Avatar f tn I have tried Arimidex, Tamoxifen, and Femera with no luck. Now the dr would like to do a total hysterectomy. I am 45 and stopped having periods 3 years ago. Is this beneficial or not?
Avatar f tn My mother had a hysterectomy too in her 40's because of thyroid problems. She wore the patch till she passed away in 2006. She still had hot flashes but it helped some. What are the pellets like and do they hurt?
Avatar f tn I am 40 years old and 3 weeks ago I had a hysterectomy where they took everything but my right ovary. It turns out I had Adnomyosis and was full of fibroids even tho nothing showed up on previous testing. I am glad I made the right decision to have the surgery but now my mood swings are off the charts and I feel like I'm going crazy and losing control. I also suffer from panic disorder that I had under control without meds up untill now.
Avatar n tn How common is hair loss after hysterectomy? I am at 6 weeks post op and have noticed a small amount of hair coming out with daily showers. Twice weekly Vivelle patches were upped from .05 mg to .10 mg. I am feeling ok otherwise. I still have one ovary intact.
Avatar n tn Had colon resection last February, continued having left lower abd. pain, gyn did total hysterectomy in July due to endometriosis. Also, multiple cysts with one that they thought at the time was a neoplasm. Initially I had a reduction in pain. Since surgery have had more problems with constipation, bloating, pain in Left lower abd. as well as pain in same area on my back. Had colonscopy showed no further issues in the colon. Also, had CT scan which showed a cystic structure 2.
Avatar f tn In 1997 at the age of 32 I had a complete hysterectomy and a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy after suffering from severe endometriosis for 15 years. Prior to my surgery I had Laparoscopy but the endometriosis returned. Because I was at my wits-end and in so much pain I opted to have the hysterectomy. At the time of the surgery the doctor found that my ovaries were severely effected by the endometriosis and removed everything. Since then I have been on HRT, mainly 1 mg of estrodial.
Avatar n tn Oh my...Nanik...did you really??? Great...comparing a leg amputation to a hysterectomy. Yes...stay with us. As you know, I had my share of being "dissed" on that site. UNBELIEVABLE. I just posted a ton of stuff...and, wonderful cyster AnotherKatie listed the threads to look up in Archieves under "General Questions" ...now..I will find the thread that lists them and get back to you. I would love to say that I doubt you would need hormonal help...
Avatar f tn Hi, I had a partial hysterectomy that was done through my abdomen. My doctor did an excellent job. But I noticed my shape has changed since, it was immediate. My waist got wider and my stomach bigger. This must be a hormone thing, that is what my doctor said. He also said I was going through perimenopause. I thought after the hysterectomy I would lose weight because I wouldn't have to be on oral contraceptives anymore to control my hemorraghing. Has this happened to anyone else?
Avatar n tn Can anyone tell me what symptoms you had before it was discovered you had adhesions after hysterectomy?I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and now it is 7 months and for the 3-4 months I felt slight pain on my right side and was told by my 2 doctors that this are the healing pains after the surgery. Now I was told that I am healed and these are adhesions or cancer coming back. Going for MRI in two weeks. Will se. I bet my colon is stuck to my voult and that why it hurts. Any comments. PLEASE.
Avatar n tn Well I be damn, I'm not the only hysterectomy-notwannabe out there. I thought you would lose weight with the damn surgery, what is going on?
Avatar n tn Hello, I was wondering if any of you all have been put on hormones after a total hysterectomy. My doctor says there are too many risks and I don't need them...I am 38. I don't know what to expect here 2 weeks after surgery, I keep waiting for a hotflash or something weird to happen. :) What can happen if I don't take them? I've had nightmares of growing hair on my face or my voice getting manly. Are my fears real? Can anyone share their experience or knowledge about hormones?
Avatar n tn people who have their cervix removed during a hysterectomy will NOT have a period. i am suprised your dr did not inform you of this. i had a hysterectomy, with only 1 ovary remaining, and my dr told me i will still ovulate, i just wont have a period because my uterus AND cervix were removed.
Avatar n tn I don't under stand. I had a Hysterectomy about 10 weeks ago, they left both overies but had to take alot off of both. I am 29 years old, my 4 kids are my life but I can't stand them at times. I have always has alot of patents but anymore I wonder whats wrong with me. My husban is the love of a life time and I can't stand him either. I just get so angry over nothing really. Will this go away?
Avatar n tn I just experienced a similar event in February. I'm 40 and they found a 18 cm complex cyst on my left ovary. My doc was very worried it was OVCA so I had a OBGYN oncologist do my surgery. I had everything removed EXCEPT my cervix. There was no cancer, only advanced endometriosis. I'm now in surgical menopause and doing very well. I have hot flashes and night sweats but thats about it. I can't take HRT (nor would I want to due to the link to breast cancer) due to my endometriosis.
Avatar n tn I had a total hysterectomy in 2001 due to endo.I had hot flashes and other menapause symptoms for about a year.I did not take any HRT and they went away .I recently had to have a kidney removed do to tumor (non cancer)and the hot flashes are now back. Can this be from menapause,or side affect of surgery? How long can these symptoms last?

727136 tn?1231186264 I am 5 years post total hysterectomy - abdominal due to adhesions/cysts/endo, etc. You name it, I had it. My left ovary was enlarged to size of grapefruit, wrapped around my ureter and the artery nearby, then that was all plastered to my left pelvic side wall. I opted for total hys due to endo, etc. I have 1 happy, healthy boy - he's almost 10! Anyway, the Dr.
Avatar f tn Hi- Just wondering if anyone out there had any complications post total hysterectomy? I had mine 3 months ago due to several cysts again! Paternal grandma died of ovarian cancer at age 50. I had 15 years of cysts, and a total of 8 laporosopies. I am not even 40 yet! Any how, at my 8 wk check up my oncologist said everything was fine, no infection, no cancer, etc., I can try having sex with my husband. We did everything was fine.
Avatar n tn i went in and had a ovary removed and 1 month later i was back so they could do a hysterectomy. i still have 1 ovary though, but i wish they would have just done the hysterectomy when they removed the first ovary, cuz going back under the knife in such little time sucks. i had an lavh and recovery went really well. so if i can suggest you having that done if possible, abdominal hysterectomy is a much longer and harder recovery. good luck to you ladies.
Avatar f tn I never felt a loss of intimate sensation from my hysterectomy at 40 but there will be a heal curve with sensation after having POP surgery. Typically there are nerves cut through and nerves take a while to heal. I was able to regain my ability to orgasm but it does take longer to get there-however the intensity of sensation is great.
Avatar f tn I am so nervous. I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy because of my ovarian cyst by Da Vinci surgery. Has anyone had this surgery? I don't know what to expect. It looks as if the dotror is playing video games and I suspect there is no Hands-On Surgery during this. Is anyone watching me at all? I am so nervous and if this wasn't something that I must have I would cancel the whole thing.
Avatar n tn use hydrmorphone - dilota thats what i used cause i too am allergic to many pain drugs. dont do the spinal if your under 40 yrs old you can get these incredible headaches, they were so bad that i seriously thought i had spinal cord damage, i couldnt hold my head up for three days i had to hold it up with both hands it was scary!!!!

Avatar f tn I too had a complete hysterectomy and have my ovaries. A "Radical" hysterectomy with when they take everything. Anyway. I didn't have symptoms as bad as yours but I swore I was going through menopause and all doc's said no. I still don't believe them. You are having all the symptoms of menopause and I did as well. I went on estrogen and it helped alot. Not having a Uterus helps with the main problem of possible uterine cancer from ERT.
Avatar n tn They went in again and found more cysts, took the ovaries out. Now, here we are (since February), I have daily discomfort under my right rib also. The past month and a half it has gone into chest pain and radiates up into the shoulder and back. He is planning an ERCP for two weeks. Have you had several bowel movements a day? Is yours aggravated by activity. Can you wear a waistband around your middle or panty hose? I can't stand my jeans and haven't been able to for a long time.
Avatar n tn I have the charlie horses in various places around my body, legs, feet, hands, under the ribs, under the breasts, etc. The pain can be excruciating. It can literally bend me over, make me cry, and scream out in pain. It happens in the shower, walking, using the bathroom, sitting in a chair, sleeping, etc. There is no particular time that this occurs. I can be doing nothing at all but laying on the sofa watching TV. If I get them in my legs, I have to walk them out.
647397 tn?1307060215 Hello, I just found out I also have uterine fibroids, due to hormonal imbalance. My doc is suggesting a hysterectomy but I am only 40 and I don't want to get that done. I have been researching herbal remedies, I found one called Fibroid Clear, I am going to try that, go to Biotanical Health and read up on the herbs and how each one helps. It is worth the try. Meds the Doctors prescribe can hurt you later in different ways.
