Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy recovery uk

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn My doctor suggested that I have the rectocele surgery repair. I'm hesitating because I've heard horror stories about the recovery and pain afterwards (from other posting sites and my Mom as well who had the surgery 15 years ago). I've been navigating this site and it seems like people here are not spreading fear. Just how bad was the surgery and post op? Thanks.
Avatar n tn It takes several weeks for your body to heal after a hysterectomy so it's best to follow the Drs orders. Take things slow and get plenty of rest.
Avatar f tn Tiredness was my worst symptom!! But you defintely need to take it easy..unfortunately I had 3 surgeries 2 with the hysterectomy and 1 a week later but my incision took 8-10 weeks to heal...the norm is 4-6 but I know the insides need to heal alot longer..just when you feel good and do too much than you realize your quite not there yet..so please take this time to recover rather than end up doing something that can cause more damage..the Doctor will give you the clearance to exercise again..

Avatar f tn I am going into hospital for a hysterectomy next Tuesday and am so scared about not only what is going to happen but also what they are going to find. Basically I have an enlarged ovary and have been told I could have cancer but they cant be sure until they take it out and test it. They are treating it as cancer until it is proved otherwise. This has me in a right old panic and I am convinced it must be cancer if this is how they are treating it.
Avatar f tn Removing ovaries is not a hysterectomy...it's an oophortectomy. Hysterectomy is removal of the uterus. I'm not sure exactly what your doctor is recommending, what tests were performed, or what the surgery recommendation is based upon. Ovaries can be removed laparoscopically by small incisions or by open incision (laparotomy).
Avatar f tn I had a partial hysterectomy just under 3 weeks ago, and i was just wondering how much walking is too much? I am only going for short walks at the moment, but feel i would be able to go for longer walks, but am afraid i might push myself too hard. any advice would be helpful, thanks.
1510783 tn?1290096307 I am scheduled to have a partial Hysterctomy because I've been diagnosed with Andemyosis. on December 15th (just my uterus will be removed, so far). What can I expect in regards to pain, recovery time and emotions. I've had my tubes tied for 4 years so I am fine about not having any more children. My doctor is not sure if she has to cut me or go vaginally. I am a little nervous and scared about this major procedure. Any feeback would be greatly appreciated. I am 38 years old.
Avatar m tn I had a vaginal hysterectomy 8 years ago was great for me and I had a quick recovery. Surgeries change throughout the years. Laparoscopic surgery is great as well as the healing time is much quicker. Myself, I would go laparoscopic as it is a much faster recovery as I stated before. But I would definite talk to you gyn first. Good luck.
Avatar f tn If I have a hysterectomy, seeing how I had my tubes cut and they remove my uterus will I still have monthly periods? Also, we are going on a cruise in Oct, will I be complete healed by then? Thanks for your time.
Avatar m tn If I still need to do some that it will be a laparoscopic hysterectomy recovery time is 2 weeks versus abdominal hysterectomy 8-10 weeks recovery time. God Bless you both and anyone else that's going through this!
Avatar n tn I would want my own egg used if we did pursue surrogacy. I have had a hysterectomy. My uterus, cervex, Fallopian tubes and one ovaries were removed. I do however have 1 ovary remaining. Is it possible/difficult to harvest eggs in this situation?
Avatar n tn Has anyone had the DiVinci machine for a hysterectomy? How long was recovery? How did it go?
Avatar f tn C section is scheduled for August 7th; however, due to the location of my fibroids I may have to have an emergency hysterectomy...is anyone else in a similar situation? Does anyone know anything about how that might impact recovery? Pregnancy has been basically perfect and baby is doing great otherwise!!
Avatar f tn )as soon as u have a wee u can go generally in the UK this is...
1053613 tn?1255987994 Has anyone had their hysterectomy by robotics? Im having the robotics hysterectomy on Dec. 30 and was wondering how the recovery has been for someone who has that type of surgery.
Avatar m tn One of the best things you can do to avoid the disease progressing, is to avoid stress as much as possible. In the UK, it was 'assumed' that higher instances of heart disease in poorer areas were associated with a bad diet. However, it has now been realised that higher stress levels exist in poor areas, giving rise to a greater number of heart problems. I think it was very bad that scientists would assume poor people don't know what to eat.
Avatar n tn It does sound like it would be the best solution. I can see what the doctor means. If they leave the ovaries, at least you wouldn't experience surgical menopause, which can be a bit brutal. But you would say goodbye to your womb. How do you feel about that? It might be a good idea, for the sake of your general health. Fibroids naturally shrink after menopause, and often cause no more trouble, but with the kidney involvement, I would say it's best to have the surgery.
Avatar f tn Jon There are too many of us Jon's on here.....FYI - My wife was also diagnosed as stage 3a and with a poorly differentiated tumour. Do you know what type of tumour your Mum has (Serous, Mucinous etc.)? This is an important thing to know when it comes to response to treatment. One thing I would be concerned about in your description is that you said that the stage had been given as 3a yet they also said that the Lymph nodes had been affected.
Avatar n tn How long will it take for you to recover from a partial hysterectomy. I had mine a week ago, I feel like I am able to work already but I'm afraid that going back to work at one is not good for me.
Avatar f tn I'm not certain what all you already know, or what you need to know, so here's my simple "hysterectomy lecture" for future readers. :-) The word "hysterectomy" actually refers only to removal of the uterus. The cervix is usually removed as well, and that entire procedure is called a total hysterectomy. There are two ways to do the surgery.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation on August 19th, I had decompression surgery on sept the 4th. Recovery is going well. I have had a few headaches since the surgery and omg yesterday's was very bad! Since surgery, the back of my head is numb from ear to ear, and from the bottom to the top of my head!?!? The numbness on the back of my head feels like it spreads to the top of my head one day and then is just on the back of my head the next.
