ibuprofen

Avatar n tn Ibuprofen is a bloodthinner. They say you arent supposed to take it...only tylenol. Because when you are pregnant the volume of blood in your body increases by 50%. If you were to have an accident, go into preterm labor, etc...you could bleed out and hemmorage. Causing lots of problems!
Avatar m tn hi. i'm new to this site. i was dx w/ ncs in 2000. i had a positive tilt table test then. i was put on beta blockers for a few months, and was greta for 8 years. now it's resurfaced again. it's so depressing. feel free to ask anything and look forward to reading the postings.
Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
1148241 tn?1294052796 I recently quit taking Vicodin for my joint pain because I was concerned about liver damage. I have been taking Ibuprofen instead. I've been taking two in the morning and then two in the afternoon. It says don't take longer than 10 days though. I have to take something though. My knees and wrists and fingers hurt too much if I don't. I know you guys aren't Drs but experience counts for something if its what your Dr has told you. What do you guys take?
Avatar f tn Regardless of what they are treating any decrease in the dose of Abilify would lead to it being less effective so that should be discussed with a psychiatrist and as Tegretol (one of the names for the medication you are speaking of) that medication has a short half life (time it remains in the blood stream) so it can easily run out during the day and the dosage and titration and spacing of it should be discussed with a psychiatrist to prevent this from happenning.
Avatar n tn I just came from my dentist and he suggested I take 3 ibuprofen 4 times a day for 3 days to see if it would calm the nerve of a tooth. If it does not, then he suggests a root canal. My main concern is I'm afraid of the stomach problems this might cause. Do I have need to worry? I also take omeprazole to calm my stomach, so am I defeating the purpose? Thank you for your time.
1654058 tn?1407159066 Karen, Your platelets are already low, and NSAIDs can increase the risk for bleeding; imho, acetaminophen over the ibuprofen, hands down. With low platelets from tx and a compromised liver and kidney system, any of the NSAIDs are contra-indicated for you (includes Motrin, Advil, Aleve). Tylenol is not to be taken indiscriminately either, though. With cirrhosis, no more than 2000 mg per day max (that means no more than 4 Extra Strength Tylenol in any 24 hour period).
Avatar f tn Sweetie, there is nothing that you can take that is "a night time formula" that would have that much Ibuprofen in a dose. You shouldn't exceed the recommended dosage and if you took something that said it was a night time formula then you probably took something with diphenydramine in it. What are the active ingredients on the bottle? What strength per dose? 2900mg of Ibuprofen plus anything for sleep in not good. You need to tell someone what you took before you go to sleep.
Avatar n tn If you look at the label on cough syrup for children, even those typically recommend for age 6 and up (at least the brands I have seen.) When my 2 1/2 year old has a cold with a cough I give him milk slightly warmed with honey in it. I have also given him a teaspoon of honey on it's own. It works extremely well.
Avatar f tn My liver doctor says tylenol-only in the recommended dosage, never more. Advil can involve organs other than the liver and since our livers are already under attack, best to keep everything else healthy seemed to be the thought. I always defer to the information from the liver doc, they will be more up to date than doctors of other specialities. Good luck to you.
Avatar m tn 5mg 5 hours after I have given her a dose of 3ml ibuprofen (100mg/5ml)? When her tympanic temp is 40.
Avatar n tn Is it recommended to hold a patients beta blocker in preparation for a tilt table test?
Business man2 1) At my age 69.5 and a daily dosage of 4 ibuprofen OR 3 naproxen, do I have to worry about kidney disease resulting from a "total lifetime dose" of ibuprofen/naproxen ?? 2) At recommended dosage and over a lifetime, does acetaminaphen have less potential to harm me than either ibuprofen or napproxen? 3) Is there a "total lifetime dose" concern for acetaminaphen? Thank you for answering questions in this forum !!
Avatar n tn My daughter has 5 children ages 3,4,4,5,and 7.The 4 year old boy is mildly autistic. The 5 year old boy has aspergers(spelling).I watch them all day while she works and I have very little behavior problems. When they go home she has problems almost as soon as they walk through the door. They do what she calls tag teaming her.
600857 tn?1230057770 m in pain, taking pain meds(percocet, ibuprofen and nuerontin) could the increase be causing this, or the abscense of Valium? I'm taking my meds every 6-8 hrs and I can't sleep.
Avatar n tn What do you do when ADULT step children are rude, lazy, inconsiderate? My husband and I have been married 16 years and they still are ill mannered. When they come to the house they don't help at all in putting a meal on the table let alone picking up their plates to take to the kitchen. They think they are at restaurant and I am the cook/waitress. I have gone to using paper plates and plastic silverware to help in the cleanup. I will not do a holiday for that reason.
762919 tn?1234450210 I was told they want me to have a tilit table test. Does anyone know anything about one of these.. or have had one?
Avatar f tn Chances are good that it's nothing serious. It may just be the start of perimenopause which can make for unpredictable bleeding. NSAID's (such as ibuprofen) especially a "prescription" dosage can reduce bleeding quite a bit. When you see a doctor you can discuss other medications, hormonal (some type of birth control) or non-hormonal (such as tranexamic acid, brand name Lysteda). Hope it all settles down for you!
Avatar m tn I have been taking maximum daily dosage of generic ibuprofen (3200 mg a day, usually 1600mg at a time). I also take 600mg etodolac, 400 in the am and 200 in the pm. I have been having kidney pain on both sides, and excessive sweating. Could this be from taking too much NSAID medication?
Avatar m tn Oh my goodness. A doctor telling a patient to drink in liquid form rather than pill form because it doesn't go through your liver that way? Everything goes through the liver, whether it's liquid, tabs or pills. Ketorolaco is an NSAID, just don't exceed the recommended dosage and there is no reason why you can't take it in pill form. It would probably be faster acting in liquid form but it won't by-pass your liver. Most of us are advised to take acetaphetamine.

Avatar n tn You can try taking your heart rate laying, sitting and standing, but when you stand you are using muscles in your legs that will pump the blood and throw off the test, the tilt table test (TTT) will have you strapped to the table and then elevated therefore you get a true reading. An increase of 30 beats per minute from horizontal to vertical or if you exceed 120 bpm within 10 minutes then you have POTS. Look up info on Dr. Blair Grubb in Toledo, OH.
Avatar n tn The dosage is 1 30mg tablet every 4 to 6 hours. One should be swallowed with water with or after food with water. Also whiste taking this painkiller, do not drink alcohol. Dihydrocodeine tablets may reduce your ability to think clearly. Effects such as ‘pins and needles’, dizziness, spinning sensations, muscle rigidity, visual disturbances, drowsiness, confusion or hallucinations may occur. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected. These tablets can become addictive.
Avatar f tn Has anyone heard of any reactions to ibuprofen while pregnant?
7758733 tn?1402589420 Killer headaches, and never any Tylenol around. Ibuprofen can't be that bad huh? Got to go to work and this headache must go.
