ibuprofen

Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
3122657 tn?1357432602 Hi all so far 3 months into treatment i was pretty much sailing through it but not by body is hurting my back my legs just everything i ran out of Acetaminophen and want to know if anyone here knows if i can take Ibuprofen for the aches i am undetectable at week 4 no liver damage if someone could help me out with this Thanks Much love Karen
1386405 tn?1291587800 The biggest effect of Ibuprofen is in the last trimester. It affects the kidney/urine output of the fetus, which results in lower amniotic fluid levels. It can also thin your blood, which can increase the risk of heavy bleeding during delivery and after. Your OB will tell you the same thing. Everything will be ok, and now you know, and you won't take it again. Good luck with the pregnancy!
1654058 tn?1407159066 Dr said I could take up to 1500 mg a day of either for fever n aches. I only have 1 kidney n somehow have it in my head not to use acetaminophen. I'm using children's Motrin. Any advice here? Karen :) thanks guys..
Avatar m tn people over 55 years of age, people who suffer from dehydration, kidney disease, acute colitis, or delayed bowel emptying, and, people taking certain medicines that affect kidney function, such as diuretics (fluid pills), angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (medications that lower blood pressure), angiotensin receptor blockers (used to treat high blood pressure, heart or kidney failure), and possibly nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (similar to ibuprofen and other arthritis medication
Avatar f tn My brother told me that his doctor said his kidney was not functioning as well as it should for someone his age. He also has a touch of scoliosis. Some of his organs are compresses because of the curvature. The doctor wants to do some test. What does this Mean? Is there something that can be done? I am really concerned. Thank you all.
Avatar n tn My cousin had this and it was cancer. He better see a doctor as soon as possible.
Avatar m tn I have been taking maximum daily dosage of generic ibuprofen (3200 mg a day, usually 1600mg at a time). I also take 600mg etodolac, 400 in the am and 200 in the pm. I have been having kidney pain on both sides, and excessive sweating. Could this be from taking too much NSAID medication?
Avatar f tn ve heard a couple of doctors (not diabetes specialists) say that diabetics should never take ibuprofen because of potential damage to the kidneys, which, coupled with the potential damage from the diabetes itself, could significantly increase the possibility of kidney failure. I would be very interested to hear what diabetes specialists have to say on this because prior to this many doctors (fully aware of the type 1 diabetes) recommended daily ibuprofen for various problems such as back pain.
Avatar n tn they must not take aspirin or nonsteroidal inti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) at any time due to the risk of kidney damage. Common NSAIDS to avoid are Motrin, Ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, and Naprosyn. Any cold medication or decongestants containing pseudoephedrine or other decongestants should be avoided unless your doctor has given permission. Tylenol for headache or pain - not for fever - can be taken not to exceed 1800mg in 24 hrs. Consult with your surgeons office for additional screens.
963889 tn?1359677334 My girlfriend had an open biopsy on her kidneys and it showed ibuprofen caused the damage. Her doctor in Florida did some research on Ibuprofen and then did a report for the AMA. Ibruprofen (advil and etc) is the number one cause of kidney failure of over the counter products in the Nation.
168348 tn?1379357075 Hi, I ask this question because both a member on the Arthritis Community, and myself have seen a corelation between taking NSAID for arthritis and depletion of Vit D ... is this just coincidence or is there a possible connection?
Business man2 I try to have my patients take very little daily ibuprofen/naproxen as they can lead to kidney disease (based on total lifetime dose), high blood pressure (meloxicam) and stomach ulcers. Also, the anti-platelet effect of aspirin (which is how it prevents heart attacks) is reduced when taken with daily ibuprofen/naproxen. I hope this helps!
Avatar m tn t do anything but stall, we took him to an outside dr where they found the cancer. The odd thing is that I had renal cell cancer in my right kidney 5 yrs ago and had my r kidney removed also. #1 Impression said that the skeletal metastitic disease to right frontal bone, does that mean it is also in his head? At least that is the way I am reading it. Thank you so much for your reply.
1326572 tn?1275500911 My liver and blood count look great but my doc said my kidney function is slightly off. The creatinine is high at 1.09 and the GFR is low at 54. I was occasionally taking ibuprofen but have stopped completely now. I'm also on mtx, folic acid, norco for pain and also xanax. The doc said she wasn't too worried but she wants to watch it. I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same sort of thing.
535822 tn?1443976780 First of all I have kidney stones ever present inside my kidney. They don't usually cause problems. About 3-4 weeks ago, I started having symptoms resembling a stomach bug (diarrhea) and fatigue for a couple of days, then started having flank pain. Went to urgen care and they gave me 3 days worth of cipro. She said I had a "few" white blood cells in my urine, but that was all. She also ordered a CT scan.
Avatar n tn and recommended immediate surgery to remove the kidney. My step-father and my mother have serious qualms about surgery to remove a kidney without even knowing for certain if it is cancerous. What questions should they be asking?
Avatar f tn state, I would not recommend taking more than the maximum recommended daily dose of ibuprofen. Also, if your kidney function is temporarily (or permanently) decreased due to your kidney stone(s), then any medication that you take can be more potent or toxic to you and the organs that metabolize the medication. It is possible that you could speak with your personal physician regarding a "better" strategy for managing your pain. ~•~ Dr.
Avatar f tn Agreed... you should have a Urologist test your kidney-function. High creatinine is generally a good indicator of poor kidney-function, or at the very least, reduced kidney-function. Good luck to you.
729288 tn?1251254433 I take my shots on tuesdays so its almost time for another one. Ive been eating ibuprofen and it doesnt bring it down to much. I feel horrible I look white as a ghost. My back hurts, tummy, hips, thighs and head. Im going to call doc first thing in the morning but wanted to know if anyone had suggestions to bring down my fever.
Avatar n tn I also have high blood pressure and take Ibuprofen (which is like meloxicam as its an NSAID), I was told to drink MORE water so that the Ibuprofen doesn't make the blood pressure worse. Its some sort of chemical thing, a pharmacist told me once. Ever since then, my blood pressure has been so much better. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn Has anyone noticed any difference in blood sugar numbers while regularly taking Ibuprofen, or other NSAIDS? I've had some health anxiety, and stopped taking ibuprofen in fear of kidney issues. But I notice my post dinner readings have been worse. I was only taking about 600mg before bed daily. Would that still effect blood sugar by dinner time the next day? Glad I'm off the pills. Just scared will affect BS control.
