ibuprofen

1326572 tn?1275500911 I have early RA, just got the latest blood work back. My liver and blood count look great but my doc said my kidney function is slightly off. The creatinine is high at 1.09 and the GFR is low at 54. I was occasionally taking ibuprofen but have stopped completely now. I'm also on mtx, folic acid, norco for pain and also xanax. The doc said she wasn't too worried but she wants to watch it. I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same sort of thing.
Avatar n tn s body is unique and reacts differently to toxins. I would be concerned with kidney function in addition to liver function and, yes, kidney damage can be permanent. Chances are you're just fine but for your peace of mind get an appt with your doctor and ask to have lab work to measure your kidney and liver function. Usually, staying well hydrated and eating properly will keep your organs in good condition. Good luck!

Avatar m tn According to research institutes, Ibuprofen overdose damages your internal organs like liver. While in some cases it has been reported that it has result in a permanent liver damage, in other cases where the victim was taking the dose for a long and continued period it has resulted in organ failure one by one.
Avatar f tn Most of us are told by our hepatologists not to use ibuprofen because it can be hard on the liver, and Tylenol is recommended over aspirin for pain control. It sounds like your case might be different in terms of needing the aspirin, but I would be kind of worried about taking ibuprofen too.
Avatar m tn Your liver function has not been altered by your liver disease yet. If you become stage 4 (cirrhosis) then you will have to modify what drugs you can take because the liver is no longer able to process drugs in a normal manner. Tramadol is an synthetic opiate and should not be taken for "mild" pain. If you are close to or stage 4, Tylenol is the drug of choice for cirrhotics as long as you limit dosing to 2 grams per day and and don't mix it with alcohol.
Avatar f tn d probably pursue the liver function angle if I were you. Any NSAID can disrupt liver function. Before my hypo diagnosis, I was on Celebrex (another NSAID) for chronic back pain, and was taken off of it after a liver function test. You could possibly also have a pituitary or hypothalamus issue, but given the ibuprofen and the ease of testing liver function, I'd probably explore that first.
7758733 tn?1402589420 Killer headaches, and never any Tylenol around. Ibuprofen can't be that bad huh? Got to go to work and this headache must go.
Avatar m tn If you can, I would recommend seeing your doctor and having lab tests done, a simple blood test can test your kidney, liver function. I would also recommend maybe drinking more water if you don't already to cleanse your system. Good luck!
Avatar n tn If you are taking the aspirin under the direction of a doctor he should check your liver function at least once a year. You might run your concerns past a doctor anyway.
Avatar f tn I had an aunt who died from liver cancer and her liver function tests were normal until the end stages. However, it is common to have cysts in the liver and fatty areas that aren't a problem. When I was dx they found a hemangioma in my liver and another cyst and there were two cysts in my kidneys. Before my surgery, I thought this must indicate cancer had spread there only to find out that most of us do have some sort of cyst congenitally or as we age. My dr.
678069 tn?1254422777 Well, not only did my latest bloodwork show all my blood counts are good, but my liver function is now NORMAL!! Are you kidding me?? Its been a long time since that was the case. I couldnt believe it when my Dr said it. I could definitely get used to hearing that! Add to all that the fact that my side effects are minimal. The only thing I deal with on a regular basis is mild fevers. But Advil usually takes care of it.
Avatar n tn My GGT on my Liver Function Test is very high. I am taking Phentoins for epilsepy and wonder if this is the cause.

Avatar m tn In Total liver Function Laboratory Blood Test results (Alanine Amino Transferase Serum) conducted for Total Liver Function shows presence of low ALT or low SGPT levels of 14 . This result is quite below the range limits specified in the lab. test report which is between 17-63 .. Please intimate what will happen if it further reduces in the ALT levels and how to increase the ALT levels or how to come out from this problem . * Is it relates to early death of a person ?.
Business man3 What supplements or other over the counter meds would you suggest to help improve my liver function? Also i think you should know i have had this disease for only two years now. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Because it is asprin and asprin thins the blood and makes it harder for ur blood to clot! U could bleed out when in labor! Ibuprofen is on the can take side! I see a lot of post on here saying yes take tylenol ur doctors say its ok up to 1000mg. This is my 4th baby and every time my doctors have said no tylenol! Is my doctor wrong? Or is it a preference thing between doctors?
Avatar f tn Studies have demonstrated that at certain dosages, ibuprofen can stress the liver and elevate liver enzymes in people with Hepatitis C. Ibuprofen must be used with extreme caution in the later stages of liver disease and for those on interferon therapy. 3. Aspirin – (Bayer, Anacin, Excedrin and others) reduces fever, relieves pain, and acts as an anti-inflammatory and blood thinner.
Avatar m tn My liver enzymes were recently checked by my endocrinologist and found to be high, too. I, too, have been fighting fatigue for the past couple of years. I've also had strange neurological issues. The liver enzymes being elevated is new for me, though. My numbers aren't as high as yours--mine are 165 (ALT) and 109 (AST). Your doctor needs to rule out things like HIV and hepatitis. In addition to all those tests, you might also ask about getting tested for Lupus, too.
1148241 tn?1294052796 Anything you ingest by mouth is eventually going to go through your liver. From what I've read, ibuprofen isn't as hard on the liver as tylenol (acetomenaphen or paracetamol), but still be careful to take no more than what the label says, and tell your doctor you're taking it. If it works, your doctor may direct you to take more than what's on the label, but again, follow instructions, dosage and timing carefully. Stay away from the "extra strength" formulas.
Avatar f tn The problem with ibuprofen or tylenol is that you can cause liver damage that doesn't manifest immediately. An amount like 10,000 is too much for the liver to absorb at one time, and there can be considerable damage that you don't realize at this time. I think you should go to a physician, relate what you have told us, and get appropriate testing. Also, maybe some therapy.....that's helpful usuallly to everyone. Keep me posted. Good luck and God bless.
1159193 tn?1265479257 Day 11 now, phoned doctor and told him what was going on, I told him went through withdrawal, Have to go to get liver test in months time. I know I have an ulcer I can feel it. I cant take ibuprofen any more cos of it. What if it doesn't heel. What can I do t help the liver...............before the test and after.
Avatar f tn last month i had a routine blood check and was told my AST level was 192 and my ALT was 357, the Dr. informed me my liver was damaged and suggested a second test for hepatic function along with hepatitis A, B and C blood testing. the results indicated AST had gone down to 50 and ALT down to 60, but hepatitis C antibodies were present.
Avatar f tn t get rid of it, I have last stage Cirrhosis, am going to need a liver transplant before long, this can be taken safely with liver disease and hepatitis.
