Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen dosage information

ibuprofen

Avatar m tn Yes, absolutely! Do NOT give your dog Ibuprofen. I reckon if a dog needs a painkiller, that dog really needs a vet.....
Avatar n tn Ibuprofen is a bloodthinner. They say you arent supposed to take it...only tylenol. Because when you are pregnant the volume of blood in your body increases by 50%. If you were to have an accident, go into preterm labor, etc...you could bleed out and hemmorage. Causing lots of problems!
Avatar n tn The dosage is 1 30mg tablet every 4 to 6 hours. One should be swallowed with water with or after food with water. Also whiste taking this painkiller, do not drink alcohol. Dihydrocodeine tablets may reduce your ability to think clearly. Effects such as ‘pins and needles’, dizziness, spinning sensations, muscle rigidity, visual disturbances, drowsiness, confusion or hallucinations may occur. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected. These tablets can become addictive.
Avatar f tn My liver doctor says tylenol-only in the recommended dosage, never more. Advil can involve organs other than the liver and since our livers are already under attack, best to keep everything else healthy seemed to be the thought. I always defer to the information from the liver doc, they will be more up to date than doctors of other specialities. Good luck to you.
Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
1148241 tn?1294052796 I recently quit taking Vicodin for my joint pain because I was concerned about liver damage. I have been taking Ibuprofen instead. I've been taking two in the morning and then two in the afternoon. It says don't take longer than 10 days though. I have to take something though. My knees and wrists and fingers hurt too much if I don't. I know you guys aren't Drs but experience counts for something if its what your Dr has told you. What do you guys take?
Avatar n tn I just came from my dentist and he suggested I take 3 ibuprofen 4 times a day for 3 days to see if it would calm the nerve of a tooth. If it does not, then he suggests a root canal. My main concern is I'm afraid of the stomach problems this might cause. Do I have need to worry? I also take omeprazole to calm my stomach, so am I defeating the purpose? Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn You should see a doctor for advice and a diagnosis, before your symptoms worsen. Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can help reduce fevers and pain (read the directions on the label for dosage information), but you should still be seen by a doctor in order to determine what the problem is. I hope you start feeling better soon. Get plenty of rest, and keep drinking healthy fluids to stay hydrated.
Avatar m tn Thank you so much for your answer, kindd! You gave me exactly the information that I was looking for (and then some). I've been taking small doses of ibuprofen (600mg) the past couple of days and haven't noticed any changes. I'll up my ibuprofen dosage tonight and apply a warm compress. If there are no changes, I will schedule an appointment with a doctor tomorrow morning. I will post back with any new information for future reference for the community. Thanks again!
1654058 tn?1407159066 Karen, Your platelets are already low, and NSAIDs can increase the risk for bleeding; imho, acetaminophen over the ibuprofen, hands down. With low platelets from tx and a compromised liver and kidney system, any of the NSAIDs are contra-indicated for you (includes Motrin, Advil, Aleve). Tylenol is not to be taken indiscriminately either, though. With cirrhosis, no more than 2000 mg per day max (that means no more than 4 Extra Strength Tylenol in any 24 hour period).
Avatar f tn Sweetie, there is nothing that you can take that is "a night time formula" that would have that much Ibuprofen in a dose. You shouldn't exceed the recommended dosage and if you took something that said it was a night time formula then you probably took something with diphenydramine in it. What are the active ingredients on the bottle? What strength per dose? 2900mg of Ibuprofen plus anything for sleep in not good. You need to tell someone what you took before you go to sleep.
Avatar m tn We cannot provide dosage information on here because we are not privy to your detailed medical history or other vital info. One of the docs on the forum might be able to. Whatever you do if you decide to take prednisone be very careful and please do not stay on them long and do not stop suddenly if you're on them longer than a weak. Steroids have very negative effects on the body so please don't self-treat by acquiring someone elses steroids.
Avatar m tn 5mg 5 hours after I have given her a dose of 3ml ibuprofen (100mg/5ml)? When her tympanic temp is 40.
Business man2 1) At my age 69.5 and a daily dosage of 4 ibuprofen OR 3 naproxen, do I have to worry about kidney disease resulting from a "total lifetime dose" of ibuprofen/naproxen ?? 2) At recommended dosage and over a lifetime, does acetaminaphen have less potential to harm me than either ibuprofen or napproxen? 3) Is there a "total lifetime dose" concern for acetaminaphen? Thank you for answering questions in this forum !!
Avatar f tn I just purchased 200 mg ibuprofen/12.8 mg codeine (package of 96) online from a drugstore. It said it was an over the counter drug and I want to make sure I'm not doing anything illegal. Does anyone know if this is okay to purchase online? I live in Florida and sure don't want to end up in trouble over something so minor. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!!
600857 tn?1230057770 m in pain, taking pain meds(percocet, ibuprofen and nuerontin) could the increase be causing this, or the abscense of Valium? I'm taking my meds every 6-8 hrs and I can't sleep.
Avatar f tn Thanks for posting back with much needed information. I am unaware how medical patient services are handled in the UK nor what patients right are. In the US we have the right to fire any doctor and ask or choose [w/o asking] a new one of our choice. If this is pertains to you I would fire your current doctor for the simple reason of playing you as a human guinea pig by dispensing pills with a "lets try this first" attitude.
Avatar f tn Chances are good that it's nothing serious. It may just be the start of perimenopause which can make for unpredictable bleeding. NSAID's (such as ibuprofen) especially a "prescription" dosage can reduce bleeding quite a bit. When you see a doctor you can discuss other medications, hormonal (some type of birth control) or non-hormonal (such as tranexamic acid, brand name Lysteda). Hope it all settles down for you!
Avatar m tn I have been taking maximum daily dosage of generic ibuprofen (3200 mg a day, usually 1600mg at a time). I also take 600mg etodolac, 400 in the am and 200 in the pm. I have been having kidney pain on both sides, and excessive sweating. Could this be from taking too much NSAID medication?
Avatar m tn Oh my goodness. A doctor telling a patient to drink in liquid form rather than pill form because it doesn't go through your liver that way? Everything goes through the liver, whether it's liquid, tabs or pills. Ketorolaco is an NSAID, just don't exceed the recommended dosage and there is no reason why you can't take it in pill form. It would probably be faster acting in liquid form but it won't by-pass your liver. Most of us are advised to take acetaphetamine.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for the great information. The free's were not tested this time, but I will request that you are next time. Again, thank you.
Avatar f tn Just looking for anymore information or advise about withdraws from Fioricet / I have been taking this medication from years from Migrain headaches, it's seemed the longer I was on it the less it helped so I would increase my doses because I could not get rid of my headaches the other day I just stopped using it because it was like just this non stop headache.
