Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy recovery time forum

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn Hello Ladies, I almost feel guilty for asking this question after some of the entries from today. My heart goes out to each and everyone of you!!!! My question is about recovery time. Those of you who know me know that I had a tumor removed and a total hysterectomy with "all-clear" for cancer two weeks ago tomorrow. You all have figured out I'm not a very patient person when it comes to myself, but, hey, it's been two weeks.
Avatar f tn Hi Lynn, I'm going to have your post transferred over to the Hysterectomy Forum; I feel they'll be able to better advise you (this is a forum for pelvic organ prolapse, and although sometimes women have a hysterectomy as part of a POP procedure, the issues with POP and hysterectomy/fistula are very different. Someone should be able to address your concerns and you should be able to find quite a bit of useful information about hysterectomy in general in this forum. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Do ask your doctor but I would imagine you would be able to after the first week but might want to arrange for the little car to drive you around as you will be very sore and very tired. You might also want to ask this question on the hysterectomy forum. Good luck with your surgery.
Avatar f tn I firstly hope this will resolve the issue but am a little scared in case it dosent and going through surgery for nothing. What does this operation involve and also what is the recovery time. My GP has been fantastic but we both think enough is enough. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I think it takes time to heal after a rectocele surgery. I think you're coming along fine. Your surgery was in Oct, how do you feel now? I just has the surgery on the 15th of Decemeber......healing is taking longer than I expected, but I'm doing okay. Is your life back to normal? I'm wondering if I'll ever feel "normal" again.
Avatar f tn She stayed in the hospital only one night and was up and walking about the next day. I think you can pretty much expect your recovery time will be similar to that of a regular C-section. The C-section is the more major of the two procedures. However, the fact that you're asking on this forum troubles me. Your doctor/OB/surgeon should be giving you plenty of information about your procedures and telling you all of this. Don't be afraid to ask them. Good luck!
1570782 tn?1296689507 Hello and welcome! I havent had the surgery but have had the discussion with my NS about the expectation afterwards. I am awaiting a surgery date now. He said that it can take a long time and it is common to have up's and down's with recovery. So try to take it easy and give your body time to heal. It could take a long time as Selma said since we all heal differently.
Avatar f tn Tiredness was my worst symptom!! But you defintely need to take it easy..unfortunately I had 3 surgeries 2 with the hysterectomy and 1 a week later but my incision took 8-10 weeks to heal...the norm is 4-6 but I know the insides need to heal alot longer..just when you feel good and do too much than you realize your quite not there yet..so please take this time to recover rather than end up doing something that can cause more damage..the Doctor will give you the clearance to exercise again..
Avatar n tn It takes several weeks for your body to heal after a hysterectomy so it's best to follow the Drs orders. Take things slow and get plenty of rest.
2012515 tn?1353875525 I want to thank you both for your thoughts and prayers and encouragement. Sarah-Thanks for replying and for concerns. I had seen 2 obgyns(in same practice)on Tuesday but both felt it is something that is needed to be done to avoid anything turning cancerous etc.An ablation is out of the question now due to all the fibroids on uterus walls.I go for pre-op on 22nd and the Dr will discuss recovery time. Thanks for hugs and for prayers.
1645684 tn?1356649600 Hi all, I read through the forum rules and it seems that aside from the detox, long term recovery based information is a part of this community. I didn't know if there was another forum community that was geared towards 12 step recovery and spiritual growth and if not, I would like to be involved in starting one. At the very least I would like to see a thread (maybe this one) that focuses more on that.
1510783 tn?1290096307 I am scheduled to have a partial Hysterctomy because I've been diagnosed with Andemyosis. on December 15th (just my uterus will be removed, so far). What can I expect in regards to pain, recovery time and emotions. I've had my tubes tied for 4 years so I am fine about not having any more children. My doctor is not sure if she has to cut me or go vaginally. I am a little nervous and scared about this major procedure. Any feeback would be greatly appreciated. I am 38 years old.
Avatar m tn Can you say why you need a hysterectomy? What kind of surgery are you having. Will it be a complete hysterectomy? Sorry for all the questions but the more we know the better we can help you. I did'nt gain any weight after my surgery. Make sure you eat well and exercise. You'll need 6 weeks of recovery time. That means no heavy lifting, no stairsno sex and plenty of rest. You may need hormones if you have hot flashes or mood swings, this is something you can discuss with your Dr.
Avatar f tn I know i'm really late but I was just randomly searching the internet for what recovering from surgery is like and I saw your question. I had surgery in july of 2008 and im still in severe pain. I was told before surgery that the recovery time is between 3 weeks to 6 months and now 2 years later i'm still struggling a little bit. My doctor told me the pain is something that i have to live with because its been so long. I'm just glad im not paralyzed (that's the silver lining).
Avatar f tn As far as healing goes, it depends on the nature of your surgery and your overall health. Minimally invasive surgery may have a recovery time of 2 weeks, well as a non-minimally invasive approach may take as long as 6 weeks. Regards, Erich T.
Avatar f tn Sorry for so many typos. My Uterus was the size of 10 week pregnancy ! I had history of endometriosis for 11 years. Because I am older and CA 125 was high - the gyn onco team assumed malignancy. In December my cyst on left ovary was 5cm. In February it was 7cm. UN may it was 12cm. That's why the suspicion. The stress was bad enough to be killed. I am otherwise very healthy and hope fir full recovery in 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn I had a vaginal hysterectomy 8 years ago was great for me and I had a quick recovery. Surgeries change throughout the years. Laparoscopic surgery is great as well as the healing time is much quicker. Myself, I would go laparoscopic as it is a much faster recovery as I stated before. But I would definite talk to you gyn first. Good luck.
Avatar m tn If I still need to do some that it will be a laparoscopic hysterectomy recovery time is 2 weeks versus abdominal hysterectomy 8-10 weeks recovery time. God Bless you both and anyone else that's going through this!

1149921 tn?1297559913 Has your Dr confirmed that you have fibroids? It's true that you are having some of the possible symptoms. I'm glad to hear your getting the ultra sound. If you do have fibroids the treatment depends on how big they are. I wish I could be of more help to you but I've never had fibroids. You might want to pop over to the hysterectomy forum and look up our CL Cherie. You can send her a personal message. Just look for her name, she also has a purple star by her name. Take care.
