Avatar m tn I have been taking maximum daily dosage of generic ibuprofen (3200 mg a day, usually 1600mg at a time). I also take 600mg etodolac, 400 in the am and 200 in the pm. I have been having kidney pain on both sides, and excessive sweating. Could this be from taking too much NSAID medication?
Avatar m tn Although it is unusual for short term NSAID use to cause kidney issues, it can happen. I would say stay away from that dosage.
1148241 tn?1294052796 I recently quit taking Vicodin for my joint pain because I was concerned about liver damage. I have been taking Ibuprofen instead. I've been taking two in the morning and then two in the afternoon. It says don't take longer than 10 days though. I have to take something though. My knees and wrists and fingers hurt too much if I don't. I know you guys aren't Drs but experience counts for something if its what your Dr has told you. What do you guys take?
Avatar f tn https://www.drugs.com/dosage/naproxen.html Aleve is actually naproxen but is a Nsaid like ibuprofen (different though but in that class of drugs). One thing to keep in mind as tabs can be immediate release, extended release and controlled release. Different maximums depending on that aspect. The OTC version for pain is a max dose of 660mg a day. You are within that. But do reach out as you sound to be in a lot of discomfort. When you getting the tooth fixed?
Avatar f tn For example, take an NSAID (ibuprofen or Ponstel) and then two-three hours later take Tylenol, then 203 hours later take the NSAID again and so on. Have you asked your doctor for something stronger? Such as a combination of Oxycontin and ibuprofen? You want the NSAID for the inflammation but may need the narcotic for the pain.
Avatar f tn No known liver dysfunction. However, I am on high dosage of ibueprofen for chronic pain. I have hot/cold flashes, night sweats, extreme fatigue (I yawn all day), chronic headaches, cannot seem to lose weight even with a healthy diet, have brain fog at times as well. I have goiter and several benign nodules, including one on my isthmus.

1328595 tn?1283018449 I am doubting this is any heart-related problem, but GI upset secondary to the Naprosyn. Perhaps you can try another NSAID, i.e. Ibuprofen. Are you taking the Naprosyn with food and water?
Avatar f tn I thought you couldn't take ibuprofen and was only allowed to take paracetamol? I would double check with a pharmacist or doctor to be safe.
1840891 tn?1431547793 I mentioned topical Ibuprofen so perhaps you could start out reading about the disposition of (oral) ibuprofen in patients with liver cirrhosis. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8403739 and ask your Hepa the extent this would happen (if at all) topically. ____________ I appreciate how limited the choice of meds that must be available to a cirrhotic however I am wondering if moderate use of the topical is completely out of question.
Avatar n tn Ibuprofen is a bloodthinner. They say you arent supposed to take it...only tylenol. Because when you are pregnant the volume of blood in your body increases by 50%. If you were to have an accident, go into preterm labor, etc...you could bleed out and hemmorage. Causing lots of problems!
Avatar f tn taking about 1200 mgs of naproxen is safe but a little high and 800 mgs of ibuprofen every 8 hrs is ok..but the amount of NSAIDS you are taking right now is absolutely too higha dn dangerous..do not atkae it liekly it could bea bsolutely life trheatening there is no addiction potential so i would recommend cutting down emmensily like 4 a day at most...you might ahve already messed up youre stomach and liver..

Avatar f tn One of the most effective treatments for bursitis is to take a sustained course of NSAID (non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs), with ibuprofen being the preferred choice. I have Hep C, have done for nearly 30 years, I am a non responder to conventional treatment, with genotype 1. Is ibuprofen a complete no no for someone like me with hep c, or is there a 'safe' dose?
Avatar n tn Has anyone taken an NSIAD(like Ibuprofen or Celebrex) after being treated for GERD or H. Pylori infection? I recently injured my back and a Pain Management specialist said I could possible take Celebrex to help with the inflammation.
378273 tn?1262097621 i sometimes take an NSAID called naproxen, which is like three ibuprofen in one. this never effects my palpitations or tachycardia, but i can see how it could for some people. i guess it depends on each person. i had asked my cardio about this, as i take these drugs a lot, and he was not concerned about them hurting me. if a drug like that seems to be a trigger though, then it would be best to avoid it. hope you feel better!
Avatar f tn Might be better to switch between an ibuprofen and an NSAID than with Tylenol..
