ibuprofen

Avatar n tn Ibuprofen is a bloodthinner. They say you arent supposed to take it...only tylenol. Because when you are pregnant the volume of blood in your body increases by 50%. If you were to have an accident, go into preterm labor, etc...you could bleed out and hemmorage. Causing lots of problems!
Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
1148241 tn?1294052796 I recently quit taking Vicodin for my joint pain because I was concerned about liver damage. I have been taking Ibuprofen instead. I've been taking two in the morning and then two in the afternoon. It says don't take longer than 10 days though. I have to take something though. My knees and wrists and fingers hurt too much if I don't. I know you guys aren't Drs but experience counts for something if its what your Dr has told you. What do you guys take?
Avatar n tn I just came from my dentist and he suggested I take 3 ibuprofen 4 times a day for 3 days to see if it would calm the nerve of a tooth. If it does not, then he suggests a root canal. My main concern is I'm afraid of the stomach problems this might cause. Do I have need to worry? I also take omeprazole to calm my stomach, so am I defeating the purpose? Thank you for your time.
1654058 tn?1407159066 Karen, Your platelets are already low, and NSAIDs can increase the risk for bleeding; imho, acetaminophen over the ibuprofen, hands down. With low platelets from tx and a compromised liver and kidney system, any of the NSAIDs are contra-indicated for you (includes Motrin, Advil, Aleve). Tylenol is not to be taken indiscriminately either, though. With cirrhosis, no more than 2000 mg per day max (that means no more than 4 Extra Strength Tylenol in any 24 hour period).
Avatar f tn Sweetie, there is nothing that you can take that is "a night time formula" that would have that much Ibuprofen in a dose. You shouldn't exceed the recommended dosage and if you took something that said it was a night time formula then you probably took something with diphenydramine in it. What are the active ingredients on the bottle? What strength per dose? 2900mg of Ibuprofen plus anything for sleep in not good. You need to tell someone what you took before you go to sleep.
Avatar f tn What is your methimazole dosage? Have you been tested since starting the methimazole? You should test for Free T4 and Free T3 (not the same as Total T4 and Total T3) every time you go in, since they are the biologically active thyroid hormones.
Avatar f tn I have been flexing my brain muscles or I should say temple muscles, it’s hard to explain. But I’ve done it over and over due to ocd. Last night I felt a buzzing around my whole head it didn’t hurt. But after that I felt pain in my right temple. It didn’t last too long but all day today I have felt pressure on my head especially near my right temple. I believe it’s due to me flexing the muscles so much. My right temple felt pain in the day but just minor pain, what should I do about this.
Avatar f tn My liver doctor says tylenol-only in the recommended dosage, never more. Advil can involve organs other than the liver and since our livers are already under attack, best to keep everything else healthy seemed to be the thought. I always defer to the information from the liver doc, they will be more up to date than doctors of other specialities. Good luck to you.
14459885 tn?1434632442 This drug is hydrocodone/ibuprofen. Hydrocodone is probably the most prescribed opiate pain medication. Ive never heard of hydrocodone and ibuprofen together. It's much better than hydrocodone and acetaminophen because the acetaminophen is very hard on the liver. Depending on the dosage (hydrocodone is usually prescribed in doses 5mg, 7.5mg and 10mg) You may have some mild discomfort or something more like a true opiate withdrawal. Tell us a little more about your situation.
Avatar f tn Lorecet is an opiate (hydrocodone) and contains Acetaminophen (APAP). You must limit limit your dosage of Acetaminophen (again depending on the amount of liver disease you have) or you could cause liver damage. You should not drink alcohol when taking Acetaminophen. Soma/Carisoprodol, a muscle relaxant, is used with rest, physical therapy, and other measures to relax muscles and relieve pain and discomfort caused by strains, sprains, and other muscle injuries.
Avatar m tn 5mg 5 hours after I have given her a dose of 3ml ibuprofen (100mg/5ml)? When her tympanic temp is 40.
Avatar f tn He is not an endoctrinoligist and I thinik perhaps I should find one to get this straighened out. My muscles hurt 24/7 and so far no one seems to be able to figure it out. He has me on 100mcg 6 days a week now in stead of 7. I think I need a change of doctors. What do you think? Can someone help me out?
Avatar m tn 2/4/09 Dear Dr. Gross: I damaged both of my knees playing football more than 40 years ago. I damaged the meniscus on the inside of both knees from being tackled many times. I have been able to get by all of these years but now the jig is up. About 15 years ago, a sports orthopedist gave me some really serious knee braces and said they would stabilize my loose knees. They controlled the pain.
Avatar n tn Posture correction, try to balance your head onto your vertebrae, taking the load of neck muscles, allowing your muscles to relax. Elastic tape might help you to support certain movements and make you aware of unhelpful posture. Also, look for daily activities that hurt, use your pain in a positive way to identify the cause, then try to improve or avoid the way you do that. Maybe a life-style consultant / psychologist / haptonomist / yoga-instructor could guide you.
Avatar f tn Once you get back into normal range your muscles will also feel normal. I have found that the worse thing with thyroid issues is being patient. The best thing I have found.......Im learning patience. I would be hypo and think i was getting better than Id be hyper. its ***** but once happy medium is found.....Life is good!
Business man2 1) At my age 69.5 and a daily dosage of 4 ibuprofen OR 3 naproxen, do I have to worry about kidney disease resulting from a "total lifetime dose" of ibuprofen/naproxen ?? 2) At recommended dosage and over a lifetime, does acetaminaphen have less potential to harm me than either ibuprofen or napproxen? 3) Is there a "total lifetime dose" concern for acetaminaphen? Thank you for answering questions in this forum !!
600857 tn?1230057770 m in pain, taking pain meds(percocet, ibuprofen and nuerontin) could the increase be causing this, or the abscense of Valium? I'm taking my meds every 6-8 hrs and I can't sleep.
Avatar f tn Personally, I would give it more time. For me, sleep was one of the last things to get back to normal for me after I detoxed. It took a while. Instead of asking the doc for a sleeping script you may want to try some natural remedies. I will post a list below. I used the Kava in tea form myself and found success.
Avatar f tn Chances are good that it's nothing serious. It may just be the start of perimenopause which can make for unpredictable bleeding. NSAID's (such as ibuprofen) especially a "prescription" dosage can reduce bleeding quite a bit. When you see a doctor you can discuss other medications, hormonal (some type of birth control) or non-hormonal (such as tranexamic acid, brand name Lysteda). Hope it all settles down for you!
Avatar m tn I have been taking maximum daily dosage of generic ibuprofen (3200 mg a day, usually 1600mg at a time). I also take 600mg etodolac, 400 in the am and 200 in the pm. I have been having kidney pain on both sides, and excessive sweating. Could this be from taking too much NSAID medication?
Avatar m tn Oh my goodness. A doctor telling a patient to drink in liquid form rather than pill form because it doesn't go through your liver that way? Everything goes through the liver, whether it's liquid, tabs or pills. Ketorolaco is an NSAID, just don't exceed the recommended dosage and there is no reason why you can't take it in pill form. It would probably be faster acting in liquid form but it won't by-pass your liver. Most of us are advised to take acetaphetamine.
Avatar m tn Applied ice regularly starting within seconds of the injury, daily dosage 1000mg Vit. E, Bed rest-little to no movement 24/7, Ibuprofen every 6-8 hours Question: What now? Do I continue with 1000iu of Vit. E ? Should I apply heat for 20 minutes 3-4 times a day? If so should I follow it up with an ice pack?
Avatar f tn I'm a 21 year old female, 5'5", and 135 lbs. I run 30 minutes a day at least 5 days a week, and also do 20-30 minutes of muscle exercises 3-4 days a week. I have a history of neck and back problems. Lately, however, I've been experiencing a lot of muscle fatigue that seems strange. My whole body feels very weak and exhausted no matter what I do.
