A speculum is placed in the vagina, much like that during a
Pap smear. The cervix is grasped to steady the
uterus and a small scope, less than 1/4-inch in diameter, is passed into the uterus, and using fiberoptics, displays the surface of the uterus lining. This may be done for many reasons including abnormal uterine bleeding, infertility, or pelvic pain.
A little advise. Take some motrin or tylenol before the procedure.
