accutane

Avatar m tn My 14 year old son has severe acne on his face, chest and back. He has been seeing a dermatologist for over a year now. He has tried every over the counter medication out there as well as antibiotics (2 different kinds and several different MGs), 6 different prescription acne creams/gels. They seem to work for a little while then stop. Right now his skin is really bad-his face is covered in large, red bumps with white heads. His back is bad too-but to a lesser degree.
Avatar n tn I finished taking accutane about 7 years ago. Now every pimple or mark i get, i get a scar. Its white and slighly raised. My question is, is it possible that accutane could affect your healing and make you prone to scarring permanently? I've heard durning the treatment and a couple years after your skin is thin and sensitive but not permanently. I would appreciate an answer as I am really depressed over this.
Avatar n tn I took Accutane 14 years ago and have the same problem with vaginal dryness. Using intravaginal lubricant creates an unbearable stinging sensation both in the vagina and on the vestibule. The only lubricant that is remotely tolerable is Replens which is not covered by drug plans and is extremely expensive. I have been in two long term relationships in my life - both which ended as a result of this problem. I wish I would have known about this prior to using this medication as a teenager.
Avatar m tn IM NOT concerned that this atane (from india) did anything in terms of normal accutane side effects. I am mainly convinced now that I took poison. Not that i have had any side effects, but just because IM reading all these things online about not to do it. I was very young at the time (20) and I did not think about the conseqs. In all I took maybe about 5-6 blister packs of 10 mg. I do not think the pills where marked, they were little red pills but again they were sealed.
Avatar n tn I’m dealing with the same issue. I took accutane about 3 years ago for acne and I have unfortunately had to deal with cluster headaches since. I get them around the fall and have them for 3/4 months then they go away. But it is excruciating pain and I’m convinced the accutane caused this even though I haven’t been on it in 2 years. Help.
Avatar f tn I'm 21 and I would say maybe 6 months ago I noticed a decrease in my sex drive... I didn't want to masturbate as much. Now when i try to masturbate it's really hard for me to get and erection and sometimes I loose it completely. However when I'm with my girlfriend she can get me hard just fine but if she stops and if we walk to another room I'll go soft really quick. I'll also add that I have a testicular varacacele (sp?
Avatar n tn I took Accutane in the fall of 2004 and I experienced severe hair loss. (I'm a girl). My hair came out in handfulls for about 6 months. The large amount of hair that usually falls out after washing or brushing hair was falling out every half an hour if i ran my fingers through my hair. I lost about 60% of my hair. It stopped for a few months and started again for a few months to a lesser degree though. And now, 3.5 years later, it stills falls out more frequently than it should.
Avatar n tn I am so glad I stumbled upon this site...now I know I'm not alone in my back pain!! I took Accutane 7 years ago, I was 18, and I STILL have HORRIBLE back pain. It's like something is ripping it apart from the inside. I almost scream when I lay down in bed at night, because laying flat is worse than anything else. I have seen doctors, gotten xrays, and I was so stumped as to why it was hurting, then my mom mentioned that it was probably from Accutane, so I decided to research it.
Avatar m tn I got scars like Brad Pitt even though I am healthy, fit, active, lean, low body fat, full abs 6pack. It saddens me to go through this. Basically, I lost family in a accident about a year ago. No doctors will prescribe accutane for me. I tried organics, diets name it, Atkins, low gymcemic, no bread, no dairy or sugar or flour, low glycemic, anti inflammatory, even a natural pathic doctor priced at $125/hr. Little to no help. Temporary relief.
Avatar n tn I took accutane when I was 18 and again when I was 19. The second time around I developed such severe joint pain that I could not get out of bed. Over ten years later I still am in the same pain. I have been to several doctors...no one can tell me what the cause is or how to stop it. I have been on so many meds over the years trying to help the pain that I couldn't even name them all. All I know is that it all started with accutane use.
Avatar f tn It changed my body. 1 round of accutane might be OK but I took 2 rounds and I paid the price. Although you will never get hard evidence that it was from Accutane, you know your bady...
Avatar n tn Hi, I actually just took 5 months of accutane and finished a couple months ago. You are fine to keep working out, nothing wrong with that. You shouldn't gain weight either. And there shouldn't be long term side effects. It's rare that you will have major side effects, or hear voices. There are some studies that say some people kill themselves while on this medicine, but if you don't get depressed then you have nothing to worry about.
Avatar f tn I had been taking accutane for several months during the month of may and june 2009 i had been forgetting to take the meds, i was taking them every other day. Around June 11, I took one than I forgot to take one until the 19th, which is the same day I think I got pregnant. I did not take any other pill after that, do you think this can harm my baby?
Avatar m tn you should know that is bs..i took accutane 10 years ago..still have the hair loss..and im female--wth NO SIGNS of mpb in my family..
Avatar n tn t very severe (cystic, but just in a few spots). I did a 6-month course of Accutane several years ago with a different doctor -- in that case, the doctor started me on a low dose to minimize side effects and then eventually took me up to 40 mg. Side effects were tolerable, and my skin remained clear for a few years afterward. Given my weight, I'm a little worried about side effects at this dose.
Avatar n tn I took roaccutane in my late teens and it cleared up my acne wonderfully for a few years, but then it came back, and worse. My skin is much more sensitive now than it ever was before - rashes all the time.. Also, there have been big 'hoo haas' about whether or not it causes depression. I have also suffered a number of clinical depressions since. The best thing I've found for acne is Brevoxyl (4% benzoyl peroxide). It's a cream, available over the counter.
Avatar n tn m usually in fair condition, and I spend alot of time standing and outside with work, and hobbies. In the past few years, I have noticed that I have sweaty palms where I once never did. My wife and family notice my increasing amount of forehead sweat, when doing everyday tasks, I pretty much just leak sweat from the 2 sides of my forehead just below the hairline..
Avatar m tn I am a 6'1 85 kg male who has been on accutane for 120 days (4 months). I started on 20 mg a day month 1, 40 mg month 2, and 60 mg months 3 and 4. 3 weeks ago I had my 1st eye infection of my entire life in my right eye so I went to an opthamalogist and he told me to stop taking the accutane for a week (which is what he says caused the infection) and put me on doxyclince hyclate 100mg twice a day and eurithromyocin gel to put on my eyelid that knocked the infection out.
1155893 tn?1263018015 I am 33 years old I took a kitten about over 10 years ago for about five to six months and it didn't clear my face I am back on it because my acne got worse so I've been on it about 4 months and I honestly don't see no improvement so I don't know if I should stop taking it or just keep going with the course and maybe take a second or third course but before I heard that you could only take it twice in a lifetime is that it is that correct
Avatar f tn In turn, you lose lubrication, and your joints, bones, and everything that needs this lubrication, suffers. I know this, because I used Accutane 10 years ago, and still have joint issues. All my joints pop, and crack, and easily tire and ache( especially my knees). Life is not the same! The best thing to do is to eat healthy, and take safe supplements for lubrication.
Avatar m tn weight loss ( I was up to 160 right before accutane, lost 20-25 pounds in less than 2 months right after I stopped accutane, and am down to 120 currently) I feel like I have no muscle or fat on me. I'm always hungry but I can't gain a pound.
Avatar n tn My daughter was diagnosed with folliculitis iver 3 years ago and treated with amoxycillin. It took a while to clear up, and did so after her doctor upped the dose. It has come back again, not too severely and 3 montjs ago she ws treated with an antibiotic nasal cream for a sore nose. Now her regular smear has shpwn up vaginal staph aureus and her doctor has reccommended erythromycin or flucloxacillin. Or leavie it untreated. She lives in Morocco at the moment. What do you think?
Avatar m tn Ok so i am 20 years old and i took accutane for about 3 months, then stopped due to lower back pain. After much research i found that the accutane dries up the glands that produce synovial fluid that lubricates your joints. Since then i've been taking hyaluronic acid which helps lube the joints.
Avatar n tn I have researched this topic extensively because I took it around 15 years old. It seems that PROLONGED use of the drug may have this affect (early fusing of the growth plates) meaning 2 or more years of treatment. However, I took it for one cycle I think with 40 mg twice daily. I'm still not very tall coming in at around 5'8'' and I don't think I have grown very much at all (maybe some negligible amount) since my last pill. I am going to receive my derm.
Avatar n tn my acne was not helped by Dianette or anti-biotics and finally aged 22 - two years ago - I took the plunge and had roaccutane with very good results. However, the acne has now returned with vigour. I have polycystic ovary syndrome but have periods.
