Avatar m tn I started to be obsessive about low platelet count. I saw in some scientific papers that low platelet count (like less than 150-160) is a sign of cirrhosis or early cirrhosis. My platelet count history is as follows: October 29, 2012: 193 (there was hemolysis in this test and hence may not be accurate!

Avatar m tn According to research institutes, Ibuprofen overdose damages your internal organs like liver. While in some cases it has been reported that it has result in a permanent liver damage, in other cases where the victim was taking the dose for a long and continued period it has resulted in organ failure one by one.
Avatar f tn Sadly my Platelet count is ..........drum roll.....55 I have the infrequent bruising and little red dots from it. My doc said sometimes the platelets are shaped crooked so the test doesn't pick them up. I can tell you I think a lot about my platelets these days and wondering if and when they'll go up. Damned disease left me with all this damage. At one time a couple years back I was 145. I think that's in range on my labs.
543518 tn?1245322027 However, as long as you do not take many, a noncrhirrotic liver will manage to metabolze it. Tylenol is very helpful against fever, ibuprofen is ver helpful against infammation, eg of the ankles. Aspirin and ibuprofen increase the risk of severe bleeding, especially if one has low platelets. All these substances should be taken with care. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cKzJOmVhjs Fore migraine there are much better specialised drugs, the triptanes. Migraine is not simple headache.
1326572 tn?1275500911 I have early RA, just got the latest blood work back. My liver and blood count look great but my doc said my kidney function is slightly off. The creatinine is high at 1.09 and the GFR is low at 54. I was occasionally taking ibuprofen but have stopped completely now. I'm also on mtx, folic acid, norco for pain and also xanax. The doc said she wasn't too worried but she wants to watch it. I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same sort of thing.
7758733 tn?1402589420 Killer headaches, and never any Tylenol around. Ibuprofen can't be that bad huh? Got to go to work and this headache must go.
Avatar m tn my platelet count was 90 in Jan 2014 when I was diagnosed with Hep C and cirrhosis, and now after SVR it is lower; 59 two months ago, and my spleen is still enlarged. I'm monitored every 6 months with MRI and have bloodwork every 3 months. I follow a healthy lifestyle, eat organic, excercise, and hope for improvement. Hope that helps.
1148241 tn?1294052796 Anything you ingest by mouth is eventually going to go through your liver. From what I've read, ibuprofen isn't as hard on the liver as tylenol (acetomenaphen or paracetamol), but still be careful to take no more than what the label says, and tell your doctor you're taking it. If it works, your doctor may direct you to take more than what's on the label, but again, follow instructions, dosage and timing carefully. Stay away from the "extra strength" formulas.
Avatar n tn What is the cause of your liver pain? Are you sure the pain is your liver, or could it be gallbladder? Do you have Hepatitis C? Have you seen a physician about your pain? If you would give us a little information about yourself and your condition, someone here might have some information to share with you. However, there are no doctors here, we are just people who have or have had Hepatitis C and / or family members of people with Hep C. There are lots of knowledgeable people here.
Avatar f tn The problem with ibuprofen or tylenol is that you can cause liver damage that doesn't manifest immediately. An amount like 10,000 is too much for the liver to absorb at one time, and there can be considerable damage that you don't realize at this time. I think you should go to a physician, relate what you have told us, and get appropriate testing. Also, maybe some therapy.....that's helpful usuallly to everyone. Keep me posted. Good luck and God bless.
Avatar f tn t get rid of it, I have last stage Cirrhosis, am going to need a liver transplant before long, this can be taken safely with liver disease and hepatitis.
Avatar m tn m not aware of any liver friendly pain or sleep remedies. Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen, Naproxyn, etc., all tend to have negative effects on the liver. I hope this helps.
1323278 tn?1298122488 Acetaminophen far below the toxic dose taken on a daily basis can lead to liver damage. While ibuprofen can upset the stomach, there is a second drug, Cytotec (Misoprostol) that can protect your stomache while taking NSAIDs There are also enteric coated NSAIDs that do not dissolve in the stomach but dissolve in the intestines. We should always let our doctors know all of the medication, including over the counter, herbal supplements, vitamins and other substances (Medical Marijuana?
Avatar f tn has anyone had high level in liver count . the doc said if it comes back high it coyld be risky to go full term am only 14 weeks but they would try monertor me to a safe stage .
Avatar m tn my liver count is 130, the dr told me not to drink for 3 months. what i want to know is how bad is it as i livein spain and do not totally understand the language. the liver count is .47 u/l and i've just worked it out as being double the normal.
1654058 tn?1407159066 Karen, Your platelets are already low, and NSAIDs can increase the risk for bleeding; imho, acetaminophen over the ibuprofen, hands down. With low platelets from tx and a compromised liver and kidney system, any of the NSAIDs are contra-indicated for you (includes Motrin, Advil, Aleve). Tylenol is not to be taken indiscriminately either, though. With cirrhosis, no more than 2000 mg per day max (that means no more than 4 Extra Strength Tylenol in any 24 hour period).
Avatar n tn The blood specialist told me that aspirin paralyzes the platelets for a week, while ibuprofen paralyses for a few days. People with liver damage are told not to take either one. If you take it you could stop and see if that will help you. When I treated I was told I could take tylenol but not over 2,000 a day. Another thing that might help you get more responses is if you were to give more information. Like what is your geno type, there is new treatment coming out in the next year.
Avatar f tn Most of us are told by our hepatologists not to use ibuprofen because it can be hard on the liver, and Tylenol is recommended over aspirin for pain control. It sounds like your case might be different in terms of needing the aspirin, but I would be kind of worried about taking ibuprofen too.
Avatar f tn After the scan, he found out that I had a bone bruise on the upper section of my tibia (tibial head?). He did not perform a blood test/count. He advised me to use crutches for 3 more weeks. He also prescribed the following medicines. - Lovenox 40mg injection - once a day for 10 days - Ibuprofen 600mg forte - twice a day for 5 days - Pantroprazol 40mg - once a day for 5 days My questions: 1. Doctor said he prescribed Ibuprofen to prevent inflamation.
Avatar m tn This past 2 weeks I was ill with the h1n1 virus. During the 2 weeks, I consumed over 50 200mg pills of ibuprofen. I have had blood work done twice (5 days ago and 2 days ago). Both resulted in increased liver enzymes. I haven't had any ibuprofen in 4 days. Is it possible that my liver enzyme increase is a result of the "overdose" with the ibuprofen. My doctor has scheduled another blood work screening in two weeks. Will my liver enzymes decrease in this amount of time?
Avatar f tn I'm 15 5'3 and 95lbs. I took about 2900mg or ibuprofen in one dose? What is going to happen. It's not a suicide attempt I just want to sleep.
Avatar n tn The degree of liver damage is usually the determining factor. When you say your liver biopsy was in good shape, do you mean minimal damage? Of course, "0" means no liver damage. Stage 1 means minimal damage (fibrosis) , Stage 2 moderate and Stage 3 advanced. Stage 4 cirhossis. Those with mininimal to moderate damage have time to wait because this disease usually, but not always, takes a long time to advance.
