Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen dosage inflammation

ibuprofen

Avatar n tn I just came from my dentist and he suggested I take 3 ibuprofen 4 times a day for 3 days to see if it would calm the nerve of a tooth. If it does not, then he suggests a root canal. My main concern is I'm afraid of the stomach problems this might cause. Do I have need to worry? I also take omeprazole to calm my stomach, so am I defeating the purpose? Thank you for your time.
1565336 tn?1336228387 For painful thyroiditis caused by inflammation, aspirin or ibuprofen may work. However such drugs should not be used if swelling or pain caused by bleeding or patient has blood coagulating disorders.
Avatar n tn Ibuprofen is a bloodthinner. They say you arent supposed to take it...only tylenol. Because when you are pregnant the volume of blood in your body increases by 50%. If you were to have an accident, go into preterm labor, etc...you could bleed out and hemmorage. Causing lots of problems!
973741 tn?1342342773 Is there a down side or risks involved in taking supplements heavy in turmeric for body inflammation? Is it an alternative to ibuprofen or other products that work well but can raise blood pressure?
Avatar n tn Application of mild corticosteroid cream and oral antiinflammatories like ibuprofen/acetaminophen are also helpful. If the symptoms are severe then it will be best to consult a dermatologist. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
1182699 tn?1297574784 I think there is very little if any affect on blood pressure (ibuprofen). But, I know it is generally accepted that aspirin (ibuprofen too I assume) has some heart benefits. I think most or all of that comes from the affect aspirin has on the blood platelets, makes them more slippery ( I think) - thus less chance of a clot formation, maybe some lowering of blood pressure, but I still think very little affect on BP.
Avatar n tn The label on my bottle says to not take the tenofovir with ibuprofen. However, I previously asked my doctor if ibuprofen (among many other question I had) would be okay to take alongside it occasionally --- and he said it was no problem. Hmmm. What to believe? The label or the doctor? o_O Any personal experience with the interaction of these two medications?
Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
1148241 tn?1294052796 I recently quit taking Vicodin for my joint pain because I was concerned about liver damage. I have been taking Ibuprofen instead. I've been taking two in the morning and then two in the afternoon. It says don't take longer than 10 days though. I have to take something though. My knees and wrists and fingers hurt too much if I don't. I know you guys aren't Drs but experience counts for something if its what your Dr has told you. What do you guys take?
Avatar m tn I have been having chest pains that worsens when moving and touching the the affected area. Was diagnosed with inflammation of some parts of joints of ribs. Was told to take ibuprofen. The pain gets better but returns. R there other meds???
Avatar f tn Thank you Michael - someone had said that IBS doesn't cause inflammation that would be shown on colonoscopy but I thought it may do. I don't take ibuprofen and actually I've never had any bleeding so perhaps IBS will be the answer. Hope you don't suffer too much with your IBS.
Avatar n tn Correct. Ibuprofen or Naproxen, but not both. One or the other. I find Naproxen the most helpful, as it works more quickly. Aleve is a brand name for OTC Naproxen. Tyelenol is in a different category. Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS) are the ones you want to treat inflammation. Aspirin is also in this class. Again, only use one form of these and not all of them.
1230912 tn?1273492770 t as easy to ignore and taking ibuprofen (which I take 800mg twice a day) does not help to even lessen them a little. So I e-mailed my doctor about it and she put in a script for TraMadol, in turn I had to tell her I was already on that for my back problems so she sent in a script for Naproxen. Personally I don't think this is going to help at all because I have never had good luck with it in non-script form but we shall see.
Avatar f tn It sounds like your Bartholin's glands are backed up. This is okay unless they are infected, in which case there is more painful inflammation, heat, fever. Also it is possible to have an STD causing the problem, but I don't think that's the usual reason. You would see a gynecologist if they are painful.
1654058 tn?1407159066 Karen, Your platelets are already low, and NSAIDs can increase the risk for bleeding; imho, acetaminophen over the ibuprofen, hands down. With low platelets from tx and a compromised liver and kidney system, any of the NSAIDs are contra-indicated for you (includes Motrin, Advil, Aleve). Tylenol is not to be taken indiscriminately either, though. With cirrhosis, no more than 2000 mg per day max (that means no more than 4 Extra Strength Tylenol in any 24 hour period).
Avatar n tn It was 2 hrs before I can have another Vidodin so I took 800mg of ibuprofen. It is still another hour before I can have the Vicodin and I'm trying to be patient but the pain is incredible. Ice pack helps some. Is there anything else I can do... I'm desperate. Would taking a Vicodin only one hour early be dangerous? I am not a drug addict by any means and under normal circumstances, decline meds when offered by the Dr.
Avatar f tn Sweetie, there is nothing that you can take that is "a night time formula" that would have that much Ibuprofen in a dose. You shouldn't exceed the recommended dosage and if you took something that said it was a night time formula then you probably took something with diphenydramine in it. What are the active ingredients on the bottle? What strength per dose? 2900mg of Ibuprofen plus anything for sleep in not good. You need to tell someone what you took before you go to sleep.
Avatar n tn Despite this the symptoms have now spread to my right hip, right shoulder and slight symptoms in my right knee. I get some relief from taking 400mg of Ibuprofen at night so I can sleep. Is there anything else I can do to try to halt the progression of the disease? Or are there any better meds I can take. I am 54yrs old, female and not over weight and physically active.
1305767 tn?1361192676 Is it safe to take ibuprofen in the same day as Meloxicam? I take 15 mg of the Meloxicam in the morning for pain but need additional pain relief later in the day and I know that both drugs are NSAID so I don't want to accidentally overdose.
Avatar f tn My liver doctor says tylenol-only in the recommended dosage, never more. Advil can involve organs other than the liver and since our livers are already under attack, best to keep everything else healthy seemed to be the thought. I always defer to the information from the liver doc, they will be more up to date than doctors of other specialities. Good luck to you.
Avatar m tn 5mg 5 hours after I have given her a dose of 3ml ibuprofen (100mg/5ml)? When her tympanic temp is 40.
1305767 tn?1361192676 When the pain is severe I end up taking 2800-3200 (max dose) a day, basically 800 mg every four hours which my Dr said is okay. The dentist didn't say anything about inflammation but the ibuprofen helps so there probably is inflammation. I've also been having problems with pain in my neck, stiffness and aching at the base of my skull to the left of my spine.
Business man2 1) At my age 69.5 and a daily dosage of 4 ibuprofen OR 3 naproxen, do I have to worry about kidney disease resulting from a "total lifetime dose" of ibuprofen/naproxen ?? 2) At recommended dosage and over a lifetime, does acetaminaphen have less potential to harm me than either ibuprofen or napproxen? 3) Is there a "total lifetime dose" concern for acetaminaphen? Thank you for answering questions in this forum !!
