ibuprofen

Avatar f tn Is 3-6 200mg Ibuprofen a day for a 3-6 days a week bad for you over a long period of time?
Avatar n tn Ibuprofen is a bloodthinner. They say you arent supposed to take it...only tylenol. Because when you are pregnant the volume of blood in your body increases by 50%. If you were to have an accident, go into preterm labor, etc...you could bleed out and hemmorage. Causing lots of problems!
Avatar f tn The LAB is testing the levels of my prescribed dosage. It's called a PMP 15 panel... What is used to get my levels? Is it the urine or blood? An UA comp is ordered. Is anyone a chemist or lab technician that can answer that question? I went online and entered LC-MS/MS, and it shows that it's like a data base and since the war on opiates is in full swing I'm just wondering if I need to take everything and by that I mean if I'm prescribed 3-5 pills a day as needed.
6708370 tn?1471490210 Clinical guidelines from medical groups typically recommend acetaminophen for pain relief, but “the American guidelines were published in 2007, when the evidence was weaker,” said the senior author, Manuela L. Ferreira, an associate professor at the George Institute for Global Health in Sydney. “This new evidence — the highest quality evidence from papers all over the world — shows that it is time to review the recommendations on acetaminophen.” The lead author, Gustavo C. Machado, a Ph.D.
Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
1148241 tn?1294052796 I recently quit taking Vicodin for my joint pain because I was concerned about liver damage. I have been taking Ibuprofen instead. I've been taking two in the morning and then two in the afternoon. It says don't take longer than 10 days though. I have to take something though. My knees and wrists and fingers hurt too much if I don't. I know you guys aren't Drs but experience counts for something if its what your Dr has told you. What do you guys take?
Avatar m tn I am trying to get something in writing to show that this decision does not follow within the accepted guidelines for treatment of his form of Hepititis. I believe the Dr. in Az. may have made this decision not realizing he did not have a 12 week blood sample. My son is 43 years old and in otherwise good health. He has not had any symptoms of Hep C nor has he had any side effects from the treatments.
280485 tn?1249013844 I have read numerous posts stating what the RAI dosage was for various people and their different cancers. I had a VERY small nodule that was cancersous, no mestatis and received 98mCi. Others who have seemed to have had way more serious sounding cancers have gotten lower doses in some cases. To put this in perspective, Hopeful436 is a friend, and her cancer was similar to mine. Her nodules were even a bit larger than mine, and yet she got 50mCi of Radiation...?
Avatar n tn I just came from my dentist and he suggested I take 3 ibuprofen 4 times a day for 3 days to see if it would calm the nerve of a tooth. If it does not, then he suggests a root canal. My main concern is I'm afraid of the stomach problems this might cause. Do I have need to worry? I also take omeprazole to calm my stomach, so am I defeating the purpose? Thank you for your time.
1654058 tn?1407159066 Karen, Your platelets are already low, and NSAIDs can increase the risk for bleeding; imho, acetaminophen over the ibuprofen, hands down. With low platelets from tx and a compromised liver and kidney system, any of the NSAIDs are contra-indicated for you (includes Motrin, Advil, Aleve). Tylenol is not to be taken indiscriminately either, though. With cirrhosis, no more than 2000 mg per day max (that means no more than 4 Extra Strength Tylenol in any 24 hour period).
Avatar f tn Sweetie, there is nothing that you can take that is "a night time formula" that would have that much Ibuprofen in a dose. You shouldn't exceed the recommended dosage and if you took something that said it was a night time formula then you probably took something with diphenydramine in it. What are the active ingredients on the bottle? What strength per dose? 2900mg of Ibuprofen plus anything for sleep in not good. You need to tell someone what you took before you go to sleep.
211043 tn?1337050701 I don't know, maybe all of your docs have told you ladies the same thing, but I seem to remember my last doc saying it was OK to take ibuprofen during the 2ww. So I thought I'd post this to make sure everyone knew. My brand new doctor (who is fricken AWESOME by the way - yay!) and my RE's office (also great) have told me not to take ibuprofen or Aleve. Both of these have apparently been found to be linked to a higher miscarriage rate.
Avatar f tn My liver doctor says tylenol-only in the recommended dosage, never more. Advil can involve organs other than the liver and since our livers are already under attack, best to keep everything else healthy seemed to be the thought. I always defer to the information from the liver doc, they will be more up to date than doctors of other specialities. Good luck to you.
Avatar m tn 5mg 5 hours after I have given her a dose of 3ml ibuprofen (100mg/5ml)? When her tympanic temp is 40.
Avatar m tn for the riba. HGB is at new low of 8.4; wbc up at 2.6. Riba is to be decreased (we have to check if pill can be cut) from 400 2x a day to 200 -1x and 400 -1x; I know hep md is following guidelines of Merck (I'm also on Vic) and Mayo in reduction. No rescue drugs given or suggested. No wonder doing the simplest things was exhausting! Go in for wk 16 vl tomorrow; LFT are coming in at normal range.
Avatar f tn I am still symptomatic (ie tired, weak leg muscles, lump in throat, etc), but my doc said as long as I was within the normals, she would not increase my dosage. I thought I read in another post to you that the goal is to keep the TSH around 1, is that true? (Mine went from .774 to .887). I would like to send her an article or a standard of care if there is one. I have access to all journals. Can you recommend something that might give her more information.
Avatar m tn Please read the Posting Guidelines, 6/11/10. We are a group of people who suffer from anxiety, not psychiatrists. Only your doctor can advise you on dosage.
Avatar n tn what would be the proper dosage of penicillin g sodium (i.m.) for the treatment of a 35 yr old male with secondary syphillis...less than one year.
Business man2 1) At my age 69.5 and a daily dosage of 4 ibuprofen OR 3 naproxen, do I have to worry about kidney disease resulting from a "total lifetime dose" of ibuprofen/naproxen ?? 2) At recommended dosage and over a lifetime, does acetaminaphen have less potential to harm me than either ibuprofen or napproxen? 3) Is there a "total lifetime dose" concern for acetaminaphen? Thank you for answering questions in this forum !!
600857 tn?1230057770 m in pain, taking pain meds(percocet, ibuprofen and nuerontin) could the increase be causing this, or the abscense of Valium? I'm taking my meds every 6-8 hrs and I can't sleep.
1658980 tn?1330711550 My WBC and ANC dropped on my week 4 labs - WBC is 1.46 and ANC is .67 (670) and trial level for dosage reduction is .75 (750) so I am directed to reduce peg from 180 to 135mcg. A drop to .5 and neupogen is indicated. Then I read a lot of posts from people that would try anything including rescue drugs rather than reduce their dosage. Others say the neupogen has its own set of sx and they would rather reduce. Others would rather wait until ANC drops to .
