Hysterectomy with ap repair

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy with ap repair

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn How complicated is the surgery to repair the cystocele and possible rectocele--is that an AP repair? Also how long would I stay in the hospital--I was given a pamphlet about these urogynecologists in Denver, and in the pamphlet they do talk about minimally invasive surgery for the cystocele with prolapse repair (without hysterectomy-already had the hysterectomy) or graft ad mesh repair for cystocele.
Avatar n tn I just had a repair in combination with a laparoscopic partial hysterectomy. I am on day 3 post surgery and off all pain meds except the Motrin 800 which is more to reduce swelling. I would not have done repair if my hysterectomy was not medically necessary even though it was bothersome it was not life threatening. Overall not in much pain from the repair.
Avatar n tn Just over two weeks ago I had a hysterectomy and bladder repair. I was unable to urinate due to swelling and was sent home after six days with instructions to self-cathetorize. Ive had differering instructions as to how often etc. At the moment, I can urinate between 50 - 150 mls on my own every couple of hours but use the catheter every four hours and the residual is between 100 - 200 mls. How much longer can I expect this to continue?
1840640 tn?1318613270 and she said to see the urologist that did the bladder repair and cystocell repair. I have an appt. next week and need some advice on asking the proper questions reguarding rectocell repair without sounding like an idiot. Im 45 years old and this is a very embaresing topic for me to discuss with my urologist. Thanks to all for any advice.
Avatar f tn I am 64 now, but when I was 11 my appendix ruptured and I developed gangreneous infections and had lots of scar tissue strangling and twisting my insides. At 26, I had a rectal repair and a fistula or fissure that went from my rectum into my vagina. 6 months later had vaginal hysterectomy due to endometriosis and dysplasia. The dr left my ovaries in. My bladder quit on me so I had cath and bag for 3 mo post surgery.
Avatar f tn Wanjari mentioned, vaginal atrophy can cause pain with intercourse. But the shortening of the vagina with hysterectomy (with removal of cervix) can also be a source of pain. Nerve damage is also a possibility from the hysterectomy and/or surgical repairs. Was the sling the mesh that has been shown to erode and cause infection? If so, that could be the cause. Hope you get answers and relief.
Avatar m tn I had a repair for a rectocele and an entrocele and at the same time a hysterectomy. The hyst was done vaginally, the repairs were done laprascopically through 5 incisions. I am still having heavy discharge vaginally. I still have incontinence at times, and at others I am constipated. I am afraid the op has not been totally successful although the doctor says it will settle down. Has anyone had the same experience?????
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with level 2 proplapse. I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy and bladder repair surgery. My GYN preferres to do this surgery by himself. He uses a bladder tie up method because the sling or mesh repair of the bladder has proven to cause problems down the road-materials used eventually wear through that area. My question, has anyone had the bladder repair surgery that uses stitches to anchor the bladder?
Avatar f tn The right ovary measures 2.8 x 1.8 x 1.3 cm in diameter with the left measuring 3.2 x 1.8 cm in diameter. There is a small ring like area of echogenicity in the left ovary that may represent a recently ruptured follicle measuring 1.1 cm in diameter. What would you recommend as a care plan moving forward? Do you think I need surgery, replacement hormones, hysterectomy or what? My HGB A1C OLY came back at 6.0 which is high considering the reference range is 4.8 - 6.
Avatar f tn I have been informed that i need an anterior and posterior repair along with a full hysterectomy. Can you please tell me why it is so urgent that me op is within a week. also how long will i need off work. it will be performed vaginally.
Avatar f tn So, for her, they had to do some bladder repair and again, was sent home with the catheter for a few days. I guess at one point it became a bit unlodged and so she went to the ER because it was uncomfortable and they took it out for good. So, she only had it for a few days. I had a "zipper" cut for my surgery up and down my abdomen. I had to have a cath and frankly, I did not mind a bit. But, I think I am the only woman in America who did not mind a catheter.
Avatar n tn I have the same problem, when I got my bill from the insurance it said "bowel pouch repair" also that I had a bladder wound repaired, a repair of a perforated large intestine, removal of abdominal tumor & pelvic lymph nodes removed. I was supposed to be going in to have me genitofemoral nerve & ilioinguinal nerve removed.
Avatar n tn the retro as you know is to repair a hole or tear from vagina to rectum,,,it really can be done w/o a hysterectomy..however if you do indeed need a hysterectomy that would for sure be the very best time to do it. take a note book and write down all your questions..make sure you understand everything..Drs are legally bound to explain to you its called "Informed Consent" so use it !!! I have never heard of uterus being suspended...
Avatar f tn When procedures are done properly there is no problem with having a hysterectomy, the complications occur when a woman has a hysterectomy and organs/tissues are not properly anchored and women end up with vaginal vault prolapse. I encourage you to discuss the pros/cons of hysterectomy with your physician as well as ask the exact reason why he/she wants to include this as part of your surgery.
Avatar n tn I had a full hysterectomy 3 years ago and suffer sever pain during urination to upper and mid abdominal area beginning since hysterectomy and progressing to more severe since hysterectomy. It only hurts during urination. I mentioned it to my OBGYN that I see regularly but he had no suggestions or comments. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn My doctor has recommended a vaginal hysterectomy due to prolapsed uterus. I will also need a posterior and anterior repair. She does not recommend robotic surgery. She claims she would have to perform the posterior and anterior repairs vaginally and that robotic surgery is not an option. Can a Davinci Robotic surgery be used for both hysterectomy and vaginal wall repairs? I am considering a second opinion from a doctor who routinely performs Davinci surgery. Thanks.
Avatar f tn t know how much that would help with cramping, and if I would still ovulate with that. I am terrified of menopause that would be certainly brought on by the hysterectomy, but every month I end up in so much pain that I wonder if that would be better than this pain. Also, I have tried birth control pills but the ones that are taken for 90 days at a time sent my migraines into overdrive, and I still had extreme cramping.
1563307 tn?1295052596 I have to have a A & P repair done but from what i am reading it is done for bladder problems ....... I do not have problems with my bladder my OBGYN said at my last appt.
Avatar m tn Had ascending aortic dissection emergency repair march 2012, now have arch aneurism at proximal segment 6.6 transverse x5.1 cm AP. Distal segment 4.6 and descending 4.2. With past repair is endovascular stent graft still possible after repositioning of branch arteries?
Avatar f tn It is important that you have a good relationship with your surgeon. Repair of Pelvic Organ Prolapse is more complicated than it appears and your choice of surgeon is important.
553516 tn?1255867219 A hysterectomy by definition is the surgical removal of the uterus with or with out the cervix, a Colporhappy is the surgical repair of vaginal wall via suturing. I would definatley ask to clarify...it seems lodgical that perhaps if he removes the prolapsed uterus the bladder would go back to proper position. I fail to see how suturing the vaginia would solve your problem. Please let me know what he says.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy in 6/06. About 6 months ago my bladder prolapsed. It has become very painful and I can barely walk around anymore. Does anyone know of anything that to do to help this?
1743340 tn?1311200996 I had a partial hysterectomy in 2004 with the placement of a mesh/sling for a prolapsed bladder. In 2008, a CT revealed a 2.5cm cyst on the left ovary and a 3.1cm cyst & a dominant mass. I had everything, including my ovaries, removed at that point. I've since underwent several proceedures (mesh repair, partial mesh removal, rectocill, cystosill, colposcopies, etc..) all begining with severe pain, abnormal pap results, etc.
