Ibuprofen and omeprazole

Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen and omeprazole

ibuprofen

Avatar n tn I just came from my dentist and he suggested I take 3 ibuprofen 4 times a day for 3 days to see if it would calm the nerve of a tooth. If it does not, then he suggests a root canal. My main concern is I'm afraid of the stomach problems this might cause. Do I have need to worry? I also take omeprazole to calm my stomach, so am I defeating the purpose? Thank you for your time.
Avatar m tn At the time I was also taking Ibuprofen and the symptoms had started before I started taking either (caused by some food-born illness I think), though the symptoms continued for months so I don't really know if the Ibuprofen or Omeprazole could have contributed to them. I was wondering if the Omeprazole could be causing my current symptoms. Can it cause other symptoms of indigestion despite reducing acid?
Avatar f tn Actually, I think Tylenol and ibuprofen are mentioned -- I believe ssris warn of possible bleeding and bruising from nsaids, and both of the above are nsaids. I doubt it stops any of us from using them, but drugs are always going to present possible problems, and docs and pharmacists are pretty clueless about them. There's just too many of them, and most only happen to a minority of users, sometimes a small minority.
Avatar n tn I would not give your son any more Ibuprofen. It clearly does not suit him. I was prescribed Ibuprofen by my doctor and had to stop taking it because it caused oedema (fluid retention) in my legs. It took months for it to get out of my system and for my legs to get back to normal (well, apart from the arthritic joints).
Avatar f tn I am just curios if anyone has experienced this. About a year and a half ago, I had a severe asthma episode and coschondrits for the first time. I was put on a 2 week coarse of Prednisone along with ibuprofen. By the end I had developed an issue swallowing pills. Even my small thyroid ones felt like they got stuck. Then it progressed to coughing up small hard bits of food, severe reflux, etc.

Avatar m tn s and that I still had some inflamation still evident and was advised to continue with my omeprazole and not to over stuff my self so that the inflamation can heal entirely. I started taking probiotics last Wednesday and will continue. I have a question with the brushing, why is this done? My doctor also indicated I had slight reflex so to stay away from spicy foods.
1534233 tn?1523388856 The nurse said both my shoulders are making grinding noises (left worst) which she said is age, she said that she thought the burning pain was not cardiac related, she did BP, pulse odometer test and an ECG which were all ok. Suggested i try ibuprofen and to try to relax. I am taking omeprazole just in case it's gastric but I don't really think that makes a difference.
Avatar m tn s patients usually have low or no acid which makes me concerned about taking this. And I read about ensuring you space out when you take omeprazole. I also have low ferritin and was taking iron, which I saw online is contradicted. Does anyone have experience with taking this?
Avatar f tn A The words acetaminophen (used in the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Iran and paracetamol (used elsewhere) both come from a chemical name for the compound: para-acetylaminophenol and para-acetylaminophenol. In some contexts, it is simply abbreviated as APAP, for acetyl-para-aminophenol.
Avatar n tn So many ibuprofen tablets can cause severe acidity. Take and antacid gel and a drug like omeprazole or ranitidine to lower the acid in the stomach. Drinking chilled milk also helps at times. Apart from this eat light bland diet like toast, crackers etc at frequent intervals. It is equally important to consult a doctor immediately. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar m tn However, the stomach pain is still there sometimes when I eat certain foods and my doctor recently put me on Zantac and Omeprazole to see if those would work. Besides my Primary Care doctor, I also received a referral to a Gastro doctor who I visited yesterday. The Gastro doctor doesn't believe it is anything serious besides possibly GERD, but I have to stop taking the meds for two weeks in preperation for a H. pylori test.
Avatar f tn I sure could use some advice. Being at my wits end with these problems and now being on Medicare, the docs don't do much for me. I'm 74 yrs old, male, retired, very active. About 10 pounds overweight, other wise fine. Back problems are degenerative and rheumatoid(I think that's it) Problem: stomach problems. Had ulcers since teenager. Almost died with bleeding ulcers when I was 39.
Avatar m tn At first my wife had urinary infection, few weeks later she started to have fever and stomach problems, the docter told her it was a gastroenteritis. I bought her omeprazole and gave her amoxicilline, that worked. She felt fine, but few weeks later she had urinary infection symptoms again. The doctor gave her antibiotics again, that helped her.
Avatar m tn Following a valve replacement and triple bypass I was discharged from Hospital with a number of drugs and a new one being Omeprazole. I did not know why it was prescribed but after a number of months taking it I decided after discussion with my Doctor to stop taking it. A few months later through the night I got this terrible chest pain on a scale of 1-10 I guess it was 7-8.
Avatar f tn I have GERD and a hiatal hernia and have been taking omeprazole twice a day every day for a few months (I had been on Prevacid for several years before the omeprazole but insurance won't cover it any more). If your main symptom is burping, I would try going off of the omeprazole and switching to gas-x or some other type of gas relief medicine. As long as you aren't having a lot of problems with heartburn or acid reflux, you would probably be fine to discontinue using the omeprazole.
Avatar m tn Hi. I am taking omeprazole for laryngopharyngeal reflux for the past 2 days. I am supposed to take two pills daily, one before breakfast and one before dinner. Today, i started having this feeling that food is stuck in my chest and back of my throat but I don't have any problems swallowing. It is an uncomfortable feeling in my chest. I did not have this symptom prior to starting the drug. Is this a side effect of the drug?
581954 tn?1223391496 Is it possible for this to be a side effect from Omeprazole? And how long does it take to get out of your system? I have heard it could take 3 months and I have heard it won't take longer than a week??
Avatar n tn Now due to the pregnancy, it seemed to worsen as I experience painful heartburns. My doctor recommends I take omeprazole along with antacids. I've been taking antacids because I know they don't bare side effects on pregnancy. I am not sure though with omeprazole. I'm scared. I am afraid it might harm the baby. Anyone here experienced the same?
Avatar n tn t correct the underlying problem, but it can alleviate a good deal of the pain associated with ulcers by reducing the amount of stomach acid (the actual substance causing the pain). Omeprazole and other PPIs can and do give ulcer patients a better quality of life while they heal.
Avatar n tn I get up and have 2 or 3 cups of tea with sugar, should wait a 1/2 after taking the medicine before drinking the tea?
Avatar n tn is omeprazole a nercotic pain killer? i know some medications that may b addicting so i thought i would double check..also i had seen that u can take in an i.v is this true and if so how?
Avatar n tn I was taking Omeprazole for acid reflux. I was recently going on eight weeks of taking it. I too WAS suffering from dry mouth and tongue and a severe burning sensation in my throat that was getting worse. I feared the worst, waking up with severe dry mouth, panic attacks as to what was happening. I couldnt even make a drop of saliva. I stopped taking the omeprazole last night. For the first time in weeks i slept like a baby.
