Ibuprofen and weight lifting

Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen and weight lifting

ibuprofen

Avatar n tn The weight lifting and running you have done may be aggravating factors and you should curtail any major activity until seen by a doctor. Tanglewood is correct in his precautionary statements regarding ibuprofen and Tylenol. If there is any possibility of consulting a physician, that is your best option in determining the cause of your back pain and the best options for treatment.
Avatar m tn When I stopped after college, I started lifting about 4 days a week. I had some discomfort in my shoulders from lifting and my doctor at the time recommended I take some time off lifting and gave me a cortisone shot (dumb move, I know) in my shoulder for what he thought was bursitis. After taking some time off I started lifting again with no discomfort.
Avatar m tn s a connective tissue problem that is not inside the skull. He suggested ice pack on to my head and take OTC ibuprofen. I took another 600mg ibuprofen, did nothing. Ice pack on my head just made me cold.

Avatar n tn I understand the swelling will last a while, but I have never heard about the weight gain. I am 6 lbs heavier and I barely ate the last few days. Is the weight gain normal? Is it just water retention? Or a sign of a problem? Thank you!
Avatar f tn t lift more than half my weight. I worked in dog grooming so I was always lifting dogs up into tubs and what not.
Avatar m tn I have been a runner my entire life, but started lifting weights a couple years ago. Anyways in about January I hurt my shoulder in the gym. Took ibuprofen for a month and then went to physical therapy which seemed to help some. However, I ended up straining/tearing a muscle in my quad about a month later due to over doing legs while sitting out from upper body. I have had a slight limp and some residual tightness in my butt on that side too.
Avatar f tn I'm 21yrs old and 9 weeks pregnant. I work for an airline and sometimes lift 50lbs bags at check in. I've heard lifting heavy weight can be bad and lead to miscarriages. However I've also heard that because I have done this job for the past 2 years I should be fine because my body has adapted to it. I told management and they said the only thing they could do is congratulate me...
Avatar n tn but felt strong enough to get back into weight lifting. Started lifting (w/a personal trainer 3 weeks ago) and left arm is swelling with odd feeling of fullness, and my ring is tighter. I'm inclined to stop lifting since that is the only change in habit that I can identify (there's no cut or infection) but I don't want to just give up. What can I do to reduce the swelling in my arm and should I give up the weight lifting? Thanks in advance for advice and suggestions!
Avatar m tn Exertional headaches are associated with physical activity such as weight lifting, running. coughing, bowel movement or even sexual intercourse. If it persists, you may need to have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation and management. Though most exertional headaches are benign and are most commonly associated with migraine, imaging studies may be done to rule out organic causes. Take care and do keep us posted.

Avatar f tn m a d1 athlete (was) just finished my last season and my doctor says stay active and if anything is uncomfortable to stop and not do it again. However, alot of older women have told me the first trimester is very critical and I should not lift as besser as much. I'm planning it safe and funny light weight. Avatar f tn Hi, This is in answer to your two questions, the 1st being the soreness you have been experiencing. You didn't say how long you have been lifting or the amt of weight and reps! Yes your back may be bothering you do to standing, and it could also come from lifting, especially if you are not resting and letting the muscles repair themselves. This is why I only lift every other day! The amt of calories burned is also hard to say as it depends on whether you are lifting low reps or fast reps.
Avatar m tn Hi, I recently moved and joined a new gym, about a month ago. I had gained 2-3 pounds during the weeks prior to our stressful move, but nothing major. I'm 5'4" and my weight always topped out at 125, max. I go to the gym five times a week, for at least an hour to an hour and a half. I alternate days: cardio, weights, etc. I also *always* keep track of my fitness goals and daily calorie goals with livestrong.com - that's part of what has always kept me in check.
Avatar m tn Good day! I have been experiencing tennis elbow (tendonitis) in my right elbow for the last 6 months. It's due to weight training and heavy lifting. I've cut back on the weight but still have soreness (though not as bad.) I've tried ice a few times each day, a brace when I exercise and Advil yet I still have it. My health insurance plan at work ***** and I don't want to go see a doctor as I don't have the money. Any suggestions? Thanx!!!
Avatar f tn depends what you are talking about... weight lifting, if you were doing it before you were pregnant then your fine to continue doing what you did at the gym if it still feels comfortable. if you mean things around the house and so on i carry loads of laundry at home up and down are flight of stairs since the beginning im 32 wks now ( no problems) i also have a 4 year old niece i carried early in pregnancy she's probably about 25 or 30 lbs.
Avatar n tn If it the pain is severe I would go to a doctor as soon as possible. Could be a pulled muscle from the weight lifting, could be a hernia, could be your appendix... Lot's of possibilities... Why would you suspect a kidney stone? have you had one before?
Avatar f tn Weight limits and lifting really depends on your doctor's comfort level. Some say 20lb limit, some say 40. You'll really need to talk to your doctor about your restrictions. Some women are able to do heavier lifting through their pregnancy without any issues, but that's by no means a guarantee. Lifting can put undue strain on your body and abdomen. You want to avoid the stress on your body as in rare instances, it can cause miscarraige or early labor.
Avatar m tn Antidepressants and SSRIs cause a wide variety of symptoms and everyone responds to them differently. Most experiences weight gain, but I've heard of several who lose as well. That being said, it is rare to notice such drastic side effects within the first month of using any antidepressant. It usually takes at least 2 months to notice a difference. My guess is that you've lost the weight because you're no longer lifting weights.
