237053 tn?1258828426 Do any of you take a prescribed anti inflammatory? I'm thinking of asking my dr about getting on one. I'm thinking it should help with some of the pain...
Avatar m tn s not like ibuprofen is some miracle drug that you need to survive. And there are alternative anti-inflammatory meds that don't have these dangerous side effects. Aminoactiv is one. You might want to check it out!
Avatar n tn Then in addition, anti inflammatory drugs can be taken like Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen but they should be taken under a medical supervision. Surgery is the last resort to go in for a hematoma. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
1475492 tn?1332884167 I agree with Alex. Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory and large doses under a doctor's supervision might prove helpful. Contact your doc and see how he feels about using it. As anti-inflammatory it may cause an improvement in your symptoms (which is what IV steroids do) but like steroids it cannot stop the progression of the MS, just the symptoms. I hope you find some relief soon. If your doc prescribes ibuprofen, let us know what kind of results you get. Feel better!
Avatar n tn This is the same classification as asperin. The most common anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS - Non-Steroidal Anti-INflammatory) are Motrin (Generic = Ibuprofen) or Aleve (Generic = Naproxen or Naproxen Sodium). I agree - use only one of these. If you use Aleve be careful if you are on Neurontin because is a small amount of cases Aleve will interact with Neurontin and cause a 12 - 15% increase in the absorption of the Neurontin (I know this from first hand experience).
1182699 tn?1297574784 That's a good question, I've wondered about this often. Ibuprofen is a non steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID). One of my guesses on what might play a role in causing some varieties of benign ectopics like PACs/PVCs is some sort of low level inflammation process either with the heart muscle or pericardium. There's quite a few reasons why I suspect it, I won't go into detail because I'm too tired right now.
Avatar m tn Both the medication with give almost equal amount of pain relief though meloxicam is associated with fewer side effects as compared to ibuprofen. Though pain relief may be immediate, anti-inflammatory action may take a few days to build up. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
973741 tn?1342342773 turmeric is probably more effective for most people at protecting your liver than as an anti-inflammatory, and also has minor anti-bacterial properties (this is thought to be the reason they started putting it in curry in the first place, not for the taste). So it has benefit even if it doesn't fix your pain. It is, however, a blood thinner. How potent is unknown, really, but it's one of a ton of supplements you have to stop taking a couple weeks ideally before having surgery.
Avatar n tn However, this does not contradict the recommendation for patients with cavernous angiomas to avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) which include ibuprofen, celebrex, vioxx, and others. In general, when a bleed occurs, for example, when you sustain a paper cut, your body responds immediately by initiating what is called a coagulation cascade in order to form a clot at the site of bleeding, to stop bleeding.
Avatar n tn I went to the eye doctor and he examine the eye and stated that I had episcleritis. The first two weeks I was put on anti-inflammatory drops, which did not help. This past week I was put on Prednisolone and over the counter ibuprofen and it has help tremendously. However, I still have just a little redness. Should I be worried?
Avatar n tn It truly sounds like the flu....but, I would do as the doctor recommended, and try the ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory, which means it will not only help with discomfort, but it helps reduce any swelling that may be causing discomfort. If you symptoms don't improve, or get worse, you should at least call your physician and let him know. He may want to see you again, and run further tests for a more specific diagnosis. Hope you feel better soon!
Avatar f tn t metabolize ibuprofen (advil). You can give him tylenol for a short time, but he will be much better off with an anti-inflammatory from your vet. I had two dogs that ended up with severe arthritis. The first took rimadyl daily for 5 of his 13.5 years due to hip displaysia. The last couple of years we switched to deramaxx when the symptoms got more severe. BIG difference with the deramaxx, but it's more expensive.
Avatar f tn Ibuprofen – (Motrin, Advil, Nuprin and others) reduces high body temperature, is an anti-inflammatory and inhibits normal platelet function. A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), ibuprofen can cause gastrointestinal upset and bleeding. Those at risk of portal hypertension are already at risk for gastrointestinal bleeding, intensifying this risk. Studies have demonstrated that at certain dosages, ibuprofen can stress the liver and elevate liver enzymes in people with Hepatitis C.
1187071 tn?1279369698 I have a question for those of you that can't take Anti-inflammatory drugs, my nerve dr wanted me to try them when I first started seeing him, it started with Nap and don't remember the rest and my knee is hurting so I don't want to get up lol Anyway I tried to take them for 3 days and they KILLED my stomache. It hurt so bad after taking them I just prayed it would stop. Is this why some can't take them?
Avatar m tn Apply warm compresses, Neosporin ointment and calamine lotion and avoid messing with it. You can take anti-inflammatory pain killers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen. If the lump persists then it will be best to get it evaluated from a urologist. Doppler ultrasound may be needed to confirm the diagnosis. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Avatar m tn After medical consultation, the doctor said it was some infection, not sexually transmitted and prescribed anti-inflammatory cream and to consume anti-inflammatory tablets for 10 days. I applied anti-inflammatory cream and took anti-inflammatory tablets for 10 days. The papules decreased in size during 10 days of having tablets but after stopping the tablets they are again increasing in size and number. They have now spread on the scrotum, causing severe itching. Please suggest a treatment.
