ibuprofen

Avatar n tn When i first got my period it hurt but not that much until the 2nd time and I got really bad dysmenorrhea and then it continued like that almost every month for 9 years now. Once in a while i get normal cramps but most of the time it's dysmenorrhea. Is this normal? Should i go to a doctor?
2055843 tn?1332427915 Hello- I'm not sure how old you are but I'm 27 and have had/have the same types of cramps that you do. I believe the medical term for it is dysmenorrhea. As for it being normal...ehh lol, I guess it's "normal" as in it happens to many women and isn't usually life threatening in any way. However, my personal opinion is that normal isn't always good, and this is one of those cases.
Avatar m tn If the dysmenorrhea has been going on for a bit now, how are they treating it? do you take oral contraceptives, for example? (assuming it is primary dysmenorrhea and not secondary). Statistics show that contraceptive pills and NSAIDS given to women almost always works for primary dysmenorrhea and when it doesn't, doctors begin looking for other causes making it secondary dysmenorrhea. Do you use heating pads, warm baths, abdominal massage to help??
Avatar n tn You might want to check with your Doctor
Drone If you were my patient, I would advise you that you have severe dysmenorrhea. It will often respond to medications such as Ibuprofen or Aleve. I usually recommend that my patients begin taking it at the first hint o symptoms and then continue through out the period on a round the clock basis. In other words don't wait until the symptoms are awful before you take the medication. There are also some prescription medications that might work if the OTC ones are not strong enough. Good luck!
1395422 tn?1308016251 It may come as a surprise to many that menstrual cramps have another name. The medical term for these abdominal and pelvic pains is “dysmenorrhea”. More than 50% of women are affected each month by a certain degree of dysmenorrhea, and 15% of those women are experiencing severe cramping. Isn’t this PMS?
Avatar f tn (1) Are PMS and Primary Dysmenorrhea different names for the same condition? They cause lots of the same problems like nausea & vomiting, diarrohea, diziness, fatigue, cramps, headaches and backache. (2) Does PMS cause stomach cramps by itself or does someone who has PMS and suffers from cramps actually has the cramps because they have Endometriosis or some other condition? (3) I get very shaky, achy and heavy-feeling legs during bad periods.
Avatar n tn I am getting the worse pain ever I have cramps I can't even move because it hurts any suggestions I feel like someone is stabbing me and I am a Virgin I'm 13
Avatar f tn I am 19 and female. I would like a less vague name for my symptoms than just anemia or dysmenorrhea. I usually don't have any symptoms of PMS other than the occasional discomfort during a bowel movement. But every so often I would get a sudden urgent feeling of diarrhea, during the "release" or as I head to the bathroom, I feel light-headed and dizzy and my balance and most of my senses are affected, therefore partially disoriented.
Avatar n tn My doctor has had me on novamoxin for 13 years (for dysmenorrhea). I recent found out that novamoxin can have permanent effects including inhibiting you from conceiving. Is this true?

It would be best to see your Dr. or gynecologist and tell them your problems. They can figure out what is happening with you and would have a good idea about your ability to have children in the future. I hope this helps!
Avatar n tn On the start of my periods I get an intense pain in my abdominal it starts right away and it sometimes gets me feeling faint (i've fainted because of this before) sometimes i get hot flashes and i always get diarrhea taking advil and ibuprofen don't make it go away until about 20 minutes after I take it , sometimes longer. Avatar f tn The primary dysmenorrhea is seen within 2 years of onset of menstruation and stays for 1 to 2 days of each cycle. The secondary dysmenorrhea is due to pelvic inflammatory disease, fibroids, endometriosis (abnormality of lining of uterus), pelvic tumors, etc. You should consult gynecologist for internal examination and other test needed to detect it's cause. In your case, chances of endometriosis are high.

Avatar n tn Secondary dysmenorrhea has an underlying disease, disorder, or structural abnormality either within or outside the uterus. Primary dysmenorrhea is diagnosed when none of these are detected. Dysmenorrhea can exist with excessively heavy blood loss, known as menorrhagia. There are several treatments available for it depending on the type of cramping. There are two kinds of cramping. Spasmodic cramping is caused by chemicals called prostaglandins.
1437126 tn?1284099058 As I've been struggling with endometriosis for years and have done 3 laparascopy and hysterctomy, 3 ivf cycles, taking danazol capsules, contraceptive pills with no success. I now shift to homeopathic treatment and to my surprise I was pain free during the menstrual cycle. I searched from the internet and found many websites and blogs saying Endometriosis is cause due to secondary dysmenorrhea. Will endometriosis be cured if secondary dysmenorrhea is the root cause?

Avatar f tn In your case, having had a tubal ligation, the indication would not be for birth control but for the symptoms you describe and that is fine. I'm not sure what you mean by taking four pills. You should take it as you otherwise would: one pill at the same time each day. I suggest you see your ob/gyn to discuss these issues in greater detail. Best regards, Dr.
Avatar n tn I doubt that I am pregnant given that I am on birth control for dysmenorrhea and I have been on the pill for over 2 years but my symptoms of the dysmenorrhea have come back and I also have diarrhea now too. I had an anal fissure a while ago that has not been completely treated, and I am wondering if this could be the cause of these newly developed symptoms.
Avatar n tn Here is something that has worked wonders for my 17 year old daughter. I talked with a nutritionist and she now takes two Citracal (Calcium citrate Plus vitamin d and mineral supplement with magnesium) and 1 additional Magnesium tablet (250 mg) per day. If you are diligent and take this EVERY SINGLE DAY you will feel somewhat better. After a month on it my daughter noticed a huge difference in her period.
