Ibuprofen and overdose

Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen and overdose

ibuprofen

Avatar n tn You should be just fine unless you have an allergy to ibuprofen. Prescription Motrin is 800mg of Ibuprofen so that is the equivalent of four of the 200mg Ibuprofen. If you don't break out in a rash or have breathing difficulties after taking one or two Ibuprofen, please don't lose sleep over taking a third. As I said, as long as you can take Ibuprofen in the first place without having a problem, three won't bother you.
Avatar m tn According to research institutes, Ibuprofen overdose damages your internal organs like liver. While in some cases it has been reported that it has result in a permanent liver damage, in other cases where the victim was taking the dose for a long and continued period it has resulted in organ failure one by one.
Avatar f tn If you really took that much Ibuprofen and Benadryl, and I assume you did, you need to call an ambulance.
Avatar m tn Can someone give me either the symptoms or the timeline for an Ibuprofen overdose? And what's going to happen if I don't get treatment? I've taken approx. 40 200mg ibuprofen tablets, 32 hours ago.
Avatar f tn I would ask your doctor or pharmacist to be 100% sure, because I am NOT a medical professional, just another patient like you, but technically, yes because Ibuprofen and the acetaminophen in the percocet are two totally different meds. I am prescribed both myself if that helps you at all.
Avatar n tn I overdosed two days ago on ibuprofen and still feel off. Should I seek treatment? Would it still help? Would I be a suicide risk?
Avatar f tn I over dosed on 300 200 mg Ibuprofen and was taken to the ER last week where i was given charcoal. Ever since i came back home my body has been acting funny and i am having extreme pain (it feels like my right kidney but it seems a little low to be my kidney) and i was wondering if there could have been some internal damage that would not have shown up right after the overdose but a little bit after? Should I be concerned or is this just my body trying to fix it's self?
Avatar f tn Nobody knows. I had an ibuprofen overdose, but it was over a long period of time, and it affected my intestines, mostly my colon, causing colitis. I had frank blood suddenly one day, without any stool at all, and the abdomonal pain was horrible. I had a colonostopy, and was on medication for 2 months to try to heal my colon, it affected 3 ft, and it was almost gangrene. By the time I went to the emergency room, I hadn't eaten in 2 days, and yet the stupid, and I mean STUPID emergency Dr.
Avatar m tn Hi last monday I had a toothache and took quite a few painkillers (ibuprofen mainly) and ever since I have been pooping blood, and last night I had what seemed to be a panic attack (unable to speak, rapid heartbeat, struggling to breathe) and now this afternoon my right eye bag has swollen and hurts every time I blink or close my eyes. Could all these thing be linked or are they separate matters? And should I consult medical advice or see if it all calms down?
Avatar m tn During the 2 weeks, I consumed over 50 200mg pills of ibuprofen. I have had blood work done twice (5 days ago and 2 days ago). Both resulted in increased liver enzymes. I haven't had any ibuprofen in 4 days. Is it possible that my liver enzyme increase is a result of the "overdose" with the ibuprofen. My doctor has scheduled another blood work screening in two weeks. Will my liver enzymes decrease in this amount of time?
Avatar m tn His doctor was horrified yesterday (day after shot) and had him take Benadryl, Ibuprofen and apply lots of ice. Today he received an IV antiobiotic and will get more tomorrow and find out what it is. The say he may have cellulitis. We both believe that his reaction is due to getting a 2nd dose so soon after the first and we hope that he does not have any lasting issues such as an impaired elbow joint, from this.
Avatar f tn t know if the combination of the 200 mg of ibuprofen and the beer could be bad as well? Should I go to the emergency room? Or wait to go to the doctor's office tomorrow? Is a docor's visit even necessary?
Avatar m tn Hello, You need immediate hospital admission. Ibuprofen overdose has effected the GI system causing recurrent vomitings and caused renal ( kidney) impairment thus causing no urination. You need immediate medical intervention urgently. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Side effects....overdose?
Avatar n tn Well, an overdose of ibuprofen is usually marked by drowsiness, stomache pains, and trouble breathing. I have never heard of hallucination being a side effect. That being said, when giving our little one's any medication including over the counter, it is extremely important to stick strictly to dosing instructions. I know the bottle I buy of infant tylenol or ibuprofen show recommended doses based on age and weight and of course frequency. Do not ever give more then she should get.
Avatar f tn Overdose symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, drowsiness, black or bloody stools, coughing up blood, shallow breathing, fainting, or coma. I suggest you contact your doctor.
Avatar f tn Nurofen contains ibuprofen, and the 'plus' is codeine. Codeine is converted to morphine in the liver (to varying degrees in different cultural populations), so from a practical standpoint there is no difference between an addiction to nurophen vs any other opiate, such as oxycodone or heroin.
Avatar n tn I overdosed on Ibuprofen when I was 14 and never told anyone.. I am now 15 and wondering if im ok or do I need to tell someone.
Avatar f tn Two months ago I experienced an overdose on excedrin, clonidine and benadryl and recovered. At the time, I was informed of a potential heart murmur. Lymph nodes have been tender and large for years but one has become hard in the last month. I occasionally have moments where I loose a couple seconds and get startled. I get random, painless muscle spasms quite regularly. I normally have lower blood pressure floating around 120/55.
Avatar n tn ibuprofen have reported death cases on people with liver diseases, same aspirin, absolutely out of question the safest and most potent pain relever is harpagoside contained in Devil's Claw: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harpagophytum no toxicity at any dose it is a vegetable used regularly for centuries in several countires.
Avatar f tn NSAIDs presently on the market that have been frequently associated with liver injury are aspirin (ASA), diclofenac (Voltaren), and sulindac (Clinoril). Ibuprofen (Motrin) has been reported to cause severe liver injury in people with hepatitis C. It is recommended that people with liver disease avoid using all NSAIDs.
Avatar m tn ve taken it myself for painful periods and migraines), ibuprofen (at the 800 mg level), and others. They are pretty affective and part of the care of dysmenorrhea in the states. Yes, you have many hours of pain ahead of you. I would lay out what you can take in a pill carrier or even baggies at one time with the times written on the bags for when you can use the next bag and do not alter from that.
