hysterectomy

Avatar n tn I am 12 days post-op from rectocele surgery and still having some discomfort with my stitches. How long should I expect this to continue? No blood flow anymore just a very little bit of discharge. This discussion is related to After rectocele surgery.
Avatar n tn It takes several weeks for your body to heal after a hysterectomy so it's best to follow the Drs orders. Take things slow and get plenty of rest.
1510783 tn?1290096307 I am scheduled to have a partial Hysterctomy because I've been diagnosed with Andemyosis. on December 15th (just my uterus will be removed, so far). What can I expect in regards to pain, recovery time and emotions. I've had my tubes tied for 4 years so I am fine about not having any more children. My doctor is not sure if she has to cut me or go vaginally. I am a little nervous and scared about this major procedure. Any feeback would be greatly appreciated. I am 38 years old.
Avatar f tn Tiredness was my worst symptom!! But you defintely need to take it easy..unfortunately I had 3 surgeries 2 with the hysterectomy and 1 a week later but my incision took 8-10 weeks to heal...the norm is 4-6 but I know the insides need to heal alot longer..just when you feel good and do too much than you realize your quite not there yet..so please take this time to recover rather than end up doing something that can cause more damage..the Doctor will give you the clearance to exercise again..
Avatar m tn If I still need to do some that it will be a laparoscopic hysterectomy recovery time is 2 weeks versus abdominal hysterectomy 8-10 weeks recovery time. God Bless you both and anyone else that's going through this!
1053613 tn?1255987994 Has anyone had their hysterectomy by robotics? Im having the robotics hysterectomy on Dec. 30 and was wondering how the recovery has been for someone who has that type of surgery.
Avatar f tn I had the total hysterectomy I feel fine some days and some days I feel blah
Avatar n tn I had an abdominal hysterectomy 17 days ago and have had a lot of pain and discomfort since then. I returned to the doctor on monday (2 days early) and they took blood and sent me for a cat scan. this showed that i have 2 hematomas in my abdomen and i am just wondering what to expect and time frame of recovery.
Avatar f tn Removing ovaries is not a hysterectomy...it's an oophortectomy. Hysterectomy is removal of the uterus. I'm not sure exactly what your doctor is recommending, what tests were performed, or what the surgery recommendation is based upon. Ovaries can be removed laparoscopically by small incisions or by open incision (laparotomy).
Avatar f tn I had a partial hysterectomy just under 3 weeks ago, and i was just wondering how much walking is too much? I am only going for short walks at the moment, but feel i would be able to go for longer walks, but am afraid i might push myself too hard. any advice would be helpful, thanks.
Avatar m tn However the final diagnosis can be made only at the time of surgery by direct visualisation and with the help of frozen section. The recovery from exploratory laparotomy may take 8 to 10 days. Recovery is usually good. Hence let us hope for the best. Take care and good luck.
Avatar n tn How long you stay in hospital depends on where you live, insurance, and your doctor. I live in Canada and I was in for 5 days but I have heard of others in for as little as 2. Did you have open surgery for your hysterectomy? The recovery time is very similar. I found a lot of pain for the first 2.5 weeks. Hugging a pillow really helped and very important to stay on top of your pain meds. My pain started reducing then and felt much better by the 4 week mark.
Avatar n tn Ten days is still a little bit of time. I was in pain weeks after the surgery. It's major surgery and you had two of them! My c-section was way worse than the laparatomy to remove the cyst though. Don't worry, give yourself lots of rest and don't do things you're not supposed to even if you think you can. Give it another couple of weeks, but do tell your doctor any concerns and symptoms you have. That's what they're there for. Congratulations on your new baby.
Avatar n tn I am seeing a urogyno for rectocele plus fibroids which have returned after being removed less than 12 months ago, so possible hysterectomy. I was told 3 weeks recovery and I could return to work. I am a teacher and tend to be on my feet all day moving around the classroom, plus my classes are not always in the same room, so I walk around the school as well. I am going to give myself the full 8 weeks to recover. Again, thank you for sharing and wishing you well in your continued recovery.
Avatar f tn They repaired a deviated septum, left ethmoidectomy, bilateral reduction of all turbinates, and sphenoidotomy. My doctor said that recovery time (return to work) would be about a week. I'm now 3 days short of 3 weeks and still have huge parts of the day that I'm in pain. The worst part is the weekly debriding. It knock me down to bedridden for at least 48hours. I have soreness/pain in the top of my head, occipatal headache my eyes become sore, and my front teeth become numb.
886230 tn?1242081720 I am scheduled to have a full hysterectomy in 4 days. I am 46, and have battled bad endometriosis for 3 years. 2 years ago my gyn did a lap. surgery to remove a large cycst on my left ovary and found a ton of endo inside and a large endometrioma on my right ovary that consumed the entire ovary so she had to remove it. Shge also removed all of the endo she found and I felt a ton better. A few weeks ago I started to have pain in my lower abdomain again and recognized the old buring endo pain.
Avatar m tn I had a vaginal hysterectomy 8 years ago was great for me and I had a quick recovery. Surgeries change throughout the years. Laparoscopic surgery is great as well as the healing time is much quicker. Myself, I would go laparoscopic as it is a much faster recovery as I stated before. But I would definite talk to you gyn first. Good luck.
Avatar f tn My periods are regular, but very heavy. Last period was different however, only two days long. Pain and cramps worsening, as well as radiating pain down left leg, that feels like leg is heating up from the inside. Transvaginal ultrasound showed a thick uterus during 3rd day of period and exam showed uterus has moved to left side of abdomen. I often suffer from low back pain and pressure in lower abdomen. I am forty years old, 5'5" weight is 245.
Avatar f tn If I have a hysterectomy, seeing how I had my tubes cut and they remove my uterus will I still have monthly periods? Also, we are going on a cruise in Oct, will I be complete healed by then? Thanks for your time.
1809377 tn?1316520328 I am seeing my GYN tomorrow to make an apt to have a partial hysterectomy. I have seen a lot of the posts out there, but I would like to know what I can experiece post up... recovery time... discomforts... how long will it take for my body to get back to my new normal self, how long it will take for me to have sex again (it's been over 5 months)!!!
Avatar f tn ll be able to better advise you (this is a forum for pelvic organ prolapse, and although sometimes women have a hysterectomy as part of a POP procedure, the issues with POP and hysterectomy/fistula are very different. Someone should be able to address your concerns and you should be able to find quite a bit of useful information about hysterectomy in general in this forum. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Has anyone had the DiVinci machine for a hysterectomy? How long was recovery? How did it go?
