ibuprofen

1386405 tn?1291587800 I also took a bunch of Advil before I knew i was pregnant, for a high fever. I was worried about the Advil AND the fever, and baby was fine with both. The biggest effect of Ibuprofen is in the last trimester. It affects the kidney/urine output of the fetus, which results in lower amniotic fluid levels. It can also thin your blood, which can increase the risk of heavy bleeding during delivery and after. Your OB will tell you the same thing.
Avatar f tn re ok-ed to take ibuprofen or tylenol, you should take those to keep your temp down and yourself more comfortable. For me (never been pregnant), a fever of over 100 while taking ibuprofen or tylenol or a fever that keeps coming back over 3 or 4 days would have me in to see the doctor.
7721203 tn?1468443229 If you have a fever go and see your Dr or midwife as that isn't good for the baby either, especially during first trimester as that is the most dangerous time for baby. And don't take the ibuprofen it has been linked to low birth weight and miscarriage.
535822 tn?1443976780 After about a week, I started feeling better and was able to return to school and work. A couple of days later my fever started spiking up to 102.8. I took ibuprofen and the fever broke that night. I went to the beach the next day and seemed ok, but the fever again spiked that night back to 102.8. It did this over the weekend so I went back to urgent care on Monday. That doctor said the same thing about my urine and put me back on cipro for 5 days.
Avatar f tn Nope. Ibuprofen firstly won't help with a cold at all. It only relieves fever, pain, and swelling. Second, ibuprofen shouldn't be used in pregnancy and on the rare occasion that your Dr gives the okay, it is NEVER to be used in the 3rd trimester.
Avatar n tn Since yesterday I am running high fever 103-104f which does not come down without cold sponging, and is not responding to paracetamol/ibuprofen. I got blood work done for CBC/ESR, LFT, malarial parasite, typhoid/widal etc. All normal/negative. Could this be ARS? I also have a horrible headache and my appetite has fallen to shockingly low levels. I am barely able to eat 1/5th of what I usually eat.
1654058 tn?1407159066 Dr said I could take up to 1500 mg a day of either for fever n aches. I only have 1 kidney n somehow have it in my head not to use acetaminophen. I'm using children's Motrin. Any advice here? Karen :) thanks guys..
163305 tn?1333668571 My son is only 2, and I know that his pediatrician along with the nurses on our HealthLink phone line always recommend tylenol when there is a fever. None of them ever say Ibuprofen. I finally asked why, and was told it's just sort of the name they use now for pain/fever relief...like we say Kleenex instead of tissue. But when I asked, they did tell me that Ibuprofen worked just as well.
Avatar f tn You need to see a doctor. Leaving in a tampon for too long can cause toxic shock syndrome (TSS). If you got a fever, you need to get checked out. I know the fever is down right now, but since you're in pain, you need urgent care or the ER. Keep up with tylenol, aspirin, or ibuprofen to keep the fever in check.
Avatar n tn I just turned fourteen on may 6, and for the past week since then I have had a fever at around 101. The fourth day they took blood and tested it for anything wrong, they found nothing. My body after the seventh day now aches on the sides of my neck and my arms. I have had a runny nose since the first day. Whenever I wake up my mom gives me a motrin and my fever still stays at around 100 or 99 but I feel fine... then at around 8 I completely crash. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with me?
543518 tn?1245322027 The NP told me to mix up the acetaminaphen and ibuprofen (not together) for different days when I need something for fever, aches, etc. But what about asprin? What impact does that have on the hep c/liver, etc.?? I'm doing my best not to take anything, however...it is very difficult when one is uncomfortable. Third shot is on Tuesday.
Avatar n tn I agree about calling your doctor and letting them know that the antibiotics are not working. HOWEVER, if you feel as if you are getting worse - i.e., real difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing, high fever, shortness of breath, unable to eat or drink, etc., then I would definitely get to an ER - but DO NOT drive yourself! I also do agree about being tested for mono - it's a simple blood test.
Avatar n tn Hey I usually do intense workouts(Circuit training: high rep weight-lifting with very short breaks, and moderate weights for about an hour, and during evening I do sprints) 5 times a week (I workout two days in a row, a then take a third day off). Okay, So I didn't workout two days in a row, and on the second day I got a fever (around 100). I took ibuprofen, and it didn't do anything (I still felt like ****).
Avatar f tn I totally agree with specialmom. I have 3 kids and never had a high fever from teething (low fever, yes). I would think this is a sign of viral or other infection. I usually use acetaminophen for fever if that doesn't bring it down then I will alternated it with ibuprofen following the does age amounts and timing recommended.
Avatar m tn I have had fever for the last three months - have had a regiment of amoxicillin, blood work and everything is normal. Only when my temp is taking by ear it reveals fever. Tylenol and ibuprofen was helping, however it is no longer helping.
Avatar m tn I came to know that Brufen syrup (ibuprofen) is dangerous for Hep C patients. I am resident of Pakistan.
2059782 tn?1342033162 you CAN alternate between tylenol and ibuprofen for a bad fever. staggar the doses according to how long they last. for example, if the medicines last 4 hours each, take tylenol at 4pm, ibuprofen at 6pm, then tylenol again at 8. you MUST watch the dosages on the label and how often to take them, I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!. ALSO, you cannot take more than 3000mg of tylenol (also called acetaminophen) in one 24hr period. it's toxic to your liver.
Avatar n tn s a better fever reducer than the ibuprofin, anyway. Fever is usually in responce to the interferon shot but should be watched for signs of infection related to low neutrophils.
729288 tn?1251254433 My nurse said that ibuprofen (advil) doesn't work for fevers and I should take acetaminophen (tylenol). I discovered she was right!
973741 tn?1342342773 The alternative drug would be good old aspirin, which everyone seems to have forgotten about because regular use at levels high enough for it to work for fever and inflammation can tear apart the stomach lining and cause ulcers, but so can ibuprofen and naproxen. All of them can so throw off your digestive tract that even when you stop taking them you might have problems chronically, as happened to me recently after bouts on ibuprofen for a hip problem and then a tooth problem.
Avatar m tn For the pain and fever you can take over the counter pain relief medication and Ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is not suitable for everyone, and you would have to take it with or after food. If you do use the pain relief medications and Ibuprofen, then stagger the times when you take these. Drink plenty of water and fruit juices so as not to get dehydrated. Once you are well and your body has built up an immunity to the virus, it stays in your system. Hope you get better soon.
Avatar m tn I having been having fever/nauseous/severe headaches for the past 6 days. I had ibuprofen 400 for the past 3 days and i am still having the conditions above. I have never been so sick before Please reply!!
Avatar f tn As for the Ibuprofen, it probably gets your fever down then it comes back when you go off of it. But it shouldn't be gone for a whole day and then come back. So that is why I wonder what you have been doing and where you live. Any recent travel?
Avatar m tn Take a warm water bath as this helps bring down the fever. Sip plenty of fluids. Take a OTC decongestant for cough. If fever does not break in another day, consult your PCP. Yes, flu can affect the baby too. Though not dangerous, a more careful monitoring is required in babies. Wash your hands and face well before handling the baby. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor. Take care!
Avatar f tn Well a few days ago I started having flu like symptoms so I look at the paper and it basically says Sudafed for colds and Tylenol for pain or fever, but no Ibuprofen. I start taking the Sudafed for a few days, doesn't really help.. Only for the body aches. Well last night I had a fever of 101.4 so I decided to go to the ER just to be safe. Turns out I don't have the flu, just a really bad viral infection. They ask me what I've been taking and I said Sudafed.
250701 tn?1320974765 If it's any comfort, our doctor has called over the weekend to check in a few times, it's when he has a chance to catch up. Saturday might have been your doctor's time for reviewing test results. Please don't assume the worst. How long have you had the fever?
Avatar m tn It should still respond like a regular fever to tylenol or ibuprofen. Drink plenty of fluids, check for hydration. Most of the time, this goes away as a child ages and by age 5. NOT sure if this is what is going on but sounds familiar.
Avatar n tn I am taking plavix and 325mg asprin once a day and was taking ibuprofen(800 mg) to combat the fever. However, it keeps coming back when I stop the ibuprofen. This does not sound normal to me. I feel like I have had the flu for a month. Is this possibly life threatening? What do I do next? I feel horrible. I am a 61 year old male with no previous heart problems. I am very weak and have lost about 12 lbs since stent on June 6th. This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.
