flu....but, I would do as the doctor recommended, and try the ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory, which means it will not only help with discomfort, but it helps reduce any swelling that may be causing discomfort. If you symptoms don't improve, or get worse, you should at least call your physician and let him know. He may want to see you again, and run further tests for a more specific diagnosis. Hope you feel better soon!
Avatar n tn The tram and ibuprofen are much easier on your liver....tramodol is still an addictive narcotic drug - it was developed about the same time as fentanyl and was approached initially as an adjunct for addiction. I never found the tramodol to be effective at all for myself.
Avatar n tn I recently went to a G.I. doctor. I had some liver tests done and my liver enzymes came back "slightly elevated". Back in 2005 my AST & ALT were at 17 * 18. They currently register at 46 & 48 for AST & ALT. I am a 29 yr. old female w/ a number of gastrointestinal problems. I was born without a gall bladder, I have irritable bowel syndrome and I quite possibly over use ibuprofen, taking as much as 800-1600mg/ day. Are these levels high?
Avatar n tn My doc told me Ibuprofen only but my liver is a stage 0 which means little to no damage.
Avatar n tn What is the cause of your liver pain? Are you sure the pain is your liver, or could it be gallbladder? Do you have Hepatitis C? Have you seen a physician about your pain? If you would give us a little information about yourself and your condition, someone here might have some information to share with you. However, there are no doctors here, we are just people who have or have had Hepatitis C and / or family members of people with Hep C. There are lots of knowledgeable people here.
543518 tn?1245322027 However, as long as you do not take many, a noncrhirrotic liver will manage to metabolze it. Tylenol is very helpful against fever, ibuprofen is ver helpful against infammation, eg of the ankles. Aspirin and ibuprofen increase the risk of severe bleeding, especially if one has low platelets. All these substances should be taken with care. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cKzJOmVhjs Fore migraine there are much better specialised drugs, the triptanes. Migraine is not simple headache.
Avatar m tn Hi last monday I had a toothache and took quite a few painkillers (ibuprofen mainly) and ever since I have been pooping blood, and last night I had what seemed to be a panic attack (unable to speak, rapid heartbeat, struggling to breathe) and now this afternoon my right eye bag has swollen and hurts every time I blink or close my eyes. Could all these thing be linked or are they separate matters? And should I consult medical advice or see if it all calms down?
