Anyway, he scheduled my surgery for Oct. 1. He said that he will be doing a complete hysterectomy and that they take a piece and freeze it and send it to pathology while you are on the table so he will know if more has to be cut out. He is doing the da Vincil surgery. He said it would be a very large cut to get the mass (cyst) out without breaking it. Also, he said that this surgery is only an overnight stay and less pain and faster recovery.

I am scheduled for a laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy in 4 days. I started my period and will be on the light days at the end by the time i have surgery. Is this a contraindication for proceeding with the surgery or can this procedure occur at any time during the menstrual cycle?

I have always been thin and could eat anything I wanted and not gain an ounce but since my hysterectomy, I eat quite a bit less (thankfully I lost my appetite post-surgery!) and am able to maintain a normal weight.

I am trying to figure out when is the best time for surgery for a stage 3 rectocele and stage 3 cystocele. I just had a obtryx sling put in in Dec., but now I have a larger cystocele. I believe the dr. would to the davinci method and give me a complete hysterectomy and use mesh to attach it to the pelvic bone. Is it better to wait or better to do it sooner than later.

My wife has had a full hysterectomy in july 2012 thiss was done by herself with no talk between me or her and now it is causing major strain in our relationship . We don't touch each other the trust has gone I believe the surgeon never gave her any options and the hysterectomy was totaly unnecessar

Removing ovaries is not a hysterectomy...it's an oophortectomy. Hysterectomy is removal of the uterus. I'm not sure exactly what your doctor is recommending, what tests were performed, or what the surgery recommendation is based upon.
Ovaries can be removed laparoscopically by small incisions or by open incision (laparotomy).
