525584 tn?1212442543 It depends on whether your surgery is going to be done laporascopically or with open surgery (laporotomy). Due to the length of stay I would suspect they are doing open surgery. I am having the same on June 6 and have been told that I will be off work anywhere between 4 weeks and 8 weeks depending upon how I recover. There is significant pain involved but after the first 2 weeks should lighten up considerably. Do visit www.hystersisters.com.
553516 tn?1255867219 If you decide to get this procedure please find a surgeon who is qualified to do the DaVinci Robotic Assisted Hysterectomy resurch this.It is the method I used Its very precise surgically. Avatar f tn But it depends on what type of surgery you have. your Ob should have you watch the video of possible side affects. One thing some might tell you, its alot hard to achieve an orgasim, as the uterus plays a role in that matter, some even get vaginal dryness. I think you should research it for your own self being and maybe be able to find the answers to some questions you need to know...good Luck remember to always ressearch out from what you hear or see everyone is different...
Avatar f tn Anyway, he scheduled my surgery for Oct. 1. He said that he will be doing a complete hysterectomy and that they take a piece and freeze it and send it to pathology while you are on the table so he will know if more has to be cut out. He is doing the da Vincil surgery. He said it would be a very large cut to get the mass (cyst) out without breaking it. Also, he said that this surgery is only an overnight stay and less pain and faster recovery.

922475 tn?1243962297 Newly diagnosed with uterine cancer... can a laparoscopic hysterectomy be done with this problem? Does it require being cut from side to side? Just wondering... would like to not have a huge wound site.
Avatar n tn Surgery was a huge success! Dr. Giselle Ghurani at Florida Hospital Cancer Institute (Finkler's group) is brilliant, compassionate, yet cool and hip. I loved having a woman doctor - much more gentle with my virgin surgery body. Removed cantaloupe-sized tumor encasing right ovary, larger than originally thought. I have pictures - but don't want to scare the children! She video taped the surgery for me too. Tennis ball-sized fibroid on uterus. Both benign as expected. 2% malignancy rate.
Avatar f tn 7 percent) had serious complications, and 48 (4 percent) were readmitted to a hospital within the year following surgery because of conditions related to hysterectomy. The most common serious complications were related to the incision or urinary tract problems. Avatar m tn Can you say why you need a hysterectomy? What kind of surgery are you having. Will it be a complete hysterectomy? Sorry for all the questions but the more we know the better we can help you. I did'nt gain any weight after my surgery. Make sure you eat well and exercise. You'll need 6 weeks of recovery time. That means no heavy lifting, no stairsno sex and plenty of rest. You may need hormones if you have hot flashes or mood swings, this is something you can discuss with your Dr.
Avatar f tn they were all great but I am still scared that I will never feel normal again. This is my fourth surgery in seven years including a complete hysterectomy. This is my first attempt at excision and I could use some reassurance from any of you who have had success with this surgery....thanks!
Avatar n tn I am scheduled for a laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy in 4 days. I started my period and will be on the light days at the end by the time i have surgery. Is this a contraindication for proceeding with the surgery or can this procedure occur at any time during the menstrual cycle?
Avatar n tn HAVING TROUBLE LOOSING WEIGHT EVERY SINCE I GOT MY FULL HYSTERECTOMY TRIED EVERY THING AND STILL NO WEIGHT LOSE DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT I CAN DO TO LOOSE IT
442027 tn?1209866342 If I had to make the decision over again, I would have taken a much more conservative approach to the incontinence issue, and stopped after that first surgery. The hysterectomy that I had really was not necessary, and I was not one of the more fortunate patients (my mother had no problems with it, so I thought it would be ok).

Avatar f tn I have always been thin and could eat anything I wanted and not gain an ounce but since my hysterectomy, I eat quite a bit less (thankfully I lost my appetite post-surgery!) and am able to maintain a normal weight. Hopefully, once you get back into your normal routine, you will be able to maintain a normal and healthy weight!
Avatar n tn I am trying to figure out when is the best time for surgery for a stage 3 rectocele and stage 3 cystocele. I just had a obtryx sling put in in Dec., but now I have a larger cystocele. I believe the dr. would to the davinci method and give me a complete hysterectomy and use mesh to attach it to the pelvic bone. Is it better to wait or better to do it sooner than later.

I had a tubal ligation in 2006 and even my 4th GYN was a little concerned about me going through menopause a little early. Avatar m tn My wife has had a full hysterectomy in july 2012 thiss was done by herself with no talk between me or her and now it is causing major strain in our relationship . We don't touch each other the trust has gone I believe the surgeon never gave her any options and the hysterectomy was totaly unnecessar y.
Avatar f tn Removing ovaries is not a hysterectomy...it's an oophortectomy. Hysterectomy is removal of the uterus. I'm not sure exactly what your doctor is recommending, what tests were performed, or what the surgery recommendation is based upon. Ovaries can be removed laparoscopically by small incisions or by open incision (laparotomy).
