I have an itchy rash on my butt. He said it was dermatitis. He prescribed an Ibuprofen piconol cream (a Japanese brand that is that). He said to buy gauze from a chemist and to use a gauze to put it on. He did it once and it stayed but the one that I bought and daubed the cream doesn't stay. Falls off very quickly. The question is does using a gauze matter medically( it might be to just protect clothes) for applying this cream? I am putting in on by hand now.
I have tried several anti inflammatory medications, ibuprofen, arthritis strength tylenol, naprosyn to name a few, and nothing seems to alleviate my discomfort. A friend suggested I try using progesterone cream ( natural Yam) and I immediately felt relief of my joint pain. Is joint pain an actual symptom of menopause? Is progesterone cream safe to use? The comfort I gain from using the cream seems to wear off toward the end of the day. Can I use it twice a day?
I have arthritis pain in many joints of my body, my feet especially. Is there anyone out there with the same issue, and is so, what have you taken to relieve the discomfort?
I also take meloxicam, and tylenol is about the only thing that I know of that can be taken in conjunction with it. You still need to be careful not to take more than the prescribed dosages, though.
I believe there were studies done recently that showed too many people take over the counter tylenol, believing it's safe - too much of it is hard on the liver. Most people really only need one regular strength tylenol, not two extra strength.
Anyway, that got a little off topic.
This is about my husband who has arthritis. He wakes up every morning with his right hand (entire) swollen and painful. Our internal med dr. said it was caused by arthritis.
Just try to keep him comfortable as you can, give him some ibuprofen for the pain and some moist, warm heat on his joints. Please keep me updated on how your son does with this.
I wanted to update that I recently have had problems with pain in my right shoulder, received two shots. And a prescription of 800 mg ibuprofen. which has done nothing for the pain. the dr. then decided to try me on a 30 day pack of Mobic. which is a arthritis medication. I do have that in my neck. it was after 10 days of taking this stuff that I noticed this strange bluish , purple an bleeding under neath each of my large toes. its very very strange.
NO! Dogs can't metabolize ibuprofen (advil). You can give him tylenol for a short time, but he will be much better off with an anti-inflammatory from your vet.
I had two dogs that ended up with severe arthritis. The first took rimadyl daily for 5 of his 13.5 years due to hip displaysia. The last couple of years we switched to deramaxx when the symptoms got more severe. BIG difference with the deramaxx, but it's more expensive.
With the symptoms you mentioned I feel it could be tendinitis or arthritis or bursitis. Arthritis can be secondary to many diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, gout, injury, infections etc. Bursitis and tendinitis can occur due to over use and injury to the knee.
As pain subsided with ibuprofen it could be some inflammation like bursitis, arthritis or tendinitis. Take rest, elevate your limbs while sleeping, take ibuprofen if necessary.
Does it hurt more with certain positions of the hands or all the time? You could have simple arthritis in them, or rheumatoid arthritis in them, or even carpal tunnel syndrome. A visit to your primary care physician can diagnose which problem, if any, you have, and could relate treatment to you at that time. Typically, some type of anti-inflammatory medication is given, like Advil/Ibuprofen/Alleve for the over the counter types, which is most always tried first...
After visiting with the doctor yesterday due to a sinus infection I decided to confess to her about my headaches. :) Headaches that start behind my left eye, always the left. After several of these headaches, starting about 10 years ago, I finally found that Benedryl with a decongestant takes care of it. However, the longer I wait to take the Benedryl the longer it takes to get it under control. So then it radiates to the back of my head and into my shoulder.

So I have problems with my feet. A few times/year I'll wake up in the middle of the night and my foot (one or the other) is aching and throbbing - no swelling, no discoloration. I'll spend the next 2 days hobbling around in pain. And then, out of nowhere, it'll disappear. This has been happening for a few years now, but more so that I've gained some weight back.

Noooo... I know my doctor said it can be VERY harmful!!! I cannot tell you why, but that's what I was told :/ I feel ya, I miss my Ibuprofen!!
Some people turn to alternative herbal remedies because some over the counter anti-inflammatories, like Ibuprofen does not help everyone and can cause other problems. Ibuprofen does not agree with me and caused oedema and pain in my legs. It can also cause stomach problems and a stomach medication like Omeprazole will be prescribed as well sometimes. But the directions on taking Ibuprofen do say to take it with or after food.
