Ibuprofen dosage level

Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen dosage level

ibuprofen

Avatar n tn Ibuprofen is a bloodthinner. They say you arent supposed to take it...only tylenol. Because when you are pregnant the volume of blood in your body increases by 50%. If you were to have an accident, go into preterm labor, etc...you could bleed out and hemmorage. Causing lots of problems!
Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
1148241 tn?1294052796 I recently quit taking Vicodin for my joint pain because I was concerned about liver damage. I have been taking Ibuprofen instead. I've been taking two in the morning and then two in the afternoon. It says don't take longer than 10 days though. I have to take something though. My knees and wrists and fingers hurt too much if I don't. I know you guys aren't Drs but experience counts for something if its what your Dr has told you. What do you guys take?
Avatar n tn The label on my bottle says to not take the tenofovir with ibuprofen. However, I previously asked my doctor if ibuprofen (among many other question I had) would be okay to take alongside it occasionally --- and he said it was no problem. Hmmm. What to believe? The label or the doctor? o_O Any personal experience with the interaction of these two medications?
Avatar n tn I just came from my dentist and he suggested I take 3 ibuprofen 4 times a day for 3 days to see if it would calm the nerve of a tooth. If it does not, then he suggests a root canal. My main concern is I'm afraid of the stomach problems this might cause. Do I have need to worry? I also take omeprazole to calm my stomach, so am I defeating the purpose? Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn 40 please answer quickly and thank you!
1654058 tn?1407159066 Karen, Your platelets are already low, and NSAIDs can increase the risk for bleeding; imho, acetaminophen over the ibuprofen, hands down. With low platelets from tx and a compromised liver and kidney system, any of the NSAIDs are contra-indicated for you (includes Motrin, Advil, Aleve). Tylenol is not to be taken indiscriminately either, though. With cirrhosis, no more than 2000 mg per day max (that means no more than 4 Extra Strength Tylenol in any 24 hour period).
Avatar n tn 1 mcg of Synthroid and that he was going to change my dosage to 0.75 mcg. If my TSH level is already low, wouldn't lowering my dosage of Synthroid make this level even lower? Are palpitations a symptom of low TSH? I am due to have a repeat TSH in 2 months at which time I will ask the M.D. to add a T3 and T4 (these have not been drawn for some time).....
1964979 tn?1325538025 Oh well.. made it through two weeks of the full 180 dose of Pegasys.. but my latest CBC yesterday showed a platelet count in the 30's so the doctor is having me cut the dosage in half for the interferon... Get my 4 week VL test done on Jan. 25th, so hopefully will get good news and be able to continue.. otherwise, it is off the train and back to the station to wait for the all oral treatments to hit.. It is in the Lord's hands now..
Avatar f tn Sweetie, there is nothing that you can take that is "a night time formula" that would have that much Ibuprofen in a dose. You shouldn't exceed the recommended dosage and if you took something that said it was a night time formula then you probably took something with diphenydramine in it. What are the active ingredients on the bottle? What strength per dose? 2900mg of Ibuprofen plus anything for sleep in not good. You need to tell someone what you took before you go to sleep.
Avatar m tn So, short term you need to get your Free T4 level up a bit and also get your doctor to prescribe some T3 med to gradually raise your Free T3 level as necessary to relieve symptoms. Since hypo patients are frequently too low in the ranges for Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin I also suggest that you get those tested and then supplement as necessary to optimize. D needs to be 55-60. B12 in the upper end of its range, and ferritin should be 70 minimum.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for the great information. The free's were not tested this time, but I will request that you are next time. Again, thank you.
Avatar f tn My liver doctor says tylenol-only in the recommended dosage, never more. Advil can involve organs other than the liver and since our livers are already under attack, best to keep everything else healthy seemed to be the thought. I always defer to the information from the liver doc, they will be more up to date than doctors of other specialities. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn t need to test for free T3 because if they know the level of free T4, then they can adequately estimate free T3 level. That is frequently not correct because some patients do not convert T4 to T3 adequately. Also, when taking thyroid meds, FT3 levels frequently get out of balance with FT4 levels. In view of all this, why not just test and make sure? If the doctor resists testing for FT3, then you should insist on getting it done.
Avatar m tn 5mg 5 hours after I have given her a dose of 3ml ibuprofen (100mg/5ml)? When her tympanic temp is 40.
Avatar f tn Do they increase or decrease the dose of levothyroxine to get it to the right level? I had my thyroid removed a year ago because of a multi-nodular goiter and I haven't had a normal level since. I am wondering if my doctor is doing this right. He is not an endoctrinoligist and I thinik perhaps I should find one to get this straighened out. My muscles hurt 24/7 and so far no one seems to be able to figure it out. He has me on 100mcg 6 days a week now in stead of 7.
1182699 tn?1297574784 I think there is very little if any affect on blood pressure (ibuprofen). But, I know it is generally accepted that aspirin (ibuprofen too I assume) has some heart benefits. I think most or all of that comes from the affect aspirin has on the blood platelets, makes them more slippery ( I think) - thus less chance of a clot formation, maybe some lowering of blood pressure, but I still think very little affect on BP.
Business man2 1) At my age 69.5 and a daily dosage of 4 ibuprofen OR 3 naproxen, do I have to worry about kidney disease resulting from a "total lifetime dose" of ibuprofen/naproxen ?? 2) At recommended dosage and over a lifetime, does acetaminaphen have less potential to harm me than either ibuprofen or napproxen? 3) Is there a "total lifetime dose" concern for acetaminaphen? Thank you for answering questions in this forum !!

640719 tn?1277140030 Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what works best for hurting legs, hips, feet, toes and hands? I've gone just a bit hypo a tad TF4 1.2 TF3 287 TSH 1.03 I had half my thyroid removed 9-30-09 I am non Hasti's. I was level for about 4 months about a year out after surgery but then dropped two months after they switched me from a generic drug Levothyroxine to synthroid. I was surprised I had dropped I thought I'd be better regulated switching over to name brand?
600857 tn?1230057770 m in pain, taking pain meds(percocet, ibuprofen and nuerontin) could the increase be causing this, or the abscense of Valium? I'm taking my meds every 6-8 hrs and I can't sleep.
Avatar m tn Some days I may only take one 4mg tab - others I might take 3 tabs over the course of the day - it all depends on my pain level. The only side effect is some memory problems but that might be age related??? I also take 800 mg Advil BID and Prednisone PRN. My question is - if I stop taking the hydromorphone, will I suffer a withdrawal? As doses go, is 4mg a large dose?
Avatar f tn Personally, I think that your doctor is relying too much on TSH as the diagnostic test to determine med dosage. TSH is a pituitary hormone that does not correlate well at all with hypo symptoms. In my opinion it would be far better to test for and use the biologically active thyroid hormones, free T3 and free T4 to evaluate and dose your daughter, based more on her symptoms.
Avatar m tn Test with your finger first if it is the right temperature and remember that your penis is much more sensitive to temperature than your finger, so know that the temperature of the tea is a level warmer to your penis than what you feel when you put your finger in (you can't go wrong if you go for the safe side, that is, if it is more cooler than warmer, but not cold). You can even do it two times a day if you feel like.
Avatar f tn Chances are good that it's nothing serious. It may just be the start of perimenopause which can make for unpredictable bleeding. NSAID's (such as ibuprofen) especially a "prescription" dosage can reduce bleeding quite a bit. When you see a doctor you can discuss other medications, hormonal (some type of birth control) or non-hormonal (such as tranexamic acid, brand name Lysteda). Hope it all settles down for you!
